上第一节课的那天,老师徐徐而来,我们顿时有眼前一亮的感觉,老师穿着得体,举止优雅。

下面我介绍一下这门课程的主要内容以及大纲。

全书内容分为建筑与结构力学、建筑与管理工程、桥梁和道路工程、地基基础、港口工程等几个部分。

每部分选材涵盖该专业所涉及的主要内容,绝大多数原文作者母语为英语,每篇力求做到语言表达地道、不出现生涩词汇。

教学模块及特点:课文正文后面附有专业词汇(带有音标)和常用词组,以及部分句子或内容的注释和说明,以便于读者快速、及时、准确掌握文章内容;课后所附相关练习有词汇或词组的中英文互译、句子的中英文互译和问答题等题型,以供课堂教学或者自学时及时考查对课文的掌握程度。

每篇正文后面均有一篇与正文内容相关的阅读材料。

正文和阅读材料不设全篇泽文,避免产生中文依赖。

全书以较小的篇幅介绍了土木工程专业英语中常用的阅读和写作技巧,并将内容由浅到深地分配到每一课课后,希望能借此提高读者的阅读和写作水平。

《土木工程专业英语》适合普通高等院校土木工程专业本科生使用,也可供土木工程师及相关从业人员阅读参考,对高校教师和研究生也有参考价值。

一部好的教材应该把人文素质和科学精神的培养放在重要位置。

教材中不仅要从内容上体现人文素质教育和科学精神教育,而且还要从科学严谨性、法规权威性、工程技术创新性来启发和促进学生科学世界观的形成。

简而言之,这套教材有以下特点:首先,从指导思想来讲,这套教材注意到“六个面向”,即面向社会需求、面向建筑实践、面向人才市场、面向教学改革、面向学生现状、面向新兴技术;其次,教材编写体系有所创新。

结合具有土建类学科特色的教学理论、教学方法和教学模式,这套教材进行了许多新的教学方式的探索,如引入案例式教学、研讨式教学等;最后,这套教材适应现在教学改革发展的要求,提倡所谓“宽口径、少学时”的人才培养模式。

在教学体系、教材编写内容和数量等方面也做了相应改变,而且教学起点也可随着学生水平做相应调整。

同时,在这套教
材编写中,特别重视人才的能力培养和基本技能培养,适应土建专业特别强调实践性的要求。

记得第一天上课的时候,老师问我们“土木工程”英语怎么说,当时班上的同学没一个能回答出来,我们当时很尴尬,自己主修的专业用英语怎么说都不知道。

后来老师告诉我们是civil engineering,老师叫我们一定要记住,这是我们专业的国际叫法。

后来老师叫我们翻译一篇文章,当时真的难倒我们了,有一年没接触英语了,后来在老师的指导下,顺利的翻译完了整篇文章。

老师上课还是蛮有趣的,有她独有的教学方式,她让我们默写单词的方式是:分好组然后上黑板写,一次写一个单词,每组每次派一个,然后比谁的默写速度最快,最快的哪一组加一分,写完十个单词后,看哪个组得分最多。

这个教学方式新颖独特,提高了学生的上课兴趣,有一种竞争元素在这个默写游戏里面,大大提高了学生的听课效率。

通过学习《土木工程专业英语》这门课程,让我知道了土木工程这个专业是一个国际性的专业,每个国家都需要土木方面的人才。

中国正处于大力开发建设的时机,国家急切的需要这方面的人才,而且有些公司的业务是面向世界的,所以学好英语是必不可少的。

通过这门课程的学习我知道了混凝土的英文,钢筋的英文,结构力学的英文,梁的英文等等。

让我受益颇多,学到很多专业性的单词,在此,由衷的感谢老师,老师辛苦了!。
