AWhen you hear the name Leonardo da Vinci, what comes to mind? Maybe his paintings, Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. Maybe it's his flying machine invention. When I think of this great man, I think of the term “Renaissance Man”. Why? The term “Renaissance Man” comes from fifteenth-century Italy and refers to the idea of a person with knowledge and skills in a number of different areas. Perhaps, no single individual xkw defines the idea of a Renaissance man better than Leonardo da Vinci-an artist, scientist, architect, engineer and inventor.Leonardo da Vinci will most likely go down in history for his famous works as an artist. But,did you know that he spent a significant amount of time working on his endeavors in science and technology? Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most productive inventors in history. Some of his most famous inventions are the flying machine, the parachute and the revolving bridge. Leonardo has also been given credit by historians for many more inventions.Once in the courtyard of Senor Ludovico, Leonardo da Vinci constantly invented various “labour-saving devices” for use in the kitchen. At the same tim e, he began to keep notebooks. The funny thing was that most of the drawings found there, which for several hundred years were considered by researchers to be mechanisms for military (军事)operations, in fact, turned out to be quite peaceful meat grinders, dishwashers, mechanical devices for cracking nuts. The restless Leonardo invented the manual garlic press, which has remained virtually unchanged to our day, a foot-operated napkin dryer, an egg cutter, and many other useful things. But his most important discovery is the invention of spaghetti. Of course, pasta (意大利面食)has existed in Italy since ancient time. But it was a hard and very broad substance, like a heavy lump of lasagna (面块). Leonardo changed the shape of the pasta, making a machine that cut it into long thin strips, which after boiling turned into spaghetti.21. Leonardo da Vinci is mentioned as “Renaissance Man” for his _A. individual ideasB. diverse talentsC. representative worksD. birth time and place22. What is known about his inventions in the courtyard of Senor Ludovico?A. They were practical for everyday use.B. They reached record high at that time.C. They have remained unchanged to our day.D. They were intended for military operations.23. In what way did Leonardo da Vinci change pasta?A. Taste.B. Color.C. Fragrance.D. Shape.BFractional ownership is a percentage ownership of a specific asset (资产). It has often been used to share the ownership of expensive assets such as expensive boats, private planes and so on. When the value of the asset increases, the ownership shares do as well. Co-owners also share equally the costs carried by the asset. Most recently, the same concept of fractional ownership was applied to art as well. The logic is the same. Multiple people own one artwork and share the benefits and the costs of the asset. Galleries and artists, instead of selling one artwork to one person, they can sell it to more than 1000 art lovers.Co-ownership of art gives the possibility to everyone to participate in the art market. The potential market for artworks is suddenly way bigger. Only a few people can afford artworks that cost more than £100,000. But everyone can afford to buy some shares priced at £10 each. On top of this, all co-owners share the costs involved with the acquisition of an artwork. For art lovers that are just starting to collect art for investment (投资)reasons, co-ownership of art can be a great tool to start learning and understanding the market without risking too much capital. For big collectors instead, sharing the ownership of an artwork is an easy way to diversify their portfolio (投资组合)without having the burden of managing the asset. For many years only wealthy people could afford to buy expensive artworks. Because of this, most artworks are hidden in private collections and dark storages since decades where the public has no access to. And, if we think that art is supposed to deliver important messages and topics and is the representation of ourpast and present, it seems incredible that art has become something that few people can fully enjoy. Fractional ownership of art, by giving everyone the possibility to co-own art, has the power to greatly change this. Suddenly, art becomes an asset available to everyone and, by being more accessible, it starts to attract way more people.24.Which of the following is a kind of fractional ownership?A. A wealthy businessman owns a private ship.B. A museum event is attended by 1000 art lovers.C. Galleries and artists sold one artwork to one person.D. 10 friends bought a house priced at S10,000 together.25.What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?A. The potential market for artworks.B. The source of capital for investment.C. The benefit of fractional ownership.D. The development of fractional ownership.26.What might the author agree to?A. Art contributes greatly to social economy.B. Co-ownership of art benefits the general public.C. Only wealthy people could afford expensive artworks.D. Fractional ownership is a way to invest without risk.CThe public nowadays has a misunderstanding of forest fires, believing that fires should be kept out of every type of forest. Many of us can recall Smoky the Bear's famous warning: “Remember, only YOU can prevent forest fires”. However, that's not always the case. Under th e right conditions, and when conducted safely, fire can create many environmental benefits as well as help prevent larger, uncontrollable wildfires. After a forest fire, many wildlife species will move into recently burned areas to feed on these newly available foods. Some reptiles and amphibians such as the pine (松树)snake prefer forests frequently burned by fire. As Herbert Stoddard put it, “One of the most harmful things modern man has done to birds has been his attempt to exclude fire from fire-type pine forests. Within a few years most forests choke up with bushes, lose their prairie-like vegetation (草原般植被)and can no longer support birds dependent on periodic burning for their food supply and proper cover.”If you are asked to picture the forest floor, what do you see? Pine needles, cones, leaves, branches might come to mind-all sources of fuel. If these fuel sources build up without any type of removal, the 'fuel load' can lead to fires catastrophic to forests and people alike. In contrast, prescribed fire can be used by forest professionals every couple of years to keep forest fuels at an appropriate and manageable level. They can also minimize the spread of pest insects and disease and remove unwanted tree and plant species. Plus, they can create and maintain important wildlife habitats rich in grasses and promote the growth of trees, wildflowers and other various plants. Many organizations and agencies work to promote fire on the landscape when and where appropriate. Smokey Bear even has an updated wa rning: “Only You can Prevent Wildfires,” as the Forest Service has over the last few decades developed policies and procedures to include prescribed fire as a management tool, as well as continuing their work to prevent and fight wildfires.27.Why did the author mention Smoky the Bear's warning?A. To introduce the topic of the passage.B. To clarify a misunderstood concept.C. To show the significance of fire prevention.D. To raise people's awareness of forest protection.28. What can benefit birds according to Herbert Stoddard?A. Forest bushes.B. Fuel sources.C. Pine forests.D. Periodic burning.29. What is the purpose of prescribed fire?A. To put out wildfires.B. To keep the forest balance.C. To remove tree and plant species.D. To keep the fuel rich in the forest.30. What might be the best title for the passage?A. One Match Can Start A Forest FireB. Where There Is Smoke There Is A FireC. Not All Forest Fires Are Created EqualD. Why Not Keep The Forest Fire Burning21-23BAD 24-26DCB 27-30ADBC浙江省嵊州市2021届5月高考科目适应性考试(二模)英语试题第一节(共10小题;每小题2.5分,满分25分)阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。

保护环境阻止野生动物消失英语作文

保护环境阻止野生动物消失英语作文

保护环境阻止野生动物消失英语作文英文回答:Protecting the environment is crucial to prevent the extinction of wildlife. The health and well-being ofwildlife populations are intricately connected to the ecosystems they inhabit, and the degradation or destruction of these ecosystems poses a significant threat to their survival.Habitat loss and fragmentation are among the primary causes of wildlife extinction. As human populations grow and expand, they encroach upon natural areas, fragmenting habitats and isolating wildlife populations. This loss of connectivity can hinder movement, reproduction, and the exchange of genetic material, leading to population decline and increased vulnerability to threats such as disease and inbreeding.Pollution also plays a major role in wildlifeextinction. Pollutants such as pesticides, heavy metals, and plastics can accumulate in the environment and harm wildlife through various pathways. They can poison individuals, disrupt their reproductive systems, or damage their habitat. For example, plastic pollution can entangle marine animals and interfere with their feeding and movement.Climate change is another pressing threat to wildlife. Rising temperatures and changes in precipitation patterns alter habitats, disrupt food webs, and can lead to extreme weather events such as droughts, floods, and wildfires. These changes can make it difficult for wildlife to adapt and survive, particularly for species specialized to specific ecological niches.Invasive species introduced by humans can also have devastating impacts on wildlife. They may compete with native species for resources, transmit diseases, or prey upon them. Invasive species can alter ecosystems and disrupt the interactions between species, leading to the decline or even extinction of native wildlife.Hunting and poaching remain significant threats to many wildlife species. Illegal hunting and poaching for fur, meat, or other commercial purposes can deplete populations and drive species to the brink of extinction. The international wildlife trade is a major driver of poaching, and it is estimated that billions of dollars are generated annually from the sale of wildlife and wildlife products.Protecting the environment and preventing wildlife extinction requires a comprehensive and multifaceted approach. Conservation efforts should focus on preserving and restoring habitats, reducing pollution, mitigating climate change, controlling invasive species, and combating illegal wildlife trade.Habitat protection includes establishing protected areas such as national parks and wildlife refuges, implementing land-use planning to minimize habitat fragmentation, and restoring degraded ecosystems. Reducing pollution involves regulating and managing the use of pesticides and other harmful chemicals, promoting wastereduction and recycling, and transitioning to renewable energy sources.Climate change mitigation requires reducing greenhouse gas emissions through measures such as transitioning to renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, andpromoting sustainable land-use practices. Control ofinvasive species involves managing their introduction and spread, implementing quarantine measures, and employing biological control methods. Combating illegal wildlifetrade requires strengthening international cooperation, enforcing laws, and raising public awareness about the devastating impacts of poaching and illegal wildlife trade.By taking these actions, we can protect the environment, safeguard wildlife populations, and ensure the survival of these vital components of our planet's biodiversity for generations to come.中文回答:保护环境以防止野生动物消失至关重要。

保护动物应采取的措施英语作文

保护动物应采取的措施英语作文

保护动物应采取的措施英语作文Title: Protecting the Voiceless: Initiatives for Wildlife ConservationThe chirp of a bird breaking the dawn's silence, the majestic roar of a lion echoing across the savannah, and the gentle hum of insects in a meadow—these are nature's orchestral compositions, reminders of the intricate symphony of life that thrives beyond human civilization. Yet, these musics are fading, as the habitats of countless species shrink under the shadow of human expansion. It is incumbent upon us to adopt measures that safeguard the voiceless, ensuring that the Earth’s biodiversity persists not just as a memory in textbooks but as living testimony of our planet’s bounty. To achieve this, conservation efforts must be multifaceted and comprehensive, encompassing legislation, education, habitat preservation, and direct animal protection. The initial step towards protecting wildlife is the enforcement of stringent laws that shield animals from exploitation and harm. This involves the strict implementation of regulations against poaching, illegal wildlife trade, and habitat destruction. Governments worldwide need to prioritize the enactment of such laws and allocate adequate resources for their execution, thereby sending a clear message that ecological vandalism will not be tolerated.Education plays a crucial role in fostering an ethos of conservation. By integrating wildlife protection into school curricula and organizing public awareness campaigns, we can nurture future generations to respect and cherish wildlife. Awareness initiatives should highlight the vital roles that animals play in ecosystems and the dire consequences of their disappearance. When people realize that every species loss ripples through the food web, affecting biodiversity and ecosystem services, they become more invested in the cause of conservation.Preserving natural habitats is tantamount to providing insurance for species survival. Creating protected areas such as national parks and wildlife reserves helps maintain the undisturbed environments that many species require to thrive. These green belts serve as oases in the desert of urbanization, offering hope for species at risk. Moreover, efforts should also focus on restoring and rehabilitating degraded habitats, a process known as rewilding, which can breathe new life into once-barren landscapes. On a more individual level, direct protection measuressuch as wildlife rehabilitation centers and captive breeding programs are indispensable. These facilities treat injured animals and provide a safe haven for those threatened by extinction. Captive breeding programs, particularly for critically endangered species, offer a chance for genetic diversity preservation and eventual reintroduction into the wild.Furthermore, support for organizations dedicated to conservation is imperative. Whether through volunteering or financial contributions, such support can bolster ongoing efforts and expand the impact of conservation projects. As individuals and communities participate more actively in conservation, a collective movement emerges, strengthening the resolve to protect wildlife. In conclusion, the mantle of animal conservation is not a burden but an obligation, a testament to our commitment to the diverse tapestry of life with which we share our planet. Through a synergy of legislative protection, educational outreach, habitat preservation, direct wildlife care, and support for conservation initiatives, we can ensure that the melodies of the wild continue to fill our world. Only by being stewards of the voiceless can we truly hear the music of thenatural world.。

如何保护昆虫天敌英语作文

如何保护昆虫天敌英语作文How to Protect Insect Predators。

As we all know, insects play an important role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem. However, with the development of modern agriculture and urbanization, the habitats of insects are being destroyed, and their populations are declining rapidly. In order to protect insects, we must also protect their natural predators, which are essential for controlling pests and maintaining a healthy ecosystem.Firstly, we should reduce the use of pesticides. Pesticides not only kill harmful insects but also harm beneficial insects, such as ladybugs, lacewings, and parasitic wasps, which are natural predators of pests. Therefore, we should use pesticides only when necessary and choose those that are less toxic to insects.Secondly, we should create habitats for insectpredators. We can plant flowers and herbs that attract beneficial insects, such as dill, fennel, and marigold. We can also provide nesting sites for bees and wasps, which are important pollinators and predators of pests.Thirdly, we should promote biological control. Biological control is the use of natural enemies to control pests. For example, we can introduce predatory insects, such as ladybugs and praying mantises, to control aphids and other pests. We can also use microbial pesticides, such as Bacillus thuringiensis, which are harmless to humans and other animals but effective against pests.Fourthly, we should support sustainable agriculture. Sustainable agriculture is a farming system that emphasizes the use of natural resources and ecological processes to maintain soil fertility and control pests. By using crop rotation, cover crops, and natural pest control methods, farmers can reduce the use of pesticides and protect insect predators. In conclusion, protecting insect predators is essentialfor maintaining a healthy ecosystem. By reducing the use of pesticides, creating habitats for beneficial insects, promoting biological control, and supporting sustainable agriculture, we can help to protect insects and their natural predators, and ensure a sustainable future for our planet.。

害虫保护措施英语作文

害虫保护措施英语作文Pest Protection Measures。

Pests are a major problem for farmers and gardeners, as they can cause significant damage to crops and plants. In this essay, we will discuss some of the most effective pest protection measures that can be taken to prevent andcontrol pests. The first and most important step in pest protection is to identify the type of pest that is causing the problem. This can be done by observing the damage caused to the plants or crops, or by examining the pests themselves. Once the pest has been identified, appropriate measures can be taken to control it.One of the most common pest protection measures is the use of pesticides. Pesticides are chemicals that are designed to kill or control pests. They can be applied directly to the plants or crops, or they can be used totreat the soil. However, the use of pesticides can have negative effects on the environment and can harm beneficial insects and animals. Therefore, it is important to use pesticides only when necessary and to follow the instructions carefully.Another effective pest protection measure is the use of natural predators. Many insects and animals are natural predators of pests, and can be used to control their populations. For example, ladybugs are natural predators of aphids, and can be released into a garden to control their population. Similarly, birds can be attracted to a garden by providing them with food and shelter, and can help to control pests such as caterpillars and beetles.Crop rotation is another effective pest protection measure. By rotating crops, pests are less likely to establish themselves in the soil. This is because pests often have specific host plants that they prefer, and by rotating crops, these host plants are not available to the pests. Finally, good sanitation practices can also help to prevent and control pests. This includes removing plant debris and fallen fruit from the garden, as these can provide a breeding ground for pests. It is also important to keep the garden clean and free of weeds, as these can attract pests and provide them with a place to hide.In conclusion, there are many effective pest protection measures that can be taken to prevent and control pests. These include the use of pesticides, natural predators, crop rotation, and good sanitation practices. By using these measures, farmers and gardeners can protect their crops and plants from damage caused by pests, and ensure a healthy and productive garden.。

The control range of each bird cage was more than 1 hm2, and the average decline rate of the population of O. dubia in the experimental area was 79.0%.Keywords:biological control; attraction of beneficial birds; Passer ammodendri阿拉善左旗位于内蒙古自治区西部,属温带荒漠干旱区,生态环境恶劣,风大沙多、干旱少雨,森林资源匮乏,植物种类少,树种单一,植被以旱生、超旱生﹑盐生、沙生的灌木、半灌木和小灌木为主,生物多样性差,抵御虫害能力弱,且灌木林主要分布在荒漠腹地,交通条件和沙漠水源、人力不足,虫害防治成本高、难度大。

Does not work for pigeons, as they are likely to return. ●Mechanical removal of bird nests (not permitted by law for endangered birds) ●Shooting of birds (not permitted by law for endangered birds; dislike from neighbours for reasons of noise and environmental issues).Physical reduction methodsMist netChemical reduction methodsPrevention and control of pest birds ●Avicides: use limited by law &
