英语(人教新课标)九全Unit 8阅读理解专练题及答案(共16页)Unit 8 It must belong to Carla第一部分:选择型A“Save the whales!” That's what the picture on Jake Smith's bedroom wall said. Jake liked having a picture that said something important; that showed he cared. He just never expected to get a chance to save a real whale, one right in his own neighbourhood. It was a Saturday morning when the newspaper first reported the whales' coming. A group of the animals were swimming close to the beach in Jake's hometown. All the local people rushed out to the beach to see them. They were expecting a beautiful show, better than a movie, but nothing they'd have to do anything about. Then one whale swam in their direction, directly towards land. It came in with the waves, and when the waves receded,it stayed. Its huge body rested on the sand. Suddenly, Jake and his family and all the others were no longer sightseers. They had to become rescuers. A few people ran towards the animal. They pushed and tried to force the whale back into the water, but it was no use.An animal rescue service team soon arrived in a truck with heavy lifting machinery, to help move the animal. Jake and his family couldn't do much on the beach, so they went back to their house and made sandwiches and hot tea for the rescuers. At least, Jake thought, they could help in some way.Back at the beach, they offered the food to the rescuers and were happy to see that it was needed. It was getting dark. Some people lined up their cars along the beach and shined the headlights on the sand. The rescuers would not give up. After trying many times they were finally able to lift the whale into the water.Everyone cheered when it headed out to sea. It swam out about a mile and then disappeared for a moment under the sea. Then, in what looked like a jump of joy, it rose high above the water—a thankyou to those who had worked so hard to save its life.1. Is your mobile phone directory full of phone numbers of people you don't really want to talk to? Do you go out with people from work or school more often than with your real friends? Do you say yes to invitations because you think you should, not because you want to? If you answered yes to at least two ofthese questions, then perhaps you need to "edit your friends".Nowadays people like to spend a lot of time with people at work or classmates at school. The result is that we don't have enough time to see our real, close friends. As our lives get busier, it becomes more important to spend the little free time we have with people we really want to see, people we love and who really love us.Who are the friends you need to edit? A few years ago I read a book about how to get rid of unnecessary possessions(物品). It said you should ask yourself about each thing you have: Is it useful? Do I really like it? Do I feel better every time I look at it? If the answer is no to any one of those questions, you should throw it away. Maybe we should ask similar questions about our friends. What kind of friends will you probably need to edit? Sometimes it's an old friend. Somebody who you used to have a lot in common with, but who, when you meet now, you have very little or nothing to say to. Or it might be a new friend who you get on quite well with, but who is taking up too much of your time. Next time one of these people calls you and suggests a meeting, think "Do I really want to seethis person?", and if the answer is no, say no, and make an excuse. That way you'll have more time to spend with your real friends.1. People need to edit their friends when .A. they have moved to a different areaB. they have no time with their real friendsC. some of their friends don't talk very muchD. their friends are people from work or school2. People don't need to edit their .A. real friendsB. young friendsC. old friendsD. new friends3. What does the writer want to tell us in Paragraph 3?A. We should often throw some possessions.B. Most of our friends are not necessary at all.C. We shouldn't treat our friends as possessions.D. We should ask ourselves who our real friends are.参考答案1—3、BADKWhen people go to England, they must learn somethingabout transportation there. In England, cars, buses and bikes must keep to the left side of the street. 九年级期末题型突破13 阅读理解(C篇)阅读单选(C篇)一Smile Train is a charity (慈善团体) that helps the millions of children around the world, who suffer from a facial defect (缺陷). The defect happens when a baby’s top lip or mouth doesn’t form properly before birth. Eating and drinking is very difficult for these babies. The charity provides free operations, which give these children a new smile, and with it, new hope and a new beginning.Children with the defect need all the help. 句子还原及信息搭配【2015某某】DWhy is setting goals(目标) important? Because goals can help you do and experience everything you want in life. Instead of just letting life happen to you, goals allow you tomake your life happen.Successful people in life imagine how their life should be andset lots of goals. 61 It's like having a sign to show you whereyou want to go. Think of it this way. There are two drivers. Onehas a place to go to clearly in mind which can be found on a map. He can drive straight there surely without any wasted time. The other driver has no goal, or a map. 62 But he drives aimlessly (漫无目的地) around, never getting anywhere, just using up oil. Which driver do you want to be?63 They decide what they want in life and then get there by setting goals and making plans. Unsuccessful people usually just let life happen by accident. Goals aren’t difficult to set and they aren't difficult to reach. 64 You are the one who must decide what to achieve and in what direction to aim your life.Research tells us that when we write a goal down we are more likely to achieve it. 65 They are harder to forget. Also when you write your goals in your own way, you are able to make yourself realize situations that will bring you nearer to your goal.根据材料内容,从下面五个选顶中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使短文意思通顺、内容完整。
