The four great inventions in ancient China Four great inventions of ancient China are very important creation by Han ethnic working people, they refer to papermaking, the compass, gunpowder, and printing. Four kinds of its invention had the most significant impact in ancient China, and even the history of world science and technology. This viewpoint was first proposed by the British scholar Joseph Needham, and later inherited by many of Chinese historian. Four inventions generally considered had a huge role in promoting ancient Chinese political, economic and cultural development, and these inventions by various ways to the west, has also had a great impact on the history of world civilization.

f hieroglyphs, they were initially meant to be simple pictures used to help people remember things. After a long period of development, it finally became a unique character system that embodies phonetic sound, image, idea, and rhyme at the same time. The writing system, which was extremely advanced in ancient times, began with inscriptions on bones and tortoise shells, and these are regarded as the original forms of Chinese characters. Afterwards, Chinese characters went through numerous calligraphic styles: bronze inscriptions, official script, regular script, cursive script, running script, etc. The five basic strokes of Chinese characters are:"---(the horizontal stroke),|(the vertical stroke, /(the left-falling stroke), \ the right-falling stroke, 乙 the turning stroke)" Chinese which is the most widely spoken language in the world. There are many regional dialects of Chinese althou gh the most widely spoken is Mandarin and Cantonese. C hinese contains over 49,000 characters, but a welleducated person can recognize around 6,000 characters, a bout 3,000 are required to read a newspaper.

The art of paper-cutting originated in China and it can date back to the second century C.E. since paper was invented by Cai Lun in the Eastern Han Dynasty in China. Chinese Paper Cutting also named Jianzhi ( 剪纸); as paper became more affordable, papercutting became to one of the important art styles in Chinese folk culture and the art form later spread to other parts of the world with different regions adopting their own cultural styles. Because the cut outs are always used to decorate doors and windows, they are sometimes referred to "chuāng huā" (窗花), meaning Window Flower. People glued the art on the exterior of the windows and the light can go through the negative space of the cutout. The artist most often use red paper to make artwork, but they also use colored-paper to collage.
