HolidaysA:Good morning, B.B:Morning, A. The spring festival is coming,do you like itA:Of course. It’s a precious time for all family members to get together. Everyone, no matter adults or children, will get a new suit. And my mother will prepare so many delicious food for the new year's eve. Are there any traditions in your hometownB:Yes. According to the tradition, we will eat different kinds of dumplings at different time.A:ReallyB:Yeah. During supper time, we eat meat dumplings, while at 0:00, we eat dumplings without meat. I don’t know why.A:Sounds interesting. The Valentine’s Day is around the Spring Festival this year, will you celebrate itB:Maybe not. Though the Western Holidays are becoming more and more popular in China. What’s your opi nionA:I think that the commercial benefits are the greatest motivation. Why do more and more people come to know about western festivals The forceful reason is that there are too many advertisements all around us.B:I absolutely agree with you. Businessmen are trying their best to make a fortune from those Western Holidays. I'd like to discuss it next time we meet. Have a nice holidayA: Thank you The same to you.TravelA: Hey, where are you goingB: I will go to buy a train ticket to go home.A: I know you really like travelling.B: Yes, of course, I think everyone like it.A: So what do you think the meaning of the travelB: I think it includes many sides, but the most important is that it lets me forget the troubles of reality and enjoy a short and quiet life. it also can let me feel different urban culture that could open my horizons. How about youA: I like the feeling of travelling on the road. I really want to travel every day in a different way .but not now, because I also have many responsibilities.B: Ah, you’re a good boy. Who do you want to travel withA: I want to travel with my future wife and my children.B: Don’t you want to travel with your parentsA: Of course, I really want to take them to go to a beautiful place with my own money, it’s a pity that I have never done this until now.B: Do you like traveling in china or going abroadA: I like our country, so I want to go to many domestic places.B: Which place do you want to go mostlyA: I have heard that when you don’t know where to go, th en you go to lijiang and I really want to go this two places.B: It sounds great. But I have to go now, you know the ticket is hard to buy at this time, I will talk to you later.A:OK, see you later.B:See you.EducationA: Hi, B. How is everything goingB: Fine, thank you. How about youA: Not bad, but I am busy looking for some materials about college education in China. Can you give me some adviceB: Eh… I think the public colleges in China have the best condition and high-quality teachers. Most of students want to enter those, such as Tsinghua University and Peking University. Compared with the public universities, the private colleges are not very popular for students in China.A: Yes, I have learned that good universities have many excellent students. Generally speaking, they achieved high scores in the national college entrance examination. Besides, good universities have excellent atmosphere of study and varieties of teaching facilities. So this’s the reason why it makes such a large difference, rightB: Yes, it is really a very important factor. The other universities have less resource due to the lack of money. What’s more, their students can’t make the full use of time and limited resource.A:I absolutely agree with you, do you have any other adviceB: There is a bad phenomenon in Chinese universities. Students have a general lack of practical ability and can’t put theories into practice. It leads to a result that they can’t adapt to the work in future. This is the main problem of education in China.A:Oh that is really a serious problem, I will pay much attention on it. OK, what you said gave me a lot of help. Thanks for your advice again.B: You are welcome.EnvironmentA: Hi, Dennis. How are youB: Fine, thanks .What about youA: I'm fine too. But, the air quality these days is so bad. It almost makes me crazy.B: Yes, these years, the air pollution is very serious, but all of these are from our problem- industrial overdevelopment.A: Human beings have both the ability of create and destroy the word.B: Except this, the environment has been damaged by global warming, the damaged ozone and all the different kinds of pollution.A: So, recently, environment issues have been part of global issues. Do we have any ways to solve these problemsB: We can only hope that all of the countries in the world get together and agree on a plan for action, but I doubt it’ll happen before it’s too late.A: Yes, that’s really a problem. Actually, there have been lots of new technologies on environment protection. But the application of these technologies has a high cost, so popularizing them has many resistances from countries, corporations and individuals.B: Most of us look at the issue in the short term. It’s just like the destruction of the rainforests. People just want the wood. They don’t think about the long-term damage to the forests.A: En, fortunately, more and more people have realized all these problems and have taken measures to improve the earth's environment.B: But in our country, it is not enough.A: Agree with you. It seems that we still have a long way to go.JobsA: Hello Dennis How are youB: Fine, thanks. And youA: I’m fine, too. I knew you are looking for a job recently, what kind of job do you prefer, the one well-paid or the one you loveB: I hope I can find a well-paid job which also attracts me.A: Who not But maybe it just happens in your dreams.B: So it is. Well, frankly speaking, a well-paid job will be my first choice. I need enough money to do the things I like.A: As for me, salary would not be the priority. I’d rather choose a job I enjoy doing.B: I think I’ll stick my choice. In fact, most people don’t take job for fun. Work is nothing but means to survive.A: But I consider work as an important part of our life. If a person takes a job he doesn’t like, and there’s less possibility to get a career success.B: For me, high salary is just the best motivation to do my job efficiently. I will foster my interest in it and do my best to make the job success.A: I got it. We must consider about our life cost first, and second our interest. That’s the reality everyone faces.B: Yeah. So, although the chance of finding a job that both pays well and attracts us is slight, let’s believe in miracles and have a try.A: Wish you a good luck.B: Thank you, the same to you.CultureA: Good morningB: Good morningA: I saw you were just reading China daily. Is there anything interestingB: Yes, maybe the news that China set up its first Laozi research institute will arouse your interestA: Oh, yes, I heard about it too. It shows that we begin to pay attention to the Chinese traditional culture.B: Traditional culture is our precious heritage, but nowadays more and more people become unfamiliar with it.A: That’s because lately years, our country focus on the economic construction and overemphasize the importance of science and technology. Youth admire the modern western civilization, and ignore our own culture.B: Well, that is really a problem worth discussing. Do you know that there is a modern sishu in Suzhou and in it teachers wear a long traditional Chinese robe, and the students have to bow to an image of ConfuciusA: That sounds interesting. I really think we should add the traditional culture courses in our education system. But, is it just a teaching form or somethingB: Oh,it is not just a form. The students will read a lot of morality stories and ancient poetry, it will help them to learn the essence of our ancient culture which makes a person to be polite, upright and so on.A: Great That is just what most of us can’t learn in the school teaching nowadays.B: Yes, everyone must understand which kind of culture should be inherit, and which not.A:I agree with you, it’s a long way to go for us.EntertainmentA: Hi Long time no see.B: Yeah. I heard that you had got through a quite busy month. So, did you do anything interesting to relax yourself during the holidayA: Nothing special, I lived alone with my computer all the 3 days.B: I can’t imagine you spent so much time on computer. How could youA: Browsing the websites, chatting with my friends, enjoying the newest teleplays, movies, music, and so on. I always spend my leisure time in this way.B: But I don’t think it’s good for our health to face the screen for such a long time. Maybe we need do some sports outdoors to refresh ourselves.A: Just likeB: Tennis, badminton, football, basketball, running and so on. But it’s really a pity that we can’t do sports in the cold winter.A: You could consider about some variety shows, especially the Star talk shows and talent shows. I think they’re very funny.B: I have no interest in them and feel they make no sense except fun.A: It’s just a show. Why so serious Just like snack food, it may be not nutritious, but delicious. That’s enough.B: Sounds interesting. I always thought entertainment circle is too complex, and excluded variety shows. Maybe I should change myself. Could you give me any adviceA: Of course. I often watch Happy Camp, the Voice of China and Running Man. Oh, Where are we going, Dad is so hot recently, and it’s really warm and relaxing.B: I’ll have a try. Thank you.HealthA: Good morning, Dennis.B: Good morning, Nero.A: You don’t look very good today, what happenedB: Oh, thanks to the severe weather and endless work, I catch a cold.A: Poor girl, you should take care of your health, because health is the base of fighting, is that rightB: I know, so I decide give myself several days off to relax.A: Good decision, you know, work will never finish, so you needn’t to worry much about it. B: Yeah. I can’t have a high efficiency these days, so I’ll tell my teacher about it and ask a sick leave.A: Anyway, do you have any medicine You look really bad.B: Medicine That is not my first choice. I haven’t took medicine for five years.A: Five years Is it true Is this your first time to be sick in the past five yearsB: Of cause not, you must be kidding.A: Sick-medicine, is it an unwritten ruleB: But there is also an old saying that medicine is also a poison.A: But you must do something, or it will become worse.B: When I have a little sick, I will take more rest, drink more hot water and eat more fresh fruits and vegetable.A: Sounds reasonable. But what if it doesn’t work, what will you doB: I will go to see the doctor. But it always works for such little illness.A: OK, may you well soon.B: Thank youBanksA: Good morning, Dennis.B: Good morning, Nero.A: You don’t look very good today, what happenedB: I just failed to get a credit card from Merchant Bank. It is really a waste of my time for nearly an hour.A: Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that. WhyB: Because we are still students and don’t have a sta ble source of income to ensure the credit.A: I got it. But I think as a student, we don’t really need a credit card. A debit card is enough for our daily life.B: So it is. But you know, I’m applying for an exchange student to the US, and have to pay some international fees online. A visa credit card is one of the best choices.A: It’s really a problem. I know Lily has been to the US twice, maybe you can ask her for some help. And do you have any other waysB: I think my parents must be able to get the credit card successfully, I’ll call them later.A: But it always takes half a month at least for a new credit card. If you have something urgent, you’d better call Lily.B: Yes, of course. Thank you for your advice. I’m going to call my father soon. Bye.A: Y ou’re welcome. Good luckPhone callsA: Hi , I called you last night , but your phone was off .B: Oh,I’m sorry. My mobile was out of battery .A: we rely on the mobile phone so much that we don’t know how to communicate with each otherwithout them.B: I agree with you. The regular use of mobile phone enables us to get in touch with others from thousandmiles away. But it also ends up with less face to face communication.A: yes.. We overlook the traditional communication methods. Nowadays , fewer people prefer to writeletters rather than send e-mail or short messages .B: This is a common phenomenon. E -mail is quick and convenient. It can be saved and edited easily. Usinge-mail has become a main trend.A: But the paper letter should not be abandoned . The expression of letter is elegant and romantic.B: But I have to say the high technology really make our lives more convenient . It enabled the disabledpeople to communicate with others , saves our time and give us aid when we encounter emergent events.A: yes .Your idea is very objective . I think phone calls will play more important roles in our dailycommunication.B: we can call others at any time . Phone can make the distance of hearts closer no matter how far the twopeople are separated from each other .A:I will call you next time . See you .B:see you .。
英语口语考试话题对话

1. What should be given priority(优先) in education? knowledge, skills or creativity? why ? How can schools and colleges encourage creativity in students?X: Hello, guys. I’m so sorry I am late. Yesterday ,I read an article about knowledge, skills and creativity in education. What do you think should be given priority in education?Y: As far as I am concerned, knowledge is the most important thing in education.X:Uh [ən],Why?Y: Without enough knowledge, one is not able to understand how to practise, that is to say, skills could not be formed. Secondly, creativity is also based on appropriate(适当的) mastery(精通,熟练;统治,控制;优势) of knowledge, if knowledge is limitted, how could Einstein find the Relativity theory(学说;理论;原理;推测).In a word, it seems to me that knowledge is the primary thing in education.H: However, we should not be limitted to knowledge itself, as knowledge is expanding just like our mind, and creativity plays an important role in the development of knowledge, so the cultivation(教养;栽培;耕作;(关系的)培植) of creativity in education is significant(重要的;有意义的;有重大意义的;值得注意的).X: How can schools and colleges encourage creativity in students? W: To make students creative, ①the first thing to do is to encourage them to speak out their ideas. Do not limit their mind; let them imagine. ②Of course, your guidance(指导,引导;导航;领导) is of great importance. Effective guidance helps the development of creativity. For instance(例子,实例), a positive assessment [əˈsesmənt] (评估;评价), even a smile would stimulate(刺激, 激励, 鼓舞) them to open their mind.大家:Yeah, you are right.2. Why do people get depressed(情绪低落的,沮丧的;)? Is there any connection(连接;联系,关系;连接点;亲戚) between depression and bad luck? Can depression be overcome(战胜,克服;压倒,制服)?X: Good morning! Recently I have had bad luck.H: What happened? You look Unhappy.W:Let me guess. It is seem to me that people get depressed [dɪˈprest] for a variety of reasons . For instance ,when they have nothing to do next.X: Yeah,I lost my favorite watch. Besides, I didn’t passing the VB test.H: Is there any connection(连接;联系,关系;连接点;亲戚) between depression and bad luck?Y: There seems to be a relationship between depression and bad luck [lʌk]. If your spirits are down and you show it, people might refrain [rɪˈfren] (抑制,克制)from talking to you. Many good opportunities may slip away as a result. And you might be left wondering why your luck doesn’t change.X: Can depression be overcome(战胜,克服;压倒,制服)?H: There is no denying [dɪˈnaɪ] that depression can be overcame if you are optimistic enough to face even the greatest difficulty you have ever met in your daily life.大家:Come on!3. My sister failed an interview again yesterday.X: I have a problem .When a boss employs or promotes people, he will consider their education first or their practical ability first? W: If education and practical only can choose one, I will choose the later. Because I think a company’s profits come from the abilities of the entire [ɪnˈtaɪər] (全部的;整个的;全体的;囫囵) staff. Many of the qualities of a good worker such as diligence, teamwork, loyalty[ˈlɔɪəlti] to the company, and polite to customers are gained [geɪnd] through on-the-job training rather than from book knowledge.Y: I don’t think so.X:What’s your opinion?Y:However, one’s educational background is not unimportant. Some bosses are consider the education more than the practical ability, In my opinion, I think different field have different choice. Working or pursue a postgraduate degree?Y: Some students prefer to look for a favorable job, through which they can gain useful experience that they cannot get from books. It’s also my opinion. It is high time I should be independent and try to make a living all by myself. I should be grateful for my parents for raising me all these years, and be responsible formyself.W: What’s your idea Mr.Hou?H: Personally I would pursue a postgraduate degree. And we all know, knowledge is power [ˈpaʊɚ]. Although not everything you learn will be applicable [əˈplɪkəbl] at work, knowledge does improve your character overall. In the long run, those who acquire[əˈkwaɪər] more knowledge will benefit from it.W: How about you ? Miss Xie?X: I am the same with Miss Wen. I prefer to find a suitable job and get a good salary . Without any doubt, we should prohibit [prəˈhɪbɪt](禁止;妨碍) it. W:Yeah, I agree. This year, a new regulation has been enforced bygovernment that drunk drivers will receive severe [sɪˈvɪr](严厉的;严重的) punishment.X: That is good news to hear .W: From my point of view, the drivers should behave themselves, never drink before driving, be careful when there are some bad weathers [ˈweðər], especially when it's foggy [ˈfɔːɡi] and snowy [ˈsnoʊi]. Besides ,the government should make some laws about it and punish the drink drivers serverly.Y: I can't agree with you more. 大学英语口语话题对话考试材料

以下是整理的《⼤学英语⼝语话题对话考试材料》,希望⼤家喜欢! University and Campus Life Chen: Now, let’s talk about our campus life. I like our library best. There are so many books there. I like reading books, and there are many old books which cannotbe easily found in book shops. The building looks like a castle; it seems the building is very large and I always get lost in library. Wu: Woo, you are so brave. I don’t think it’s safe to stay in the library. I always hung around in the campus, especially in summer evening. The old building looks very grand in the dim light of sunset. And I can always meet some friends, it feels good to meet a friend by accident and have a free chat with him. Dong: Yeah, I always see you in the campus at night. I like hung around too. While, I like do sports better, such as playing badminton, swimming. I don’t like outdoor sports because I don’t think the air is healthy enough to breath. To be honest, as a hard working man, I spend most of the part-time studying in classrooms. I think it’s really convenient for us to study in our school. The students in the classroom are always very quiet, and you can focus on your books easily. That’s why I can get high marks in almost all the exams. Chen: Err…..I’m not a hard working man; I spend a lot of time reading novels. I don’t like this campus at all, so I always devote myself in the fantastic world created by the writers. On the other hand, I think reading book helps a lot in my study; it improves my imagination a lot. Wu: I spend much time playing guitar, and I’m the rhythm guitar of a rock band called P.A. Our style is death metal, and it’s always difficult to play well. Every member of the band admire the time we play together. It’s really exciting to play that kind of music. I’m really grateful that our school can provide places to run over our songs and hold concerts. Dong: I can imagine the girls screaming besides the stage. But I can hardly accept that kind of music. What a happy talk. I’m grate that all of us will get further education here.Nations and Traditions Chen: Let’s talk about some different countries. Which country do you like to go for your graduation tour? Wu: I would like to go to Japan. I think Japan is a very strange country. It’s both modern and traditional. There are many shopping centers and bars and there are many temples as well.Japan is famous for its Fuji Mouton, hot springs and Gasher show. And Japanese food is also very famous because it’s very healthy, but it’s very expensive. Transportation is very convenient; you will never worry that you can not by the tickets. It seems that Japanese are all well educated and they are always very polite to each other and Japanese women smell almost all the time. These can make you feel relaxed and happy. As Japan is a high-tech country, electronic products are very cheep there. And it’s an important reason why many Chinese want to visit Japan. Dong: Well, I don’t think Japanese are polite to us Chinese. And sometimes it’s not safe to Chinese. I think Germany is the best choice to me. There are many casuals and churches. Most of them have a long history. And I like old western buildings. I would like to visit the museums to get to know German history. My major is machinery design manufacturing and automation; many German universities are the top in this field around the world. The most famous one is Asshen. There is a saying, if Asshen says Asshen is the second best in the world, MIT dare not to say MIT is the first one. If I’m lucky enough, I want to visit Asshen. German beer is well known around the world; I must have a try though I’m not good at drinking. Chen: I like European countries too. I want to go to France. It’s a beautiful land with romance. The nature scenery is very good. I’m sure I will take many beautiful photos. I am interested in the history of Napoleon’s time. I want to visit the museums to have a further study on the history. I’d like visit the palaces too, especially Fanersai Palace and Luvoe Palace. I know there are many famous paintings and carvings in the Palaces and I really want to have a look. French dish is very famous and I think it’s worth to have a taste. French perfume is very famous, I’d like to buy some for my mother.Health and Lifestyle Chen: There are more and more students smoke cigarettes in our dormitory. I think this is a terrible phenomenon. Sometimes we are under pressure, but we should relax ourselves in some other ways. Smoking is bad for both smokers and the people don’t smoke but live besides smokers. And smoking may cause fire disaster. Wu: Yeah, I agree with you. I never smoke and I hate the smelling. As I play rock music in HIT, many friends around me smoke. I know them well and they suffer from health problems sometime. To be healthy is very important, everybody know this, but few people around us can do well. In HIT, almost all male professors are heavy smokers, and many of them are over weight. All of professors in my lab are not living healthily, they have no time to do sports and they often have to be drunk when they are having meals with their customers. Some of them have heart disease though they are still very young. This make me decide not to be a professor in a university. Dong:But it’s also very busy working in companies in big cities. And you may not have time to take care of you health. We have to struggle for houses and family. I would choose a small city so that I can enjoy a relaxed and healthy life though I will not earn much money. The houses in small cities are much cheaper, so we won’t worry too much about houses though our salaries are not very high. Chen: Yeah, that’s why the people living in small cities fell happier than the people living in big cities. Small cities are my choice as well. I want to cool meals at home because I don’t think it’s good to eat too much fast food as most working people in big cities do. And I think they waste too much time on the road everyday. Dong: And I want to play with my baby everyday after work. It seems impossible if every member in my family have to waste two to three hours on road. Small cities are quieter than big cities and I don’t like noisy places.Science and Technology A: Who is your favorite scientist, A? B: You mean scientist like Albert Einstein, or scientist about anything? A: Anything. B: Oh, en…I think Steve Jobs is my favorite science worker. A: Really? So you like Apples? B: Yeah~I like every product of Apple, the Ipod, iphone, ipad, Itouch…Sometimes I feel like I had a lust to these fascinating electronic products. A: Do you own any of them? Food and Drink A: What do you have for breakfast, B? B: My breakfast? Let me see… mostly some instant noodles and soybean milk, sometimes I would add an egg. If I were still hungry, I would eat a steamed bread or a meat pie. A: Interesting, my breakfast is almost the same with you! C: And so do mine! A: Seems like the students in HIT do not have too many options for their breakfast…What about your lunch? I think we would have some diversity here. B: Mostly I would eat in the second floor of xueshi restroom because it’s close to our dormitory. My favorite food there is the fried chicken, it tastes tender and delicious, and it’s only 3.5 yuan, not very expensive considering the good taste it has. A: Don’t you eat any vegetables? B: Yes, I always order some cauliflower, cabbage, carrot and cucumber. I like vegetables. I think eating vegetable could make you more healthy and stronger. Meanwhile, I always buy some fruits after dinner and bring them to my dormitory. I like apples, bananas and pears. Since the summer is coming I prefer watermelon now. A: Do you have any drinks? B: Mostly don’t. but if I just did some sports, I think I will be thirsty and need some soda water like spirit and coca cola. A: Don’t you eat outside, I mean what else place do you eat except for school restraints? C: I eat outside. A: Really? What place? C: At the barbecue restraints outside the east gate of the campus. A: How often do you eat there? C: About once a week. Almost every weekend I would go outside and eat. I take this as way forrecreation and fun. We would order some mutton and beef, and eat them with some beer. It’s quite fun to drink beer with your friends. A: Do you get drunk? C: No~ we never drink too much, it’s just for fun. Meanwhile, we have classes next day. A: What else do you eat besides barbecue? C: Sometimes we would also go to the dumpling restraint to eat some dumplings, the dumplings in Harbin is really delicious, and they have many different kind of stuffing, such as pork, mutton, beef, corn, chicken and so on. C: What about you? Have you ever got drunk? A: Yes, once a time I eat with my college classmates, we played so high and drank a lot beer, many of us got drunk. we need to be carried to the dormitory by those students who were still clear. C: What do you fell when you are drunk? A: I feel dizzy, and I could hardly remember anything I did when I was drunk, I’m just so tired and exhausted. I got asleep as soon as I got to my bed, and when I wake up the next day, I still feel bad on my stomach. C: It’s really a terrible experience! A: Yeah~。

HolidaysA:Good morning, B.B:Morning, A. The spring festival is coming,do you like it?A:Of course. It’s a precious time for all family members to get together. Everyone, no matter adults or children, will get a new suit. And my mother will prepare so many delicious food for the new year's eve. Are there any traditions in your hometown?B:Yes. According to the tradition, we will eat different kinds of dumplings at different time.A:Really?B:Yeah. During supper time, we eat meat dumplings, while at 0:00, we eat dumplings without meat. I don’t know why.A:Sounds interesting. The Valentine’s Day is around the Spring Festival this year, will you celebrate it?B:Maybe not. Though the Western Holidays are becoming more and more popular in China. What’s your opinion?A:I think that the commercial benefits are the greatest motivation. Why do more and more people come to know about western festivals? The forceful reason is that there are too many advertisements all around us. B:I absolutely agree with you. Businessmen are trying their best to make a fortune from those Western Holidays. I'd like to discuss it next time we meet. Have a nice holiday!A: Thank you! The same to you.TravelA: Hey, where are you going ?B: I will go to buy a train ticket to go home.A: I know you really like travelling.B: Yes, of course, I think everyone like it.A: So what do you think the meaning of the travel?B: I think it includes many sides, but the most important is that it lets me forget the troubles of reality and enjoy a short and quiet life. it also can let me feel different urban culture that could open my horizons. How about you?A: I like the feeling of travelling on the road. I really want to travel every day in a different way .but not now, because I also have many responsibilities.B: Ah, you’re a good boy. Who do you want to travel with?A: I want to travel with my future wife and my children.B: Don’t you want to travel with your parents?A: Of course, I really want to take them to go to a beautiful place with my own money, it’s a pity that I have never done this until now.B: Do you like traveling in china or going abroad?A: I like our country, so I want to go to many domestic places.B: Which place do you want to go mostly?A: I have heard that when you don’t know where to go, then you go to lijiang and Xizang.so I really want to go this two places.B: It sounds great. But I have to go now, you know the ticket is hard to buy at this time, I will talk to you later.A:OK, see you later.B:See you.EducationA: Hi, B. How is everything going?B: Fine, thank you. How about you?A: Not bad, but I am busy looking for some materials about college education in China. Can you give me some advice?B: Eh… I think the public colleges in China have the best condition and high-quality teachers. So this’s the reason why it makes s uch a large difference, right?B: Yes, it is really a very important factor. The other universities have less resource due to the lack of money. What’s more, their students can’t make the full use of time and limited resource.A:I absolutely agree with you, do you have any other advice?B: There is a bad phenomenon in Chinese universities. How are you?B: Fine, thanks .What about you?A: I'm fine too. Do we have any ways to solve these problems?B: We can only hope that all of the countries in the world get together and agree on a plan for action, but I doubt it’ll happen before it’s too late.A: Yes, that’s really a problem. It seems that we still have a long way to go.JobsA: Hello Dennis! How are you?B: Fine, thanks. And you?A: I’m fine, too. I knew you are looking for a job recently, what kind of job do you prefer, the one well-paid or the one you love?B: I hope I can find a well-paid job which also attracts me.A: Who not? But maybe it just happens in your dreams.B: So it is. So, although the chance of finding a job that both pays well and attracts us is slight, let’s believe in miracles and have a try.A: Wish you a good luck.B: Thank you, the same to you.CultureA: Good morning!B: Good morning!A: I saw you were just reading China daily. Is there anything interesting?B: Yes, maybe the news that China set up its first Laozi research institute will arouse your interest A: Oh, yes, I heard about it too. It shows that we begin to pay attention to the Chinese traditional culture. B: Traditional culture is our precious heritage, but nowadays more and more people become unfamiliar with it.A: That’s because lately years, our country focus on the economic construction and overemphasize the importance of science and technology. Youth admire the modern western civilization, and ignore our own culture.B: Well, that is really a problem worth discussing. Do you know that there is a modern sishu in Suzhou and in it teachers wear a long traditional Chinese robe, and the students have to bow to an image of Confucius?A: That sounds interesting. I really think we should add the traditional culture courses in our education system. But, is it just a teaching form or something?B: Oh,it is not just a form. The students will read a lot of morality stories and ancient poetry, it will help them to learn the essence of our ancient culture which makes a person to be polite, upright and so on.A: Great! That is just what most of us can’t learn in the school teaching nowadays.B: Yes, everyone must understand which kind of culture should be inherit, and which not.A:I agree with you, it’s a long way to go for us.EntertainmentA: Hi! Long time no see.B: Yeah. I heard that you had got through a quite busy month. So, did you do anything interesting to relax yourself during the holiday?A: Nothing special, I lived alone with my computer all the 3 days.B: I can’t imagine you spent so much time on computer. How could you?A: Browsing the websites, chatting with my friends, enjoying the newest teleplays, movies, music, and so on.I always spend my leisure time in this way.B: But I don’t think it’s good for our health to face the screen for such a long time. Maybe we need do some sports outdoors to refresh ourselves.A: Just like?B: Tennis, badminton, football, basketball, running and so on. But it’s really a pity that we can’t do sports in the cold winter.A: You could consider about some variety shows, especially the Star talk shows and talent shows. I think they’re very funny.B: I have no interest in them and feel they make no sense except fun.A: It’s just a show. Why so serious? Just like snack food, it may be not nutritious, but delicious. That’s enough.B: Sounds interesting. I always thought entertainment circle is too complex, and excluded variety shows. Maybe I should change myself. Could you give me any advice?A: Of course. I often watch Happy Camp, the Voice of China and Running Man. Oh, Where are we going, Dad is so hot recently, and it’s really warm and relaxing.B: I’ll have a try. Thank you.HealthA: Good morning, Dennis.B: Good morning, Nero.A: You don’t look very good today, what happened?B: Oh, thanks to the severe weather and endless work, I catch a cold.A: Poor girl, you should take care of your health, because health is the base of fighting, is that right?B: I know, so I decide give myself several days off to relax.A: Good decision, you know, work will never finish, so you needn’t to worry much about it.B: Yeah. I can’t have a high efficiency these days, so I’ll tell my teacher about it and ask a sick leave. A: Anyway, do you have any medicine? You look really bad.B: Medicine? That is not my first choice. I haven’t took medicine for five years.A: Five years? Is it true? Is this your first time to be sick in the past five years?B: Of cause not, you must be kidding.A: Sick-medicine, is it an unwritten rule?B: But there is also an old saying that medicine is also a poison.A: But you must do something, or it will become worse.B: When I have a little sick, I will take more rest, drink more hot water and eat more fresh fruits and vegetable.A: Sounds reasonable. But what if it doesn’t work, what will you do?B: I will go to see the doctor. But it always works for such little illness.A: OK, may you well soon.B: Thank you!BanksA: Good morning, Dennis.B: Good morning, Nero.A: You don’t look very good today, what happened?B: I just failed to get a credit card from Merchant Bank. It is really a waste of my time for nearly an hour.A: Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that. Why?B: Because we are still students and don’t have a stable source of income to ensure the credit.A: I got it. And do you have any other ways?B: I think my parents must be able to get the credit card successfully, I’ll call them later.A: But it always takes half a month at least for a new credit card. If you have something urgent, you’d better call Lily.B: Yes, of course. Thank you for your advice. I’m going to call my fathe r soon. Bye.A: You’re welcome. Good luck!Phone callsA: Hi , I called you last night , but your phone was off .B: Oh,I’m sorry. My mobile was out of battery .A: we rely on the mobile phone so much that we don’t know how to communicate with each other without them.B: I agree with you. The regular use of mobile phone enables us to get in touch with others from thousandmiles away. But it also ends up with less face to face communication.A: yes.. We overlook the traditional communication methods. Nowadays , fewer people prefer to write letters rather than send e-mail or short messages .B: This is a common phenomenon. E -mail is quick and convenient. It can be saved and edited easily. Using e-mail has become a main trend.A: But the paper letter should not be abandoned . The expression of letter is elegant and romantic. B: But I have to say the high technology really make our lives more convenient . It enabled the disabled people to communicate with others , saves our time and give us aid when we encounter emergent events. A: yes .Your idea is very objective . I think phone calls will play more important roles in our daily communication.B: we can call others at any time . Phone can make the distance of hearts closer no matter how far the two people are separated from each other .A:I will call you next time . See you .B:see you .。
