“美国梦”起源于18 世纪70 年代，它影响着世世代代的美国人，在他们看来只要通过不断的努力就能获得更好的生活，这就意味着他们不需要社会阶级和他人的援助，只是一味通过勤奋、勇气以及决心去创造繁荣。
两百多年来“美国梦”一直是激励世界各地青年人来此实现自我价值的动力，尽管许多人认为“美国梦”过于重视物质财富对实现人生价值的影响，但美国人始终坚信获致成功的机会只存在于美国。
与其他国家相比美国公民对于经济拥有绝对的自由，政府对经济的干涉能力有限，较强的社会流动性使得他们坚信只要通过努力就能迈向成功，在这片土地上机会平等人人平等，成功与否就在于你是否具备抓住机会的能力。

“美国梦”带着人人平等和机会均等的信念，还带着对未来的乐观主义心态，宛如这部感人但没有悬念的电影。
尽管我们被电影中落魄父子的艰辛、窘迫而感伤，但是我们也很清楚主人公的人生困窘只是暂时的，我们还将期待着主人公命运发生转机。
所以，这是一部典型的“美国梦”题材电影。
总之，“美国梦”永不磨灭的根本原因在于这块自由的土地给予了民众可以造梦的可能。
一个人人向往的国度，着实让人着迷，健全的法制、自由的言论以及对于个人价值的尊重，自然而然地让这个国家的每一位个体都能够大胆地遵循着自己的梦想，并且义无反顾地为之前进。
而好莱坞电影会告诉每一个观众“只要有梦想，一切皆有可能”。
