一、中国梦这个词的翻译相对比较容易，因为我们只要参考一下“美国梦”的英文原文即可。
众所周知，“美国梦”是首现于1931 年的the American Dream 的字面直译。
因此，把“中国梦”译作“the Chinese Dream”应该是不错的选择。
不过，也有媒体在报道中国梦的时候使用了 the China Dream 一词。
例如，在《中国日报》 12 月 24 日刊载了一篇题为“The China dream and peaceful development”（即中国梦与和平发展）的报道中，虽然新闻标题中使用了the China dream，但正文中多次出现的却是the Chinese Dream。
其实，早在2002 年3 月9 日的英国《观察家报》上，the China Dream 就曾出现过，但当时它是乔•斯塔威尔所著一本书的书名。
后来到了2012 年 6 月 13 日， the China Dream开始出现在《卫报》上，但它也只不过特指非赢利组织聚思（JUCCCE）所提倡的一种塑造时尚与可持续发展并行的生活模式。
“十八大”后随着“中国梦”作为政治构想的提出，这个词语已经附有一丝专有名词的意味，因此要用“China Dream”来与之对应也未尝不可。
二、光盘汉语中早已有了作为术语的“光盘”一词，因此这个流行语可以算是旧词新义。
此前已在媒体上看到过诸如“empty dish”、“clean your plate”等翻译，但总觉得它们都不太地道。
若将它译作“Finishing your plate”campaign 或 movement 应该更为合适。
