对于本单元的课题“Going to school”是学生们熟悉而陌生的一个话题。
熟悉是因为“去学校”是学生们每天都要亲身经历的，他们乐于参与话题的讨论。
陌生是因为学生们现有词汇和句型有限，对于不同出行方式的存在输出困难。
但是，他们可以通过老师创设的有意义的问题和讨论对故事的发展进行合理的想象、猜测及表达。
这些潜在语言知识与技能的积累为本单元的学习做好了铺垫。
二、教材分析:本模块主题为Getting to know each other，此话题源于学生的生活，与学生的日常生活关系紧密。
在本课Unit 2 Going to school中,主要内容是用How do/does…come/go to school? 来询问他人上学的交通方式。
因此，让学生充分掌握上学交通方式的询问与表达,是本单元教学的重难点；让学生了解其他国家学生和其他角色的交通方式，对比自己上学的便利，感恩生活的馈赠是本单元的情感升华。
为此，在学习过程中，不仅要注意新旧知识的有机整合，对核心语言进行螺旋式升华，还应帮助学生进行听、说、读、写、练、用等综合技能的训练与培养，从而真正完成本单元的学习目标。
三、单元整体设计思路和依据:根据《英语新课程标准》的要求、本单元的主要教学内容和目标、以及五年级学生的身心发展特点，围绕本课话题，我们将以培养学生的听说读能力为前提的情况下，发展学生写的能力，并以发展学生的语言能力和创造性思维为最终目标。
