Students could receive a better, more efficient education if they spend 11 months a year studying.As a high school student, frequent sleep deprivation is a common problem. Teachers often try to cram the overloaded amount of class material into a limited amount of time. Every year, there are so many topics that teachers need to cover and students receive far too much stress from it. If the school year is extended, then the teacher does not have to push through all the materials and students can have more time absorbing the knowledge. Students could receive a better and more efficient education if they spend 11 months a year studying because they can sleep more to stay healthy and also have more time to digest each lesson.One can argue that having a shorter semester can allow students to get a longer break. Students can spend more time having fun and relaxing. They can visit interesting cities or spend the time to bond with friends. However, after coming back from a long break, students can find it hard to adjust to a rigorous school life. They might have difficulties staying focus in school. Furthermore, after a long period of fun, students might have forgotten previous course material, and teacher have to waste time to do a review session to refresh the s tudents’ memories. Therefore, good students should be able to attend academic events instead since they can form relationships with their peers too while learning new things. When one considers which university to apply to, an exciting research project is often much more persuasive than a great social gathering. Personally, I would love to be given an opportunity to participate in discovering science and learn. I know that my friends would also die for a similar chance that fits with their field of interest. When we researched about which college to apply to, we always look at which programs are available and if that interests us. Research programs form an important program in deciding whether the university is worth going to and indicates its education quality. In addition to research programs, having great resources is also an indication of great education. People come to universities hoping to learn; therefore guaranteeing high quality of education will definitely appeal to good students. Libraries are needed to provide resources and to help the students learn better. They allow student to find the materials needed for class projects and also to expand their knowledge on various areas during their free time. Furthermore, the school can fund laboratories to so that students can perform more experiments and explore science more. This can allow students to have hands-on experience with the concepts taught in science classes. Funding facilities should be a priority as opposed to funding social activities. One might think that social activities are helpful since they teach students important skills, like learning how to interact with others. However, during a research or finding information at a library, one must also interact with one’s peers and thus be able to work with others well. In addition, students are more interested in research and libraries because good students love to learn and explore the secrets in this universe. Funding these facilities is killing two birds with one stone. Therefore, funding social events is not needed to attract good student. On the other hand, offering excellent research programs and having a resourceful library are temptations a good student cannot resist. （527）。
