I love writing stories and expressing my thoughts, so I knew I had to participate. The contest was open to all students in grades 5 and 6, and the top three winners would receive amazing prizes – the first prize was a brand new tablet, the second prize was a set of books, and the third prize was a gift card to the bookstore. How cool is that?Ms. Roberts explained that the topic for the essay would be "My Dream Vacation." We had to write about our dream travel destination, describing the place, the activities we would do there, and why we wanted to go. The essays had to be between 300 and 500 words long.We had three weeks to work on our essays before the submission deadline. During that time, Ms. Roberts gave us some tips and guidance. She suggested making an outline first, then drafting the essay, revising it, and finally proofreading it carefully. She also reminded us to use descriptive language, proper grammar, and correct spelling.I decided to write about my dream vacation to Hawaii. I've always wanted to go there because of the beautiful beaches, lush forests, and amazing wildlife. I made an outline, listing the different sections of my essay: the introduction, describing the islands, the activities I would do like snorkeling and hiking, and the conclusion.Over the next few weeks, I worked hard on my essay during my free time. I wrote the first draft, then asked my parents and older sister to read it and give me feedback. They pointed outsome areas that needed improvement, so I revised my essay, making it more descriptive and fixing any errors. Finally, the submission deadline arrived, and I turned in my polished essay, feeling proud of my hard work. Waiting for the results was nerve-wracking, but I tried to stay positive.A week later, Ms. Roberts announced the winners during our English class. I was overjoyed when she called my name for the second-place prize! I had won a set of books, which made me incredibly happy since I love reading. The first-place winner was my friend Sarah, who had written a beautiful essay about her dream vacation to Italy. I was so happy for her, and the third-place winner, our classmate Michael. We all worked really hard on our essays. At the end of the class, Ms. Roberts congratulated all the participants for their efforts and encouraged us to keep writing and exploring our creativity. She said that writing is a valuable skill that will serve us well in the future.I learned so much from this experience – not just about writing, but also about perseverance, time management, and the joy of self-expression. I'm already looking forward to the next English essay writing competition!篇3An Exciting English Essay Competition for 5th and 6th Graders!Hi everyone! It's the perfect way to get practice and feedback on our writing from our teachers.Plus, it's going to be super fun coming up with our own creative essay topics and ideas. We can write about anything we're interested in or passionate about - our favorite book, a personal life experience, issues we care about, you name it! The possibilities are endless.I'm already brainstorming some ideas for my essay. Maybe I'll write about my dream career as a famous artist and sculptor. Or perhaps I'll pen an essay about the importance of protecting the environment and endangered species. I could also write a funny narrative story about one of my most embarrassing moments! Decisions, decisions...But writing the essay is only half the fun. Imagine how exciting it will be to hear the winning essays read aloud at the awards ceremony at the end! I can't wait to hear the creative ideas my classmates come up with. Having our hard workcelebrated in front of the whole school will make us feel like real authors. How to EnterEntering the competition is super easy. We just need to submit our essays to our English teacher by the deadline, which is January 31st. Don't leave it to the last minute though! This essay writing competition is an opportunity you won't want to miss. Let's make our teachers proud!篇4An English Essay Writing Contest for 5th and 6th GradersHey everyone! My name is Emily and I'm a 6th grader at Oakwood Elementary School. I have a really cool idea that I think a lot of us students would enjoy. What if our school held an English essay writing contest for 5th and 6th graders? It would be so much fun!For those of you who love writing stories, poems, or just expressing your thoughts and ideas through words, this could be an awesome opportunity. Even if writing isn't your favorite thing, it's a great way to practice your English skills in a creative way. The teachers are always telling us how important it is to be able to write clearly and communicate well. This contest would let us show off those skills! Here's what I'm picturing for the contest rules and setup:TopicsWe could have a few different essay topics to choose from so everyone can pick one they're interested in and excited to write about. Some ideas could be:• Describe your favorite book or movie character and why you admire them• What do you want to be when you grow u p and why?• Discuss an important issue facing kids today (bullying, environment, etc)• My biggest dream or life goal• A funny or meaningful personal experienceThe topics could cover different genres like creative fiction, opinion/persuasive, or personal narrative. That way there's something for everyone's writing style and interests.Age GroupsTo make it fair, we should have two different age groups - one for 5th graders and one for 6th graders. We're at such different skill levels in writing, so splitting it up by grade would let people compete against kids at a similar level.Word CountFor 5th graders, maybe the essays could be 300-500 words. That's a decent length to develop your ideas without being too long. For 6th graders, we could do 500-700 words to make it a bit more challenging.JudgingThis is where teachers and parents could get involved. We'd need a panel of judges (maybe 5-6 people) to read all the entries and score them on criteria like:• Crea tivity and originality of ideas• Clear and engaging writing style• Following the structure of a proper essay• Grammar, spelling, and mechanics• Sticking to the assigned topicThe judges could be a mix of English/Writing teachers, the school principal or librarian, and even some parents who volunteer.Prizes1st Place - 25 gift card, English essay contest winner medal, your essay published in the school newsletter2nd Place - 15 gift card, certificate3rd Place - 10 gift card, certificateEven getting your essay included in a book collection of all the great entries would be really cool!ScheduleTo give everyone enough time to think and write, we'd probably need about a month for the whole contest timeline:Week 1: Announce contest rules/topics, students enterWeek 2: Students work on drafting essaysWeek 3: Essay submissions due, judges begin readingWeek 4: Judges deliberate, winners announced at school assemblyIt would be so exciting to find out the winners at anall-school assembly where they could read their essays out loud.FundraisingSince we'd need funding for things like prizes, printing costs for winners, etc., we could do some fun fundraising activities leading up to the contest. We could sell:• Baked goods like cookies, brownies, etc at the school book fair• Pens/pencils with inspirational writing quotes• Temporary tattoos with book/reading themed designs• Bottles of "Wri tingFuel" (i.e. juice or hot chocolate)I'm sure there are tons of other cool fundraising ideas we could come up with too. Getting the whole school involved and excited about it would be half the fun!Overall, an English essay writing contest would be an awesome way to celebrate students' creativity, writing talents, and hard work. We'd get practice for an important life skill while having a chance to win fun prizes and get recognized for our efforts. Our writing could actually get published and read by others which is such a cool idea.I've talked to some of my friends about this idea already and they seemed really excited about it too. We'd love to get other students', teachers' and parents' thoughts as well. With a lot of participation and school spirit, I think this could become an annual 5th/6th grade tradition that everyone looks forward to! Let me know if you have any other ideas to make it even better. Thanks for reading my proposal! I'll be collecting any feedback or suggestions, so feel free to send them my way. Hopefully we can get planning and make this essay contest happen soon!篇5An Exciting English Essay Writing Contest for 5th and 6th Graders!Hi everyone!
