In Devon at the outbreak of World War I, Joey, is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France. He serves in the British and German armies, which takes him on an extraordinary odyssey, serving on both sides before being alone in No Man's Land. But Albert cannot forget Joey, and, still not old enough to enlist in the army, he embarks on a dangerous mission to find and bring Joey home.
So Albert started to train him. Because he treat him as his best friend and put all his time and heart on him ,finally little horse was moved by Albert and ploughed the land successfully. At last they built a very close and intimate relationship between each other and the boy give the horse a name :Joey

And it is characterized by its pastoral scene in wasteland , changeable sky ,wide and grassy fields and endless rugged nature , which attracts audience including me and the director a lot.

最棒的是那个德军对身后的战友们喊了一句，“我还需要一把剪刀”。
然后战壕后立刻扔出了五六把来，落在水坑里，让人忍俊不禁，又感动不已。
其实在斯皮尔伯格的电影《战马》的初始场景中并没有战火，而是着力表现了20世纪早期英国农村生活的那种伤感情调。
德文郡一位喝醉了的农夫在拍卖会上高价买回了一匹精装的纯种骏马，他的儿子艾伯特为它起名乔伊，并训练它犁地。
在满是青翠泥土、花昵衣服的氛围中，电影其实还有一点偏娱乐化的风格。

乔伊被“征召”入伍，横穿英吉利海峡、佛兰德斯和法国，在英德双方的军队中，经历噩梦。
影片后半部分基本上回归斯皮尔伯格最擅长的战争戏。
跟老斯之前获奖的名片《辛德勒的名单》、《拯救大兵雷恩》相比，虽然《战马》也是通过战争来体现人文关怀的，但表现手法却又很大差别。
前两者用近乎白描的手法冷酷地讲述着残酷的故事，而《战马》一片却多了几分华丽的修饰，在“战争”这筒油漆中添加了很多稀释剂，这稀释剂的名字叫做“温情”。

【幕后花絮】影片拍摄前留给剧组驯练马匹的时间只有三个月，在片中共有14匹不同的马扮演了主角乔伊，8只成年4只幼年，而另有4匹马扮演了Topthorn（片中另一匹战马的名字）；其中在一场戏里最多出现了280匹马，影片拍摄由美国人权协会（American Humane Society）代表芭芭拉·卡尔（Barbara Carr）全程监督。
《战马》全片采用实景拍摄，唯一用到特效的只有为了保护马匹安全的3个镜头，持续时间也仅仅数秒。

In the army, Joey became the mount of the captain because it wanately, Joey was poisoned by the Germany because of the failure of the battle. For further fighting ,Joey was left .and saved by a girl, named Emily, whose parents both died of the war and she lived with her grandfather. To our anxious, Joey was robbed by the soldiers! So smart, it hurried instead its patterner to pull the heavy goods. At the same time, Albia has been a solider and he broke the enemy ‘s bunker with great fear. Joey rid the bound, ran and jumped in the battlefield in the flames of war. It‘ was an excited point .Unfortunately, it was trapped by barbed wire.
Finally, the smart guy realized what Albia wanted to do, and ploughed a piece of land with full of stone in the heavy rain. It’s one of the points moved me deeply. Also ,its unbelievable potential showed out for the first time.

For repaying the debt, Ted worked so hard. Hard work pays off. Sweat in exchange for harvesting.But,a heavy rain destroyed all ! At the same time ,the Germany came. Ted sell Joey to the cavalry battalion. Albia tried to leave the horse ,but it’s useless. He said goodbye to his good friend sadly. From then on, Joey started its army life .
So after kinds of difficulties, the friends united again. The war ended, but the friendship between them never say goodbye.
Film review
The wonderful director showed the war with a new perspective. By telling the story of Joey and Albia, he let we see the strength of the friendship. No large investment, no luxury portfolio, only by its plots highlights the main point, war can destroyed the house ,but it can never threat the human nature, which raised our food for thought and moved us a lot. --- Our group

In 1914,a boy in Devon ,named Albie ,watched the birth of a horse, which named Joey later .Then the horse was auctioned at the county fair. To our surprise ,it was got by Ted, the boy’s father ,who gave 30 gins, a high price. He offended the landlord because of the auction. So, Albia can play happily with Joey during the happy days. But happy time did not last long. The landlord came and said if Joey can’t plough the land ,he would take it away. So, Ted had to debt all their belongings. From then on ,Albia had to force the horse the work, even leather whip is used.

To save the horse, both decided to stop the battle. Every side came a solider to demolish the wire. We can see the human nature from that. Then Joey was taken to Albie’s side. The friends had a meet then, though Albie ’s eyes were in matter, he told it! But Joey faced its second auction. Though both soldiers and uppers raised money for him to get Joey back, it was got by an old man, the girl's grandfather. When he finally know what the horse meant to the man, he decided to give the horse to Albie then.
As we all know, animals like dogs can be good friends of human. Emotion between animal and us is very wonderful. When the friendship between them is on the screen, we are more easily to be moved. Here are some examples. Do you know them ?
