A:hello,everyone,today we invite 5 architects from SEU.Please give them a warm welcome.As is known to all,the appliance of the glass curtain wall has aroused many security problems,such as the risk of falling,the fire problem,the light pollution and so on.confronted with these problems,it's our duty to do something to improve the situation.So the theme of today's seminar is, what should wedo,in our design process, to make sure the security of the glass curtain wall.B：Yes, as architects, there is much we have to do during our design.According to the Oriental morning post, since the financial center was located in the era of the lujiazui, there already had been about 115 pieces of glass curtain wall exploding.A：to avoid pedestrians from being hurt by falling glass. What should we pay attention to when we apply glass curtain wall to our design?F：let's take Japan for example, the building adopting glass curtain wall should be set annex and green belts around it. so even if the glass fell off the buiding,it would land on the annex or the green belt rather than hit the sidewalk directly . but it's a pity that most of the tall buidings in our country don't set these security measures. Mayby we can use these way to make sure the security of our design in the future.C：I'm sorry for my interruption,but could you please explain what the annex is ?F：it's an addition or extension of a building。

A：thankyou for your introduction ,maybe learn from the advanced cases abroad is a good way to improve our design.And are there any other ways to avoid this kind of accident?B：According to my investigation, the choices of glass are of great significance.Now, the glass used in the curtain wall is mainly the Toughened glass. However, a composition of this glass, the nickel sulfide, expands when it is heated. So this makes the explosion of this glass inevitable. That’s why we often name the glass explosion as the cancer of glass curtain wall. In order to lessen the impact of this chemical, we should choose the glass which contains less nickel sulfide.Apart from this, we should choose the toughened glass which has been reheated. It can also reduce the content of nickel sulfide, and reduce the self-explosion of curtain wall.C：Maybe architects can also choose pairglass during the design of curtain wall. Compared to toughened glass, pairglass is much safer. Even it explodes, the glass pieces can still maintain theslice as a whole, thus, the pedestrian won’t be hurt.B：Yes, pairglass is another good choice. But, when you apply the pairglass to your design, you Must set aside toughened glass of the rescue mouth and escape mouth, and mark it clearly. Cause once the fire takes place, the firefighters can't enter to rescue them,and also can't help indoor personnel escape, then new security hidden danger occurs.E:as far as I'm concerned, glass curtain wall can be very dangerous when it comes to fire. Because glass is very easy to break, which causes a lot of air crowded in the building and result in explosion.A：as for the fire，we've also heard that some tragedies caused by the design failure. Could you please deliver some design point to us ?E：sure, the building with glass curtain wall outside shouldn't designed as a whole.instead,we must set fire belt in the junction of the floors and walls.D：What you 've just said remind me of the CCTVA：that accident alerts us that no matter how outstanding an architect is, the details should never be neglected. now could anyone show us something about the frame design of the glass curtain wall?D：as we know , there are three kinds of glass curtain wall frame applied in current architecture. They are metal-bearing structure,full-glass structure and straining beam structure,of which the last one is the most safe .So we should choose the right frame when we design the structure of the building.A：Thank you .Just now we have discussed some effective ways to prevent the glass from exploding and hurting people. And apart from this ,the glare caused by the glass curtain wall endangers the safety of the drivers on the road. So we must be pay attention to the reflectivity when we choose the sort of the glass.E：to avoid the glare reflected by the glass causing traffic accidents, the reflectivity of the glass curtain wall should not be over 30%,while the one of the glass curtain wall that set on the buildings near the urban trunk and overpass should not be over 16%.A：It's so critical that we should never disobey the design regulation. And as for the cleaning problem,do you have any good solution?B：Auto-cleaning glass is a newly invited material. There is a TiO2 layer on its surface, which can oxidize the organic pollutants when exposed in the sun. The auto-cleaning function of the new glass can displace the "Spiderman" to avoid some accidents. although this kind of glass haven't been applied widely, its good prospect is undoubtedlyC：that sounds a very radical way .we all hope that the day will come soon. Besides, the communication between us architects and the other parts of the construction chain is very important.B：can you state it in detail?C：of course. For example, when we communicate with owners, we should emphasize the importance of the security problems, so as to arouse the awareness of the owners. By which way, some security problems occurred in the installation would be carefully treated.B：yes, thanks for you explanation. it is obvious that the communication is necessary.A:quite right. Today we have shared some approaches to make sure the security of the glass curtain wall in several design aspects, including the material of the glass,the glass curtain wall design regulation,the humanistic design in some buidings ,the frame design of the glass curtain wall,and the communication during the construction.in short,we must keep these two points in our mind. the first one ,we should always put the security element to the first place during our design process.and the second one ,never disobey the first one.。
