B(2018山东德州高三模拟检测题)A parent might place his daughter’s drawing on the fridge out of a love forhis child rather than for the wonderful image, but for many people, that children art is actually quite amazing. In fact, adult artists were often inspired by children’s drawing. For the museum-goers out there who tend to point to a piece of modern art and say,“My kid could have made that!”It’s worth remembering that often, that’s actually just what the artist had in mind. For many kids, drawing is exciting not because of the final product it leads to,but because they can live completely in the world of their drawing for a few minutes.Even children are scribbling(涂鸦),they’re representing through action, not through pictures.Liane Alves,a prekindergarten teacher, recalled a student who presented her with a drawing featuring a single straight line across the page.Alves assumed the child hadn’t given too much thought to the drawing until he explained that the line was one of the stems (茎) from The Princess and the Pea,one of the fairy tales they read in class.Maureen Ingram, who’s a preschool teacher at the same school, said her students often tell different stories about a given piece of art depending on the day, perhaps because they weren’t sure what they intended to draw when they started the picture.“We as adults will often say,‘I’m going to draw a horse,’and we set out...and get frustrated when we can’t do it,”Ingram said.“Children seem to take a different approach, where they just draw, and then they realize,‘it is a horse.’”And what about those odd or scary-looking drawings? Does that mean kids are telling themselves stories that are odd or scary? It’s hard to say,but it’s rarely a good idea to over-interpret it.Ellen Winner,a psychology professor, pointed to parents who worry when their kid draws a child bigger than the adults. What’s most important to remember is that “children’s art has its own logic,” Winner said.“Children are not being crazy.”4.What may the author agree most probably according to the first paragraph?A.Children are more skilled and creative than adults in art.B.There might be similar patterns in artists’ and kids’ drawings.C.No one knows what the drawing experience means to children.D.Parents should become drawing teachers of their children.5.The author gives the example of Liane’s student to prove that .A.simple scribbles from children are meaningfulB.not all the children like drawing in the classroomC.children’s drawing is too complicated to understandD.teachers often find it hard to teach children drawing6.What is most important for children while they are drawing?A.The best image.B.Drawing process.C.A copy of real things.D.The ending of story.7.What should parents do if their children draw things odd or scary?A.Ask teachers to show the children how to draw.B.Help the children to draw the picture again.C.Invite other children to have a discussion about the drawing.D.Take it easy and listen to the story behind the picture.语篇解读:孩子们画画有自己的逻辑和意义,父母应该正确对待孩子画画和他们的作品。

Unit 1 Women of achievementⅠ阅读理解AJoseph Goldberger was a doctor for the United States Public Health Service and he was an advocate for scientific and social recognition of the links between poverty and disease. In 1914, Goldberger was asked by U.S. Surgeon General Rupert Blue to study a skin disease that was killing thousands of people in the South. The disease was pellagra(糙皮病).Goldberger traveled to the state of Mississippi where many people suffered from pellagra. He studied the victims and their families. Most of the people lived a hard life. The doctor came to believe that the disease didn’t pass on from one to another, but was instead related to food. He received permission from the state governor to test this idea at a prison. Prisoners were offered pardons if they took part. One group of prisoners received their usual foods, mostly corn products. A second group ate meat, fresh vegetables and drank milk. Members of the first group developed pellagra. The second group did not.But some medical researchers refused to accept Goldberger’s idea. For the South, pellagra was more than simply a medical problem. There were other things, including Southern pride. So Goldberger had himself injected(注射) with blood from a person with pellagra. He also took liquid from the nose and throat of a pellagra patient and put them into his own nose and throat. He even swallowed pills that contained skin from pellagra patients. An assistant also took part in the experiments. So did Goldberger’s wife. N one of them got sick.Joseph Goldberger died of cancer in 1929. He was fiftyfive years old. Several years later, researchers discovered the exact cause of pellagra:a lack of vitamin B3 known as niacin.【解题导语】本文是一篇记叙文。

阅读理解(2019北京西城一模)Like many other people who speak more than one language, I often have the sense that I'm a slightly different person in each of my languages--more confident in English, more relaxed in French, more emotional in Czech. Is it possible that, along with these differences, my moral compass (指南针) also points in somewhat different directions depending on the language I'm using at the time?Psychologists who study moral judgments have become very interested in this question. The findings of several recent studies suggest that when people are faced with moral dilemmas (困境), they do indeed respond differently when considering them in a foreign language than when using their native tongue. In a 2014 paper led by Albert Costa, volunteers were presented with a moral dilemma known as the "trolley problem" : imagine that a runaway trolley is moving quickly toward a group of five people standing on the tracks, unable to move. You are next to a switch that can move the trolley to a different set of tracks, therefore sparing the five people, but resulting in the death of one who is standing on the side tracks. Do you pull the switch? Most people agree that they would. But what if the only way to stop the trolley is by pushing a large stranger off a footbridge into its path? People tend to be very hesitant to say they would do this, even though in both situations, one person is sacrificed to save five. But Costa and his colleagues found that presenting the dilemma in a language that volunteers had learned as a foreign tongue dramatically increased their stated willingness to push the sacrificial person off the footbridge, from fewer than 20% of respondents working in their native language to about 50% of those using the foreign one.Why does it matter whether we judge morality in our native language or a foreign one? According to one explanation, such judgments involve two separate and competing ways of thinking--one of these, a quick, natural "feeling," and the other, careful deliberation about the greatest good for the greatest number. When we use a foreign language, we unconsciously sinkinto the more careful way simply because the effort of operating in our non-native language signals our cognitive (认知的) system to prepare for difficult activity. An alternative explanation is that differences arise between native and foreign tongues because our childhood languages are filled with greater emotions than are those learned in more academic settings. As a result, moral judgments made in a foreign language are less filled with the emotional reactions that surface when we use a language learned in childhood. There's strong evidence that memory connects a language with the experiences and interactions through which that language was learned. For example, people who are bilingual (双语的) are more likely to recall an experience if reminded in the language in which that event occurred. Our childhood languages, learned in the middle of passionate emotion, become filled with deep feeling. By comparison, languages acquired late in life, especially if they are learned through limited interactions in the classroom or dully delivered over computer screens and headphones, enter our minds lacking the emotionality that is present for their native speakers.1. What does "this question" in Paragraph 2 refer to?A. What contributes to one's language improvements?B. Is it necessary to learn more than one foreign language?C. Does the language one uses influence one's moral judgments?D. How do people deal with moral dilemmas in a foreign language?2. When the "trolley problem" was presented in a foreign language, volunteers were more likely to _________.A. care less about the five peopleB. pull the switch to the side tracksC. remain hesitant about what to doD. sacrifice the stranger on the footbridge3. The underlined word in Paragraph 5 is closest in meaning to _________.A. considerationB. guidanceC. selectionD. arrangement4. What can we learn from the last two paragraphs?A. Bilingual people are less emotional than others.B. Native language learning involves greater emotions.C. Childhood memories limit foreign language learning.D. Academic settings promote foreign language learning.Ⅱ.七选五Nowadays,the problem of generation gap becomes more and more serious.Based on the survey by our school, the poor relationship between parents and their children is very common.1. Or,do the strict family rules affect their relationship?Firstly,in most of the families in the US,both of the parents have to go out for work in order to earn more money to provide better environment for their lovely children.Unfortunately, this causes the rare communication between them and their children, since these parents always take a rest during leisure time. These parents and children cannot know deeply about each other. Then friction(摩擦) is easy to appear.2.Secondly,parents who ask their children to be absolutely obedient to them are also one of the grave causes of generation gap between them. Therefore, these children are not willing to communicate with their parents and most of these parents are not active to talk with their children.3.To solve these problems, the busy parents should devote their spare time to communicating with their children actively so as to improve their relationship. At the same time, they can also observe their children’s behavior in order to understand their children’s personality and reduce the quarrel between them.4.No doubt that can give a better image to their children since it can make their children feel free to chat with their parents. Then it is easy for the parents to approach their lovely children. Therefore,a close and harmonious relationship between parents and children appears. In conclusion,to have a close relationship between parents and children, the parents should devote their leisure time to talking with their children and observing their children’s personality and give their children the approaching images.5.A.Therefore,a wide generation gap comes into being.B.Thus,misunderstanding between them often occurs.C.Are these problems caused by the busy parents?D.Who are these problems more upsetting to?E.If so,this terrible phenomenon, generation gap, cannot occur any more.F.In fact most parents and children experience at least a little tension.G.Besides that, the parents should try to give up their absolute power in family.Ⅲ.应用文写作(2019·浙江)假定你是李华,经常帮助你学习英语的朋友Alex即将返回自己的国家。
