Using unless
unless意思是“如果不，除非”，相当于if ... not ...。if ... not ... 是口语，unless是书面语。 unless引导的从句放在主句之前时，要用逗号 和主句隔开。如:
One can’t learn a foreign language well unless he studies hard. 不下苦功夫是学不好外语的。 I will not go unless I hear from him. 如果我不收到他的来信，我就不去。
Using so ... that
so ... that表示“如此……以至于……”，常 用于引导结果状语从句。常见结构为“so + 形容词/副词+ that从句”或“so +形容词+ a / an +单数名词+ that从句”。如: He was so excited that he couldn’t say a word. It is so interesting a book that many people want to buy it.

另外，so ... that ...句型也可转换为 (not) ... Enough to或too ... to ...结构。如： Uncle Wu is so rich that he can buy a car. = Uncle Wu is rich enough to buy a car. 吴叔叔很富有，能买得起小汽车。 He got up so late that he couldn’t catch the early bus. = He got up too late to catch the early bus. 他起得太晚了，没能赶上早班车。
