本教材中的Story time是紧密结合各单元的主题而编写的卡通故事，它体现了新课程贴近学生日常生活、不断激发学生兴趣、培养学生文化意识等理念，具有丰富的教学价值。
在教学中让学生通过“看—理解”，“听—感知”，“跟读—模仿”，“小组合作—表演”的形式学习该故事，充分激发了学生的阅读兴趣，巩固了单元知识，培养了文化意识，拓宽了学生视野，为以后的阅读教学打下基础。
