英语作文和朋友的相同点和不同点

英语作文和朋友的相同点和不同点My Friends and MeFriends are really important to me. I have a few really good friends that I spend a lot of time with. Even though we are friends, we aren't exactly the same though. We have some things that make us similar, but we also have a bunch of differences too. Let me tell you about a few of my closest friends and how we are alike and different. My best friend is Tommy. He lives just down the street from me, which is really convenient. We've known each other since we were babies because our moms are best friends too. Tommy and I like a lot of the same things, which is probably why we get along so well. We both really like sports, especially basketball and football. During recess, we always choose each other first for our teams. Tommy is really good at dribbling the basketball. I'm not as good as him at that, but I can shoot better.Another thing Tommy and I have in common is that we both want to be professional athletes when we grow up. He wants to play in the NBA and I want to play pro football. We even both like the same basketball team - the Chicago Bulls. Whenever they have a game on TV, we beg our parents to let us watch it. Weknow all the players' names and numbers. Our favorite is Zach Lavine because he can jump super high.Even though Tommy and I have a lot in common, we're different in some ways too. He is more of a morning person than I am. He wakes up pretty early and is always full of energy in the morning. I'm the opposite - I hate mornings! I'm definitely more of a night owl. I stay up way later than Tommy does at night. Another difference is that Tommy is a picky eater, while I'll eat pretty much anything. He doesn't like any vegetables at all! I'll eat veggies though, as long as they have ranch dressing on them.Anna is another one of my closest friends. She lives a couple blocks away from me and Tommy. Anna and I became friends in 1st grade when she moved to our town. We hit it off right away because we have some of the same interests and personalities. Like me, Anna really loves art class. We are always excited for the art projects we get to do. Anna is an amazing artist - she's so creative and good at drawing and painting. I'm not quite as talented, but I still enjoy it a lot.Another way that Anna and I are alike is that we are both really talkative. We can chat for hours about anything and everything. Sometimes our parents have to tell us to be quietbecause we get so loud when we're together! We also have the same taste in TV shows and movies. Our favorite show is the animated one called The Owl House. We know every single episode by heart. Whenever there's a new episode, we get so excited to watch it together. We even have Owl House t-shirts to match!Despite having a lot of similarities, Anna and I are different in some key ways too. Anna is a total bookworm - she loves reading more than anything. She finishes entire novels in just a couple days. I'm just not that into reading. I'll read if I have to for school, but I definitely prefer watching shows and movies. Anna also gets way better grades than me in every subject, especially math. No matter how hard I try, math is just my worst subject. Anna is a math whiz though. I'm always asking her for help with my math homework. The last friend I'll tell you about is Daniel. He actually just moved to my town at the beginning of this school year. Even though we haven't been friends for that long, we clicked really quickly. I think one of the main reasons is that Daniel and I have such similar senses of humor and personalities. We are both considered the "class clowns" because we are always joking around and making people laugh. We can riff off each other'sjokes for a long time. Sometimes we get in trouble with our teachers for goofing off too much!Another big similarity Daniel and I have is that we both love video games. We'll come over to each other's houses all the time and play video games for hours. Our favorite games are the Super Smash Bros. series. We have intense battles to see who can beat who. We're pretty evenly matched though - we'll win some and lose some. Daniel is a little better at shooter games than me though. While Daniel and I have a lot of shared interests and humor, we differ in a couple key areas. He is crazy about science and loves doing experiments. I've never really been that interested in science - I find it kind of boring honestly. Also, Daniel plays on the school baseball team and is a great athlete. I'm just terrible at baseball and most sports in general. I've got no hand-eye coordination whatsoever! So those are some of my closest friends and the ways we are alike and different. Even though we share a lot of interests and personalities, we each have our own unique traits too. That's what makes our friendships fun and interesting though! We can bond over the similarities but also expose each other to newthings with our differences. I'm just glad I have such great friends to spend time with.。

关于友谊的雅思口语

关于友谊的雅思口语

关于友谊的雅思口语朋友一生一起走,谁都有三五知己,下面是雅思口语描述自己友谊的方法,跟小编一起来了解下吧:。

雅思口语描述自己朋友1. Do you think friends are important?解题思路:朋友这个大话题的论述在人物题的话题卡中出现频率也是不低的,所以第三部分中对于朋友相关的问题也是比较普遍的。

对于这道题的回答是朋友当然非常重要。

没有朋友大多数时间(much of the time )我们都会很孤独,虽然有的时候一个人也是很自在的(it’s nice to be left alone),这里对于nice 替换可以有brilliant, fantastic等一类的词语。

但是无人交谈(have no one to talk to)也是很可怕的。

有了朋友我们可以有相同的爱好(similar interests),聊聊我们的人生,分享自己的经历(share experiences)。

朋友应该是被紧紧抓住的(Friends should be held close),因为他们是我们能拥有的最有价值的东西(the most valuable things)。

Of course friends are important! Without friends we would be lonely much of the time, and although sometimes it’s nice to be left alone, it would be horrible to have no one to talk to. With friends we can enjoy similar interests, talk about our lives and share experiences. Friends should be held close, because they’re some of the most valuable things we can have. A true friend will always be there for you when you need them most. Astrong group of friends is as good as, if not better than, a family.2. Do you prefer to have one or two close friends or a wide circle of friends?解题思路:这道题虽然是第三部分的题目,但是问的个人的观点,所以可以表明个人的观点及态度。

有关朋友重要性的英语作文有分论点

有关朋友重要性的英语作文有分论点全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1The Importance of Having Good FriendsFriends are very important to me. I think everyone needs friends, no matter how old you are. Friends make life much more fun and interesting. Without friends, I would be very lonely. The first reason why friends are so important is that they give you company. Friends are people you can hang out and play with. If I didn't have any friends, I would have no one to talk to besides my parents and teachers. That would be really boring! With friends, you always have people to laugh and joke around with. You can play fun games and sports together. You can work on projects as a team. Friends make life way more enjoyable.Another key reason friends matter is they allow you to share your feelings. If something is bothering me or I'm upset about something, I can tell my friends how I feel. They will listen and try to understand me. I can ask my friends for advice when I have a problem. With a friend, you know there is always someone you can open up to. Keeping everything bottled up inside is nothealthy. It's good to have friends you can express yourself to freely. Friends can also cheer you up when you are feeling sad or angry. Overall, being able to share your emotions with friends is extremely valuable. In addition, friends teach you important life lessons. By spending time with friends, you learn how to communicate better, cooperate with others, and resolve conflicts. You learn to take turns, share, and consider other people's perspectives. My friends and I don't always agree, but we work things out through compromise. We have discovered that keeping promises, being loyal, and forgiving mistakes helps a friendship stay strong. Friends also introduce you to new experiences and expand your view of the world. I have developed many essential social skills from having friends.Furthermore, friends provide support during tough times. When I struggled with a difficult class, my friends helped me study and get through it. When my grandfather passed away, my friends comforted me and showed they cared. Recently, my family went through a hard situation, and my friends and their families provided kind gestures like bringing meals that meant so much. With good friends beside you, the challenging periodsof life feel a little easier. Knowing your friends are there for you makes you stronger.Of course, friends also allow you to have a lot of fun adventures together! Some of my best memories are from hanging out with my friends - having sleepovers, going to amusement parks, exploring new places, and just laughing about silly things. When I'm with my friends, we always find ways to have a great time, even if we're just playing at the park. Adventures with friends are a thousand times more exciting and joyful than being alone. Friends make everything more thrilling! In the end, friends are utterly essential, at least in my opinion. They provide companionship, emotional support, life lessons, caring encouragement, and endless fun! My life would feel empty and gloomy without my wonderful friends by my side. While family is extremely important too, friends are simply irreplaceable. I feel very lucky to have such amazing friends, and I try to be a great friend in return. Having good friends makes childhood much more bright and cheerful. I hope we can be friends forever!篇2Friends Are ImportantHaving friends is super important for kids like me. Friends make life way more fun and exciting. They also help us learn stuff and become better people. I'm going to tell you all about why friends are so great! The first big reason friends matter is because they make us happy. Isn't it way more fun to play at recess with your buddies than to play all alone? When I'm hanging out with my friends, we're always laughing and having a blast. My friends Colin and Emma always crack me up with their funny jokes and silly games. Life would be so boring without them!Another awesome thing about friends is you never have to feel lonely. If you're sad or upset about something, real friends are there for you. They'll listen to your problems without judging you. They'll try to cheer you up by telling jokes or suggesting fun activities to do together. My friend Jayden always makes me feel better if I'm having a bad day just by being a good listener.Plus, friends can give you courage to try new things you might be nervous about otherwise. Like when we were learning to ride bikes, my friend Maya helped me practice until I stopped being so scared to leave the training wheels behind. Now bike riding is one of my favorite activities, and I wouldn't have stuck with it if Maya hadn't supported me as a friend.Speaking of learning new skills, friends can also help you academically. If you need someone to study with for a test or to help you understand homework, friends have your back. You can take turns teaching each other things you're confused about. My friend Aisha is a whiz at spelling, so she helps me practice my words. Then I assist her with math problems since that's my strong suit. That leads me to another point - we all have different talents and personalities. Having a variety of friends exposes you to new perspectives and experiences. For example, my friend Ethan's family is from India, so he teaches me about their traditions and cuisine. My friend Lila is really artistic, so she shows me how to paint and draw better. Friends encourage you to be moreopen-minded about the world!Of course, friends aren't just important at school and on the playground. They help shape who we become as people too. Your friends' good qualities can rub off on you if you spend enough time together. Like my friend Sam is one of the most generous people I know - he's always sharing his snacks and toys. Hanging around Sam has definitely made me more willing to share with others. At the same time, your example can influence your friends too. Have you ever noticed how friends often start dressing alike or using the same slang phrases? We pick up habits and speech patterns from each other. So by surrounding yourself with kind, hardworking friends, you'll be more likely to act that way yourself.Of course, being a good friend goes both ways. You shouldn't just take from your friends without giving back. True friendship means standing by each other through good times and bad. Sticking up for your buddies when they're being bullied, forgiving them if they make a mistake, and encouraging them to do their best. Above all, a friend is someone you can count on.That's why it's so valuable to make and keep great friends as we're growing up. Our friends shape our characters and make our lives richer with fun and meaning. I know my best friends will always be a huge part of my life journey.I can hardly imagine what my childhood would be like with no one to play games with, confide my secrets in, or learn about the world together with. Friends help us grow from kids into mature, caring adults step by step. They're are one of the most important gifts we can have!So appreciate your friends, choose them carefully, and be the best friend you can be in return. Friendships can last forever if you nurture them the right way. Having a strong circle of friends is something every kid needs and deserves. I feel super lucky to have such amazing buddies in my life, and I hope you do too!篇3The Importance of Having Good FriendsDo you have a best friend? Someone you can laugh with, play with, and share your deepest thoughts and feelings with? Having good friends is one of the most important things in life, especially when you're a kid. Friends make life more fun, help you through tough times, and teach you all sorts of valuable lessons. Let me tell you why having great friends is so amazing!First of all, friends make everything more fun and enjoyable. Think about all the games, activities and adventures that are way better when you have friends to do them with. Playing tag, going to the park, telling jokes and stories - it's all much more amusing when you've got your buddies right there by your side. It's hard to have a really good time all by yourself. With friends, youalways have someone to giggle with, be silly with, and create fun memories that you'll never forget.Even more importantly, friends provide incredible support when you're feeling sad, angry, or any other tough emotion. When you're having a bad day, your friends are there to listen, give you a big hug, and cheer you up with kindness and humor. If you get in an argument with your parents or siblings, you can vent to your friends and they'll understand exactly how you feel. And if you're being bullied or treated unfairly, your true friends will firmly have your back and stick up for you. True friendship means you never have to face life's challenges alone.Additionally, friends teach you so many valuable lessons about how to be a good person. They show you how to be kind, patient, forgiving, and considerate of others' feelings. You learn to share, take turns, and compromise instead of always wanting your way. Friends encourage you to try new things instead of being afraid to step outside your comfort zone. And perhaps most importantly, they teach you how to be a caring, loyal friend in return. The quality of your friendships is a big part of what shapes your character.Of course, maintaining close friendships also comes with responsibilities. You have to put in effort to spend quality timetogether and nurture the relationship through good times and bad. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices or go out of your way to help a friend in need. And inevitably, you will have arguments, hurt feelings, or other conflicts that need to be resolved through communication, apologies and forgiveness. But the bonds of friendship are well worth working for! After all, where would we be without our friends to laugh with, lean on, and learn from?In conclusion, friends are absolutely essential, especially during childhood and the school-age years. They enhance our happiness and joy, provide invaluable emotional support, and help shape us into better people through learning about kindness, loyalty and other positive qualities. While maintaining good friendships requires effort and overcoming challenges, the rewards of nurturing these special relationships make it all worthwhile. So appreciate your friends, be a wonderful friend in return, and make having fun, caring friends a top priority! It will enrich your life immensely.篇4Friends Are The Best!Hi there! My name is Sam and I'm going to tell you all about why friends are so awesome and important. Having good friends is one of the best parts of being a kid!First off, friends make life way more fun. Think about it - what's more fun, playing video games all alone or playing with your buddy next to you? It's definitely way better with a friend there. My best friend Jake and I have the best time racing cars in our favorite racing games and cheering each other on. We also crack a lot of jokes and just laugh our heads off sometimes over nothing! Everything is just more enjoyable when you've got your pal by your side.Another reason friends are the best is because they are like a second family to you. You might fight with your siblings sometimes, but your friends are the brothers and sisters you actually get to choose. They are the ones who understand you the most and who you can count on, no matter what. Last year when my dog Rufus ran away, I was so upset. My friend Emily came right over to give me a big hug and we looked for Rufus together until we finally found him. A good friend is always there for you through the good times and the bad.Having friends also teaches you lots of important life lessons. Like how to compromise - if you and your friend both want toplay different games, you have to learn how to take turns. Or how to settle arguments - if you get in a fight with your friend, you have to learn forgiveness and how to make up. My friend Michael and I had a huge argument once over a soccer game we were playing. We were so mad at each other that we didn't talk for weeks! But finally we both said sorry and we're still best buds now. Friendship helps you learn about give and take.Another really cool thing about friends is that they expose you to new interests and broaden your world. My friend Maria got me interested in arts and crafts, which is now one of my favorite hobbies. I got her interested in hiking and camping with my family. Having friends from different backgrounds lets you experience new cultures, try new foods, and see things in a whole new way. The world would be so boring if we were all exactly the same! Friends help you grow.Of course, friends aren't just important for fun times either. When you're feeling sad, lonely, or are going through a hard time, a good friend can really help. Last year, my parents got divorced which was really tough on me. I felt like my whole world was falling apart. But my friends were there for me every day, cheering me up, hanging out with me after school, and just listening when I needed to talk. I don't think I could have made itthrough that time without their love and support surrounding me. True friends are kind, caring, and want the best for you.Looking back on my childhood so far, some of my very best memories are the simple times I spent with my friends. Something as basic as riding bikes around the neighborhood, having a lemonade stand, or going to get ice cream after school. Those are the kind of everyday moments that seem so ordinary, but you'll remember and cherish forever, all because you had your friends by your side. The bonds and inside jokes we share bring so much happiness and laughter into each day.So as you can see, friends are pretty much the most important thing ever when you're a kid (and when you're an adult too!). They make life more fun, teach you lessons, expand your horizons, support you emotionally, and create lifelong memories. Having just one or two great friends is all you need to feel happy, healthy, and that you truly belong somewhere. My advice? Appreciate the friends you've got, make plenty of new ones along the way, and never take them for granted. Because at the end of the day, your friends are what make the journey of growing up so incredibly awesome!篇5The Awesome Importance of Having Good FriendsHi! My name is Jamie and I'm going to tell you all about why it's so great to have good friends. Friends are just the best, aren't they? I'll share some of the main reasons why I think friends are super important.First off, friends make you happier! Having a few best buds that you can laugh and play with is so much fun. My friends Alice, Jake, and Emma always crack me up with their silly jokes and games. When we're together, I can't stop giggling! Friends make the boring times fun and the fun times even funnier. Plus, if you're ever feeling sad or worried about something, a good friend can cheer you up and make you feel better. They give you big hugs, listen to what's bothering you, and remind you how awesome you are. With true friends by your side, you'll always have a reason to smile.Another key reason why friends matter is that they encourage you to try new things. I used to be nervous about joining the school play because I was afraid I might mess up. But my friends Emma and Alice were doing it too, so they gave me the courage to sign up. And you know what? I ended up having a blast being a bumbling knight! I never would have discovered how much I love acting if my friends hadn't supported me.Friends can inspire you to step out of your comfort zone, which helps you grow as a person. If you see your buddies taking an art class, joining a sports team, or anything else, it motivates you to be brave and give it a shot too!Having friends also teaches you super important life lessons. Like how to be a good listener when someone needs to talk things out. Or how to share your toys and snacks fairly. Or how to compromise and find solutions when you disagree on what game to play. Getting along with friends takes practice, but it makes you better at understanding different perspectives, working through conflicts peacefully, and being considerate of others' feelings. These are skills that will help you make and keep friends for life! Plus, learning to be a true friend now makes it more likely you'll have healthy, positive relationships whenyou're an adult too.Now let me tell you about one more amazing benefit of friendship - it allows you to be 100% yourself! With your parents and teachers, you might hold back because you want to follow the rules and make them proud. But friends know and love the REAL you, even your goofy, messy, little-kid side. My friends Alice and Emma think it's hilarious when I do impressions of our teacher or make up funny songs about burritos. With them, there's no need to put on an act - I can simply be me. Isn't that the best feeling ever? To篇6The Importance of Having Good FriendsHaving good friends is one of the most important things in life when you're a kid. Friends make life fun and interesting. They also help you get through tough times. I'm going to tell you why friends are so valuable and why you should be a good friend too.The first big reason friends matter is because they make you happy. When I'm at school or playing outside, everything is a lot more enjoyable when I'm with my friends. We laugh together, we play games, we tell jokes and funny stories. Just being around friends puts a smile on my face. Life would be so boring without friends to spend time with and share experiences. My friends also really understand me in a way my parents and teachers don't. We're all kids going through the same things at the same time. We can really relate to each other about things like dealing with annoying siblings, struggling with schoolwork, or getting in trouble sometimes. My friends know what it's like because they're living it too. We can vent to each other, encourage each other, and let off steam together when things are hard.Another important thing about friends is that they have your back and you have theirs. A good friend will stick up for you if someone is bullying you or being mean. They'll defend you and let others know that mistreating you is unacceptable. Having friends watching out for you makes you feel safe, protected, and loved. Of course, you need to do the same for your friends too when they need you.Friends also allow you to try new things and step out of your comfort zone. When I'm by myself, I'm less likely to attempt something risky or unfamiliar that could be fun. But when my friends are doing it and encouraging me, it boosts my confidence to give it a shot. Whether it's jumping off the diving board, riding a bigger roller coaster, or telling a silly joke on stage, friends help you be brave and go for it. You might surprise yourself by what you can do!While having friends is very important, being a good friend is crucial too. A good friend is someone who is caring, loyal, trustworthy, and fun to be around. You need to be there for your friends, not put them down, keep their secrets safe, and make an effort to do activities you both enjoy. A good friend is alsohonest -- you have to be able to provide constructive criticism in a kind way to help your friend improve.Overall, friendships need to be treasured. True friends are hard to find and harder to keep if you don't put in the effort. With good friends by your side, you can get through anything life throws your way. You'll have teammates to take on the world with, laughing all the way. So be a good friend, and your friendships will be rewarding for life!。

Does your name have any special meaning?Well, I am not sure. I guess there is something special about it, but I never asked my grandpa this question. He is the person who gave me my name.Well, I don’t know. It’s just a very common girl name. Actually, I was somewhat annoyed back in high school. People always mistook me for another girl in my class who had exactly the same name. Why do some people change their name?To be frank, I don’t know why but I can only assume that they are not very happy with their names given by others. They want to be in control of everything in their life. What are the advantages of studying instead of working? When studying, I only had to worry about my exams. But now, I have to worry about my unpaid bills, my mortgage an d my children’s exams.Do you agree that there should be a world language for everyone?Yeah, I can’t agree more. I really feel it’s a huge waste of time to learn a second language from other country when we can work out a way for everyone to speak the same language. I think Esperanto is a great idea.Do you agree that people will get married even later in the future? Why?I strongly feel that people are on the way to that, but it’s difficult to explain the reason. Maybe it’s probably th e increasing geographic mobility that makes we feel we have more choices when it comes to dating and marrying, so we keep thinking we can find someone better than we have.Yes, I believe so. Personally, I think people marry later partially because of a decline in the belief of a firm and long-term commitment. What’s more, living together without getting married is no longer considered disgraceful by young people, so the question for them is “why should we get married if we can live together without a weddi ng?”Do you have brothers or sisters? No. I don’t have brothers or sisters. Actually, I am the only daughter in my family. You know, most of the people about my age are the only child in their family. As you know, this is mainly due to the birth control policy in China.Do you prefer to live in a small family or in a large family?Well, I don’t really care whether it’s large or small, as long as I stay with my beloved family. Just as the saying goes, “You don’t choose yourfamily. That’s the God’s gift to you, as you are to them.”It’s true that people living in a smaller family enjoy more mobility and independence, but if I get to choose, I would prefer a large family with relatives caring for, loving and supporting each other, which I think is more important to me.Do you live in a flat or a house?Well, I live in a flat. It’s a kind of old building which has been converted into a six-floor flat house. And I live on the third floor. Can you describe the community you live?I moved to my new apartment only about a year ago. My community is a relatively new residential area with several high-rises around. To be frank, I don’t even know my next-door neighbor. It seems that people all keep to themselves, which is not what I like about my community. Why are holidays important to you?Having a holiday is taking a break. During holidays I can do something I really I want to do, say reading a book I didn’t finish 2 years ago or hanging around with friends to catch up things. How has housework changed in your family in the past few years? Obviously, household chores are no longer for women exclusively. Men are increasingly aware of the significance of sharing housework with their wives, which is beneficial for the family harmony.Wha t’s your favorite sport?I’m very into basketball, you know. I’m a huge fan of Michael Jordon. Playing basketball is a lot of fun. For example, you get to meet new friends. Why is exercise good for you?It is without doubt that doing exercise can be very rewarding. It helps to control body weight, maintain strength and improve immunity. What’s more, doing exercise helps to develop co-ordination and team spirit. Why do you think some people are very into extreme sports?I think the fear that drives many people away from the risks of extreme sports may be the same ingredient that keeps others coming back for more. For some, life is all about adventures, risks and challenges. Can we learn more from television or from books? Both are educational, I believe. Television appeals to young teenagers more, whereas books are attracted to older people. Personally, I’m more into reading. Just like what people say, “if you read a lot of books, you’re considered well-read; but if you watch a lot of TV, yo u’re not consideredwell-viewed.What do you think are healthy foods?Vegetables, of course. All vegetables are naturally low in fat and full of vitamins, minerals and fiber. Actually, vegetables are a must on my diet.To be frank, I don’t really see the point of arranging foods into a “healthy food” class or an “unhealthy food” class. What we should realize is that it is our choice of food and our eating habit that really matters. So I feel it is really unfair to describe pizza, chips and ice cream as junk food. Without them, eating seems to be less fun.Can you consider why fast food restaurants in your town are popular? It’s true that fast food restaurants like KFC and McDonald’s are very popular here. They can be found on almost all high streets. I guess people are always ready to try some exotic foods from other countries. And these western fast food restaurants are clean, casual and comfortable, which have become fashionable social bases. Can you consider the difference between men and women in their shopping habits?Concerning shopping, I think men and women hold distinct attitude. For men, shopping happens when their socks wear out. However, women shop even if the wardrobes are full. Apparently, women’s desire to shop is endless and this is something men can never understand. Is it helpful to teach music courses in high school?Certainly. It makes a good compensation for other courses like math and physics, which I think are very dull and boring. Singing together with my schoolmates is much more fun.Are there any negative effects if children are taught to play a musical instrument?Well, it is hard to say. Personally, I believe that it is undoubtedly of great benefit to a child’s musical development. However, some children who are forced by their parents to play a musical instrument don’t really think so. I guess they have their reasons. How do the old people look at young people fashion? If you ask me, though I haven’t hit 50, I think a daringly fashionable miniskirt is always considered dangerously inappropriate by old people. But I can see why they have strong reaction. Once you hit 50, it is time to think twice about miniskirts. What do you think of the fashion today?“Unexplainable” is the only word for me to explain fashion. But I do feel there are many people strongly influenced by it, otherwise there won’t be so many fashion victims walking on the streets, who wear unreasonably expensive clothes but look perfectly ridiculous. In what ways has tourism changed your country?I’m not so sure but by attracting more foreign visitors, tourism helps to boost economy and create more jobs. At the same time, in order to enhance the city’s image, the government pays more attention to the renovation and maintenance of the infrastructure. So tourism benefits not only individuals but a country as well. What is the public transportation like your town?I think the choices of public transportation are sufficient here in thetown. There are taxi, bus and subway which is a relativelynewcomer. However, like most of the other big cities, traffic congestion was and is still a serious problem. Now with the government’s urge to revitalize automobile industry, the number of private cars is dramatically increasing, which makes the present problem even worse. How do you think it could be improved? This is a question needing quite some consideration. As far as I’m concerned, what sounds more feasible at the moment is to discourage private car driving but to schedule more public transport like buses. Can you consider any negative effects watching TV might cause? Undoubtedly, TV entertains people. However, TV violence is what worries parents most. In order to attract and hold audiences, TV violence has become so graphic that children may be more likely to behave in aggressive or harmful ways towards others. The effects of television seem to be more intensive on younger viewers. The more time children spend watching TV, the less time they are spending doing other important activities like reading, getting exercise, being outdoors and talking with families. Consequently children have such problems like lower reading scores, obesity and poor physical fitness.Do you think festivals are important for a country?Yes, I think so. Every country has traditional festivals. These festivals, apart from its religious importance, also help in creating social, cultural andemotional bonds among people. Besides, people get to have holidays during big festivals like Chinese New Year. How do you compare the Chinese festivals with the western festivals? As far as I know, western festivals are counted according to solar calendar, whereas Chinese festivals use lunar calendar. That’s why Chinese New Year is not the first day of the year on solar calendar. One another difference is that Chinese festivals are not as religious as the western ones.Do you agree that weather could affect people’s mood or personality?I think so. From what I read in the book, when we are exposed to sunlight, our body makes lots of Vitamin, which produce a substance in the brain to affect our mood. If we don’t have enough of this substance, we can become depressed. I guess certain amount of sunbath makes us happier. How do you usually make friends?Frankly speaking, I’m not the sort of person who always takes the initiative to say hi to a total stranger. So most of my high school and college friends are either my next seat fellow or dorm mate. It is the geography that makes people and me much closer.Do you think friends are important to you?Certainly. Friends are not only those who we have fun with; they are the people we turn to for help. Besides, our relationships with friends partially determine our preferences, attitudes and values. Friends always share something in common. What is the relationship between colors and personality?I firmly believe that different personality types are influenced by different shades of colors. I think those outgoing and enthusiastic people prefer warmcolors like yellow, peach and beige. For those sensitive and shy people, blue and purple are their favorites.Speaking Part Two-Describe a Person/PeopleDescribe a family member you are close to.You should say:Who is he/she.What does he/she do.What does he/she look like. And why are you two close. The person I am most close to in my family is my mother. My mum is a petite woman with short wavy hair. She is in her mid 50s but still looks quite young for her age. My mum works in a primary school. She teaches Chinese. She is very patient and gentle so the children in the school quite like her and so do the neighbor kids. When staying with young children, my mum always looks young and passionate. People all say that I look like my mum more than my father. I have got my mother’s big eyes and high cheekbones. In many ways, we share many interests in common. We both like listening to pop music and watching comedies. On weekends, we often go shopping together. But weare also different. My mum fancies exotic plants and she lovesgardening. Our balcony is always green throughout the year. But I have no idea about gardening, no interest at all. To me, my mum sometime is more like a friend. We share many things and do a lot of things together. She is very supportive and encouraging. She always gives me advice on my study and work but she never controls me. She lets me choose my own path in my life. So, yes, my mum is the one I like most in my family.Describe a person you admire. You should say:Who is he/she.What does he/she look like. What is your relationship. And why do you admire him/her.The person I admire is my father. My father is a stocky man of average height. He is in his mid fifties. He’s got small eyes and wears a moustache. He is also going a bit thin on top. In fact, he is going bald. My father is not attractive but he is the person who has always provided encouragementand support for my family. He displays strength andtoughness but has never failed to express his love for me and my mother. He is very sincere and loyal to his friends and family. He is not a rich man but he has provided well for his family by working hard. My father has made huge sacrifices to save enough money to educate me through university and to buy a good apartment in the city centre. My father lives a small but valuable life. In my mind, he is a great man with many outstanding qualities.Describe your family. You should say:How many people are there.Who are they and what do they do.What each person is likeAnd how do you get alone.I live in a big family. By saying “big”, I mean I live with my parents and grandparents. It’s not common nowadays to live with grandparents but I do enjoy it. My grandparents are very close. From the old pictures, I find that my grandmother was a very enchanting young lady. She and my grandfather get on like a house on fire, a very enviable couple. Looking at my grandfather, my father and me, you can see a strong family likeness there. We’ve a ll got the same big nose. I take after my father both in looks and character. A real chip off the old block. My mum always says I get my quick temper from myfather. My father was a policeman before retirement. He used to be strongand well-built, but now he has put on much weight and looks slightlytubby. Actually my grandparents have four children. My father is the youngest and he has two big brothers and an elder sister. They all live too far away from us so we very rarely see them. But we still gather together on some big holidays. So, this is my family.Describe a person you work with. You should say:Who is he/she.When and where did you first meet him/her.How is he/she.And how do you two get alone.I would like to say something about my ex-boss who I worked with 3 years ago when I graduated from college. I still remember the time I got my first job. My first boss was very a very impressive man. He is a middle-aged man, well-groomed, clean-shaven and looks decent. He wears a pair ofglasses. The first time I met him, he appeared to be nice and easy-going. But once I worked for him, I found myself totally wrong about him. Appearance can be really deceptive. He actually was a very tough man. He’s never generous to any mistakes, even to those teeny weenies. He was so unpredictable and unfathomable that you never knew what he was thinking about, which made him more intimidating. Apart from these, he was still a good boss. He was a man with priority in order and I did learn to work efficiently and under pressure. There were some hard times working for him, but you could always feel the push and see your self-improvement.Describe a neighbourYou should say:Who is he/she.When and where did you first meet him/her.How is he/she.And how do you two get alone.Well, I only moved to my new apartment about 1 month ago. To be frank, I don't know quite well about my neighbours and the community is new to me as well. But I know there is a little girl and her parents living next door to my apartment. I got to know this little girl about three weeks after their movingin. I still remember that day when she found herself locked outside the door after school because she forgot to take keys with her. I invited her to my apartment and then we knew each other. She is 11 years old. She always ties a ponytail with a ribbon on it. She is a lovely chubby girl with big eyes and bushy eyebrows. What she hates most about her face are the freckles all over her cheeks, although I find them really cute. She always complains to me about those brown spots and afraid that she has to wear heavy make-up when she grows up. It’s very funny to listen to an eleven-year-old girl complaining about her appearance, which makes her sound mature for her age. She isvery keen on fashion and her dream is to become a fashion designer. That's all I know about my little neighbour. I guess I need to know more about them. You know there is an old Chinese saying: a next-door neighbour is more helpful than a relative living miles away.Describe a famous personYou should say:Who is he/she.How did you know about him/her.Why is he/she famous. And how he/she influenced you.If I have to choose from so many famouse people I know, I have to say "Tom Hanks". I’m a huge fan of Tom Hanks. He is my favourite actor. The firsttime I came to know about him was from one of his most successful acting in “Forrest Gump”. In the movie he played one of his best roles as a simple, decent and honest man whose body grew to maturity but remained a child in heart and spirit. Tom’s performance was very impressive. His brilliant acting made the character so convincing and memorable that I sometimes almost believed that Tom was playing himself in this movie. I always had the same feeling each tim e I enjoyed Tom Hank’s movie, “Philadelphia”, “Sleepless in Seattle”, “Saving Private Ryan”, “You’ve got mail”, “Cast away”, “Band of Brothers”. There is no doubt of his acting ability. And one another reason I am completely taken by him is that he is the epitome of a nice man, a strong willed and determined hero in men’s eyes, a lovable and charming man in women’s eyes. You see, Tom is not only a successful actor playing different roles in movies but a perfect man as he play himself in the real life.。

Are friends important to you? They are really important
to me! Hi, my name is Phil and I’m 17. I’m from Harwich, a town in England. You can see my friend Max and me in the picture when we were at Primary School.
Max and I were close friends. We had lots of things in common: we were born on the same day, we were in the same class, we liked the same girls, we enjoyed the same games… We had a great time playing together! Football was one of our favourite games but we played lots of other games, too: leapfrog, hide-and-seek, blind man’s bluff, snakes and ladders, marbles, tug of war,… And w e never got bored!!
Max left England when we were 13 because his father got a job in the USA. We promised to keep in touch and write to each other regularly. And th at’s what we did!
I haven’t seen Max since then but last week I got good news from him. He’s coming back to England next month! He’s going to start a university course in Oxford, so we’ll meet quite often now. I’M SO HAPPY!
I can’t wait to s ee him. We’ve got lots of things to talk about. I know we´ll enjoy our time together again !
