Good morning, my dear judges. I’m No.————candidate. The lesson I’m going to talk about is “Unit 1 Can you play the guitar ?” Today, I will explain this lesson from seven parts.

1.analysis of the teaching material.

2.analysis of the students.

3.analysis of the teaching aims.

4.analysis of the main points and difficult points.

5. analysis of the teaching and learning methods.

6. analysis of the teaching procedures.

7. analysis of the blackboard design.

Firstly, analysis of the teaching material. This lesson is from the speaking and listening part of section A, Unit 1 of PEP junior middle school English book 2.The main topic is “abilities and joining a club” which is close to the students’ daily life. The usage of the modal verb “can” is main point of the lesson. Through this lesson , students can talk about their abilities freely.

Secondly, analysis of the students, as for the students of Grade 7, they have the basic ability of English study, and they have learned the what question last semester. They are curious about new knowledge, most of them are very cooperative, but too shy to express themselves in English.

Thirdly, analysis of the teaching aims.

1.Knowledge objects

Students can grasp the new words, phrases and the usage of m odal verb “can”.Students' listening and speaking ability can be improved after class. They can apply these words into the sentence pattern by repeated practice and learn to talk about their abilities freely in English.

2. Ability objects

(1) To develop t he students’ abilities of listening, speaking.

(2) To train the students’ ability of working in pairs.

(3) To develop the students’ abilities of communication by learning the useful structures.

3. Moral objects

(1) Through different teaching methods to make students be interested in study.

(2) Love to know more knowledge about abilities and dare to express their opinions in English.

According to the analysis above, I set the main points and difficult points as the followings.

Develop students’ listening and speaking abilities. Enable students to master the structure and usage of the modal verb can.

I would like to talk about the teaching and learning methods. According to the Teaching Aims and the feature of my students, Communicative Approach, Game Teaching Method and Task-based Teaching Method will be adopted. The students can learn this lesson by imitation, cooperation and exploration.

Now, let’s move to the most important part of this lesson: the analysis of the teaching procedures.

Step1: Lead-in.

At the beginning of this lesson, after greetings , I will invite some students to give us the talent show to encourage them to learn some talents. Then, elicit the title “Unit 1 Can you play the guitar ? ”

Step 2: presentation

Now, l et’s focus on Task 1 Learn the new words and phrases. I will use the PPT to show some pictures of abilities, which I took from their daily life. Now elicit the new words: guitar, play the guitar, swim, play chess, tell story, speak English, and so on. After that I will give the students 2 minutes to remember the new words and phrases and have a memory competition, which is an effective way of learning. Then finish 1 a.

Task 2 Learn the new structures

I will use the pictures of myself to ask students “Look, I can play chess,can you play chess” lead them to say “ Yes, I can.” Or “No, I can’t.” Then use another picture “I can swim, Can she swim?”“Yes, she can. No, she can’t.”Then use another picture “I can run, Can they run?” “Yes, they can. No, they can’t.” Then practice these sentences in pair. To practice more, I will invite one student to stand in front of the class, he can choose one card without looking at it, the others will ask “what can you do?” he will guess the answer. The class atmosphere can be activated by the game. Then finish 1b.

Now the students can master the sentences. So, I will give them some tips and 3 minutes to discuss in groups, try to find the usage of “can” by cooperation and communication. I will guide

them when they have some troubles.

Step3 listening practice

pre-listening, I will teach the name of some clubs and ask “I can swim, I want to join the swimming club. What club do you want to join? Lead Ss to answer: I want to join the music club.

Then practice by pair-work and show 3groups.

While-listening. I will play the tap 3 times. First time, students just listen and try to get the main points. Second time, listen and finish 2 a. Third time, read the sentences as fast as they can, then listen to the tap for the third time and finish 2 b. Check the answer.

Post-listening, we will prepare for the last activity in this lesson. In order to achieve the goal of knowledge into abilities, help students to use the words and structures in communication, I create a situation about “clubs recruitment”, students can role-play and make up a conversation by groups.

Next, step 4 Summary and Home work

At the end of the class, ask the students such questions:What have we learned from this lesson? What can you do? What club do you want to join? What new phrases have we learned today? Do you have enough confidence to finish these exercises? Now, let’s try! Then show them some exercises and help them to finish them. At last, tell the students what today’s homework is.

In order to favors the students to knowledge grasping, and make a summary to consolidate what they have learnt, I design the blackboard writing clearly like this.
