Ⅰ. 什么是英语成语
英语以成语(idiom)丰富而著称,而且种类繁多。从严格意 义上来说,英语成语既不属于词汇的范畴,也不属于语 法的范畴,它本质上是一种“语言习惯”,是语言在长 期的运用过程中在句法、词汇和语义方面所形成的特点, 无理据可言。这种语言习惯,不但因语言不同而相异, 就是同一种语言也会随着时代的发展而变化。在莎士比 亚时代,人们普遍认同这样的疑问句式(“Like you this?”) 和否定句式(“I like it not.”),
