IQ or EQ?By AznJust4U - Posted on August 11th, 2007T agged: SocietyWhich do you think is better, IQ or EQ? Sure, we've all heard that IQ gets you thru school and EQ gets you thru life. But what do you really think? A person with High IQ and little EQ, will he /she be happy with it? I have to say, I’m not the genius type, but I’m known to always be the "too" nice kid. From my point of view, i would have to say I well rather have IQ then EQ. If I have the IQ, the chances of me become 'SOMETHING' in this world would be a lot wider. On the other hand, my EQ can always make a frown turn upside down. =) see?I was flipping the channels the other day. I ended up watching some old Chinese drama. In this episode, a mentally defective man and his unattractive wife had a gamble with the gods. This couple was known as the town freaks. one day this man went to pray, to become smart. And with the man's gentle heart, the gods came in a helped him out. as this man got more and more popular, he learned to become greedy. He once again asked the gods for another favor, To make his wife beautiful. When the god heard of this wish, he new this gentle man had not only changed this brain but his heart as well. The god granted him the wish, but from that day forward, this couple never had a good day.In the end, the couple wished back to being the town freaks that they were. only this way, will they have there simple lives. So this story tells us, EQ is greater then IQ?IQ Vs. EQBy Candy TymsonYou are on an interview panel working with a short list of three people for a senior role. Every candidate has top educational and technical abilities - how do you decide which one would be the best for the job?Your company is downsizing and 20% of your team has to go. The decree is to keep 'the best people'. On what criteria would you decide who is 'the best'?I picked up a book at the airport recently by Daniel Goleman on 'Working with Emotional Intelligence' ?and just couldn't put it down.According to Goleman "our emotional intelligence determines our potential for learning the practical skills that are based on its five elements: self-awareness, motivation, self-regulation, empathy, and adeptness in relationships. Our emotional competence shows how much of that potential we have translated into on-the-job capabilities".The Impact of Emotional MaturityThink back to the top performers at your school, university or colleague. What are they doing today?I know a number of people who are good examples of outstanding IQ and low EQ. One topped the State in his final year exam. Forty years later he lives alone and works as a postman. Another acquaintance came in the top twenty in the State, twenty years ago. He now works as a clerk in the taxation department. And yet I know others who had mediocre academic performances and yet have been outstanding achievers in the business world. So do you.A study of Harvard graduates in the fields of law, medicine, teaching, and business found that scores on entrance exams - a surrogate for IQ - had zero or negative correlation with their eventual career success. So think back to the two scenarios: deciding whom you are going to hire or fire. What is it that would make you select one person over another of equal technical skills?Star Performers Are Aware of Their LimitsResearch has confirmed time and time again that it is a person's communication skills that gets them to the top - and keeps them there.Ask any executive recruitment specialist and they will tell you that the emotional competence of the candidate is proving to be as important today as their intellectual competence. It's not that star performers have no limits on their abilities but rather they are aware of their limits. In short, out-of-control emotions can make smart people ineffective. What we are talking about is an ability to control and direct your emotions and feelings, but not being so controlled that you stifle all feeling and spontaneity - and therefore any spontaneous behaviour from those around you.If you have emotional competence you have a choice as to how you express your feelings and how you act. What are EQ Strengths? How do you score according to Goleman's list of what characteristics determine how successfully you handle impulse and deal with upsets?Do you have the following attributes?∙Self Control: Are able to manage disruptive emotions and impulses effectively∙Trustworthiness: Display honesty and integrity∙Conscientiousness: Dependable and responsible in fulfilling obligations∙Adaptability: Flexible in handling change and challenges∙Innovation: Open to novel ideas, approaches, and new information. And how are you when people give you feedback? (Or indeed are you even open to accepting feedback?)What we are effectively talking about is emotional maturity. An openness, willingness and self-confidence to develop and grow, to be mature in how we handle others and ourselves. In business for example it is the ability to step aside from your emotional reaction in an upsetting circumstance and look logically at what actually happened - and sometimes being that honest can be very confronting! However it enables you to see where the other person is coming from, and what you need to do to fix things. How's your EQ?。

iq和eq哪个更重要 英语作文

iq和eq哪个更重要英语作文英文回答:IQ and EQ are both important in our lives, but if I have to choose which one is more important, I would say EQ is more important. IQ, or intelligence quotient, measures our cognitive abilities such as problem-solving, logical reasoning, and mathematical skills. On the other hand, EQ, or emotional quotient, measures our ability to understand and manage our own emotions, as well as understand and influence the emotions of others.Having a high IQ is definitely beneficial in many aspects of life, such as academic achievements and professional success. However, without a high EQ, it can be difficult to navigate through the complexities of human relationships and social interactions. For example, in a workplace setting, a person with high IQ may be very knowledgeable and skilled in their field, but if they lack EQ, they may struggle to communicate effectively with theircolleagues, understand their emotions, and resolveconflicts. This can ultimately hinder their career advancement and success. On the other hand, a person with high EQ is able tobuild strong relationships, communicate effectively, and navigate through social situations with ease. They are empathetic, resilient, and have good interpersonal skills. For example, a leader with high EQ is able to understandthe emotions of their team members, motivate and inspire them, and create a positive and productive work environment. This can lead to higher employee satisfaction, better teamwork, and ultimately, better business results. In my personal experience, I have seen how EQ can makea significant difference in various aspects of life. For instance, I have a friend who is not the most academically gifted, but he has an incredible ability to connect with people, understand their feelings, and offer support. As a result, he has a wide network of friends and colleagues who trust and rely on him. On the other hand, I know someone who is extremely intelligent, but struggles to maintainhealthy relationships due to a lack of emotional awareness and empathy. In conclusion, while IQ is important for academic and professional success, EQ is essential for building strong relationships, effective communication, and overall well-being. In today's interconnected and fast-paced world, having a high EQ can be the key to thriving in both personal and professional spheres.

Emotional Quotient EQ and Intelligence Quotient IQ are two critical aspects that define a persons ability to navigate through life. While IQ is often associated with cognitive abilities and problemsolving skills,EQ pertains to the capacity to understand, use,and manage emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges, and resolve conflict. The debate on whether EQ is more important than IQ has been ongoing, but many argue that EQ plays a more significant role in personal and professional success.Understanding EQ and IQEQ is the ability to identify, assess, and control ones emotions,as well as the ability to understand the emotions of others. It involves selfawareness, selfregulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. On the other hand,IQ is a measure of a persons reasoning ability, which includes logical, abstract, and spatial thinking. It is often tested through standardized tests and is considered a predictor of academic success. The Importance of EQ in Personal RelationshipsIn personal relationships,EQ is paramount. It allows individuals to communicate effectively, understand the emotions of their partners, and respond appropriately.High EQ individuals are often better at resolving conflicts and maintaining healthy relationships. They are also more likely to be empathetic, which helps in building trust and understanding within relationships.EQ in the WorkplaceIn professional settings,EQ is equally important. It helps in building strong teams,as individuals with high EQ can work well with others, understand their colleagues perspectives, and manage group dynamics effectively. They are also better at leadership roles,as they can motivate and inspire their teams, and handle stress and pressure with grace.IQ and Academic SuccessWhile IQ is crucial for academic success,it is not the sole determinant of a persons ability to excel in life.High IQ individuals may excel in exams and problemsolving tasks, but they may struggle with social interactions and emotional management. This can limit their ability to work effectively in teams and lead to isolation. The Balance Between EQ and IQIt is essential to recognize that both EQ and IQ have their merits and are necessary for different aspects of life. However,in todays interconnected and fastpaced world, the ability to manage emotions, communicate effectively, and empathize with others is becoming increasingly important.EQ helps individuals adapt to change, work under pressure, and maintain a positive outlook, which are all crucial for success in both personal and professional life.ConclusionIn conclusion, while IQ is undoubtedly important,EQ is arguably more critical in todays society. It is the emotional intelligence that enables individuals to navigate the complexities of human relationships and work environments. As we continue to evolve in a world that values collaboration, empathy, and emotional resilience,it is clear that EQ plays a pivotal role in determining ones overall success and wellbeing. Therefore,it is essential to cultivate and value EQ as much as we do IQ,ensuring a balanced approach to personal and professional development.。

iq和eq哪个更重要 英语作文

iq和eq哪个更重要英语作文英文回答:In my opinion, both IQ and EQ are important indifferent aspects of life. IQ, or intelligence quotient, refers to a person's cognitive abilities, such as problem-solving skills, logical reasoning, and memory. On the other hand, EQ, or emotional quotient, refers to a person'sability to understand and manage their own emotions, as well as understand and empathize with the emotions of others.Having a high IQ is often associated with academic success and intellectual achievements. For example, a person with a high IQ may excel in academic subjects, such as mathematics, science, or literature. They may also be able to quickly grasp complex concepts and come up with innovative solutions to problems. However, having a high IQ does not necessarily guarantee success in life. Many highly intelligent individuals struggle with interpersonalrelationships, communication, and emotional regulation. This is where EQ comes into play. People with high emotional intelligence are able to navigate social situations with ease, build strong relationships, and effectively manage their own emotions. For example, a person with high EQ may be able to defuse a tense situation at work, comfort a friend in distress, or motivate and inspire others to achieve their goals. These are skillsthat are crucial for success in both personal and professional life.In my own experience, I have seen how both IQ and EQ are important. I have a friend who is incrediblyintelligent and excels in academic pursuits. However, he often struggles with understanding the emotions of others and expressing his own emotions. As a result, he has difficulty building and maintaining meaningful relationships. On the other hand, I have another friend who may not be the most academically gifted, but she has an incredible ability to connect with others, understand their feelings, and provide support when needed. As a result, shehas a wide circle of friends and is well-liked by her colleagues. In conclusion, both IQ and EQ are important, and one should strive to develop both. While IQ may help in academic and intellectual pursuits, EQ is crucial for success in relationships and emotional well-being. As the saying goes, "It's not just what you know, but how you use it." 。

Here is the passage which talk about how to improve our EQ? Let’s read this passage and know how to do !
Now let’s take a look at some ways in which we can increase the levels of our own emotional intelligence so that employers will be fighting over us! The first step is to label our own feelings rather than labelling situations or other people. We should say things like “I feel angry” instead of “this is a ridiculous situation”。 Secondly, it is very important to know the difference between a thought and a feeling. In terms of language we express thoughts by saying “I feel like” or “I feel as if” but for feelings we say “I feel” and then a feeling word, an adjective happy, angry, frustrated。 Next - and this is a crucial point - we should take more responsibility for our feelings. Instead of saying “you are making me jealous” we ought to say “I feel jealous”。 After this we need to learn how to use our feelings to help us make decisions. Ask yourselves “How will I feel if I do this?” or “How will I feel if I don’t?” Another important issue here is respect. We have to respect the feelings of others. We should ask ourselves questions like “How will this person feel if I do this?”
• Emotional Quotient (EQ) is the ability to identify, assess, and control the emotions of oneself, of others, and of groups. Various models and definitions have been proposed of which the ability and trait EQ models are the most widely accepted in the scientific literature. Criticisms have centered on whether the construct is a real intelligence and whether it has incremental validity over IQ and the Big Five personality dimensions.
• There have been a variety of studies of IQ and aging since the norming of the first Wechsler Intelligence Scale drew attention to IQ differences in different age groups of adults. Current consensus is that fluid intelligence generally declines with age after early adulthood, while crystallized intelligence remains intact. Both cohort effects (the birth year of the test-takers) and practice effects (test-takers taking the same form of IQ test more than once) must be controlled for to gain accurate data. It is unclear whether any lifestyle intervention can preserve fluid intelligence into older ages. • The peak of capacity for both fluid intelligence and crystallized intelligence occurs at age 26. This is followed by a slow decline.
UNIT 2 PRESENTATION
MADE BY: 符观宇、罗宇飞、雷梓杰、 罗通划、何允全、黎浩恒
• An intelligence quotient, or IQ, is a score derived from one of several different stas intelligence. The term "IQ" comes from the German Intelligenz-Quotient. When modern IQ tests are constructed, the mean (average) score within an age group is set to 100 and the standard deviation (SD) to 15. Today almost all IQ tests adhere to the assignment of 15 IQ points to each standard deviation, but this has not been the case historically. By construction, approximately 95% of the population scores within two SDs of the mean, i.e., has an IQ between 70 and 130.
IQ and AGE
• IQ can change to some degree over the course of childhood. However, in one longitudinal study, the mean IQ scores of tests at ages 17 and 18 were correlated at r=.86 with the mean scores of tests at ages 5, 6 and 7 and at r=.96 with the mean scores of tests at ages 11, 12 and 13. • IQ scores for children are relative to children of a similar age. That is, a child of a certain age does not do as well on the tests as an older child or an adult with the same IQ. But relative to persons of a similar age, or other adults in the case of adults, they do equally well if the IQ scores are the same. • For decades, it has been reported in practitioners' handbooks and textbooks on IQ testing that IQ declines with age after the beginning of adulthood. However, later researchers pointed out that this phenomenon is related to the Flynn effect and is in part a cohort effect rather than a true aging effect.
• IQ scores have been shown to be associated with such factors as morbidity and mortality, parental social status, and, to a substantial degree, parental IQ. While the heritability of IQ has been investigated for nearly a century, controversy remains regarding the significance of heritability estimates, and themechanisms of inheritance are still a matter of some debate.
HOW IMPORTENT OUR EQ ARE
• 1、Respect the human rights and everyone human dignity of everyone. Never saddle one's sense of worth on others. Can soberly think about oneself and can bear the press. Have confidence but not complancence. Have good interpersonal relationship. Be good at dealing with all kinds of problem in life. • 2、EQ is a kind of ability.EQ is a kind of Creation .And EQ is a kind of skill. Now that EQ is a skill so it has rule to obye, and it can be grasped .If only we have more courage ,more chansten and more investment in human relationships,wo can be like the proficient in EQ,can build a loosen surroundings,a contacts for yourself, and a space which can exert yourself better. • 3、The investigation indicate that :to a person to be successful or not ,the IQ makes up only 20 per cent ,but the EQ makes up 80 per cent.someone think that :"IQ decides the chioce of the work ,EQ decides the preferment.”
