Impression of “Invisible Man”The narrator begins telling his story with the claim that he is an “invisible man.” His invisibility, he says, is not a physical condition—he is not literally invisible—but is rather the result of the refusal of others to see him.He says that because of his invisibility, he has been hiding from the world, living underground and stealing electricity from the Monopolated Light & Power Company. He burns 1,369 light bulbssimultaneously and listens to Louis Armstrong’s “(What Did I Do to Be So)Black and Blue” on a phonograph. He says that he has gone underground in order to write the story of his life and invisibility. As a young man, in the late 1920s or early 1930s, the narrator lived in the South.Because he is a gifted public speaker, he is invited to give a speech to a group of important white men in his town. The men reward him with a briefcase containing a scholarship to a prestigious black college, but only after humiliating him by forcing him to fight in a “battle royal” in which he is pitted against other young black men, all blindfolded, in a boxing ring. After the battle royal, the white men force the youths to scramble over an electrified rug in order to snatch at fake gold coins.Three years later, the narrator is a student at the college. He is asked to drive a wealthy white trustee of the college, Mr.Norton, around the campus.Norton talks incessantly about his daughter, then shows an undue interest in the narrative of Jim Trueblood, a poor, uneducated black man who impregnated his own daughter. After hearing this story, Norton needs a drink, and the narrator takes him to the GoldenDay, a saloon and brothel that normally serves black men.A fight breaks out among a group of mentally imbalanced black veterans at the bar, and Norton passes out during the chaos. He is tended by one of the veterans, who claims to be a doctor and who taunts both Norton and the narrator for their blindness regarding race relations. The narrator says that he has stayed underground ever since;the end of his story is also the beginning. He states that he finally has realized that he must honor his individual complexity and remain true to his own identity without sacrificing his responsibility to the community. He says that he finally feels ready to emerge from underground.ThemesAs the narrator of Invisible Man struggles to arrive at a conception of his own identity, he finds his efforts complicated by the fact that he is a black man living in a racist American society.Throughout the novel, the narrator finds himself passing through a series of communities, from the Liberty Paints plant to the Brotherhood, with each microcosm endorsing a different idea of how blacks should behave in society. As the narrator attempts to define himself through the values and expectations imposed on him, he finds that, in each case, the prescribed role limits his complexity as an individual and forces him to play an inauthentic part.Upon arriving in New York, the narrator enters the world of the Liberty Paints plant, which achieves financial success by subverting blackness in the service of a brighter white. There, the narrator finds himself involved in a process in which white depends heavily on black—both in terms of the mixing of the paint tones and in terms of the racial makeup of the workforce.Yet the factory denies this dependence in the final presentation of its product, and the narrator, as a black man, ends up ter, when the narrator joins the Brotherhood, hebelieves that he can fight for racial equality by working within the ideology of the organization, but he then finds that the Brotherhood seeks to use him as a token black man in its abstract project.Ultimately, the narrator realizes that the racial prejudice of others causes them to see him only as they want to see him, and their limitations of vision in turn place limitations on his ability to act.He concludes2that he is invisible, in the sense that the world is filled with blind people who cannot or will not see his real nature.Correspondingly, he remains unable to act according to his own personality and becomes literally unable to be himself.Although the narrator initially embraces his invisibility in an attempt to throw off the limiting nature of stereotype, in the end he finds this tactic too passive. He determines to emerge from his underground “hibernation,” to make his own contributions to society as a complex individual. He will attempt t o exert his power on the world outside of society’s system of prescribed roles.By making proactive contributions to society, he will force others to acknowledge him, to acknowledge the existence of beliefs and behaviors outside of their prejudiced expectations.Over the course of the novel, the narrator realizes that the complexity of his inner self is limited not only by people’s racism but also by their more general ideologies. He finds that the ideologies advanced byinstitutions prove too simplistic and one-dimensional to serve something as complex and multidimensional as human identity. The novel contains many examples of ideology, from the tamer, ingratiating ideology of Booker T.Washington subscribed to at the narrator’s college to the more violent, sepa ratist ideology voiced by Ras the Exhorter. But the text makes its pointmost strongly in its discussion of the Brotherhood.Among the Brotherhood, Because he has decided that the world is full of blind men and sleepwalkers who cannot see him for what he is, the narrator describes himself as an “invisible man.” The motif of invisibility pervades the novel, often manifesting itself hand in hand with the motif of blindness—one person becomes invisible because another is blind. While the novel almost always portrays blindness in a negative light, it treats invisibility much more ambiguously.Invisibility can bring disempowerment, but it can also bring freedom and mobility.Indeed, it is the freedom the narrator derives from his anonymity that enables him to tell his story. Moreover, both the veteran at the Golden Day and the narrator’s grandfather seem3to endorse invisibility as a position from which one may safely exert power over others, or at least undermine others’ power, without being caught. The narrator demonstrates this power in the Prologue, when he literally draws upon electrical power from his hiding place underground;the electric company is aware of its losses but cannot locate their source. At the end of the novel, however, the narrator has decided that while invisibility may bring safety, actions undertaken in secrecy cannot ultimately have any meaningful impact. One may undermine one’s enemies from a position of invisibility, but one cannot make significant changes to the world.Accordingly, in the Epilogue the narrator decides to emerge from his hibernation, resolved to face society and make a visible difference. Rain Man Review Rain Man is a moving story about two brothers. The younger brother named Charlie is a business man and hated his father a lot.He cares nothing but money.

My dad is like a superhero to me. He may not wear a cape or have superpowers, but he is always there to protect me and make me feel safe. He is like a hidden hero, always ready to swoop in and save the day.Growing up, my dad was always the one I could count on. Whether it was helping me with my homework, cheering me on at my soccer games, or just listening to me talk about my day, he was always there for me. He may not have been the loudest or the most outgoing, but his quiet strength and unwavering support meant the world to me.As I got older, I began to realize just how much my dad had sacrificed for our family. He worked long hours to provide for us, always putting our needs before his own. He never complained or sought recognition for all that he did, he was just content knowing that we were taken care of.Now that I am older, I see my dad in a new light. I see the sacrifices he made, the love he showed, and the values he instilled in me. He may not be a superhero in the traditional sense, but to me, he is the greatest hero of all.

The Invisible Man" is a thought-provoking novel that explores the consequences of unchecked power and the dangers of isolation. The story follows Griffin, abrilliant scientist who discovers the secret toinvisibility. However, instead of using his newfound power for good, Griffin becomes consumed by his own ego and descends into madness. One of the major themes in the book is the corrupting influence of power. Griffin starts off as a well-meaning scientist, but his invisibility gives him the ability to commit crimes without consequence. This leads him to become increasingly violent and unhinged. It serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of power without responsibility.Another theme is the isolation that comes with beingdifferent. Griffin's invisibility sets him apart from society, and he becomes increasingly isolated and lonely. This drives him further into madness, as he longs for human connection but is unable to find it. It's a poignant exploration of the human need for social interaction and belonging. The novel also raises questions about identity and the masks we wear. Griffin's invisibility allows him to shed his physical appearance and move freely without being seen. However, this freedom comes at the cost of his humanity. He becomes a mere shadow, devoid of any real identity. This raises the question of whether our true selves are defined by our physical appearance or by our actions and relationships. In conclusion, "The Invisible Man" is a captivating novel that delves into the dark side of human nature and the consequences of unchecked power. It serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of isolation and the importance of human connection. Through the character of Griffin, the novel explores themes of power, identity, andthe need for social interaction.

In the captivating film "Hidden Figures," the remarkable true story of three pioneering African American women who played crucial roles in the NASA space program during the 1960s is brought to life. This inspiring cinematic masterpiece not only sheds light on the pivotal contributions of these unsung heroes but also serves as a poignant reminder of the persistent struggles for equality and recognition that marginalized communities have faced throughout history. The film's narrative revolves around the lives of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson, three brilliant mathematicians and engineers who worked at the segregated West Area Computing unit of the Langley Research Center in Virginia. At a time when racial and gender discrimination were deeply entrenched in American society, these women overcame numerous obstacles to prove their exceptional talents and make invaluable contributions to the nation's space exploration efforts. One of the most striking aspects of the film is the way it highlights the sheer determination and resilience of these women in the face ofadversity. Despite being relegated to a separate "colored" computing unit, Katherine, Dorothy, and Mary refused to be deterred by the systemic barriers that stood in their way. They displayed a relentless work ethic, continuously honing their skills and pushing the boundaries of what was considered possible for African American women in the 1960s.The film's portrayal of Katherine Johnson's role as a "human computer" is particularly compelling. As a mathematical prodigy, Katherine was tasked with performing complex calculations that were crucial to the success of NASA's space missions. Her meticulous attention to detail and her ability to quickly solve intricate mathematical problems earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues, even as she faced discrimination and exclusion from the predominantly white and male engineering team. The film also shines a light on the struggles of Dorothy Vaughan, who fought tirelessly to secure recognition and advancement for herself and her team of "colored computers." Despite facing constant obstacles and resistance from her superiors, Dorothy persevered, teaching herself and her team the programming language necessary to operate the newly introduced IBM mainframe computers. Her unwavering determination and resourcefulness not only ensured the continued relevance of her team but also paved the way for their eventual integration into the broader engineering community.Similarly, the story of Mary Jackson's journey to become NASA's first African American female engineer is a testament to the power of resilience and determination. Faced with the daunting challenge of obtaining the necessary educational qualifications to pursue an engineering career, Mary navigated a complex web of bureaucratic hurdles and social prejudices, ultimately emerging victorious and inspiring generations of young women to follow in her footsteps. The film's depiction of these women's personal lives further enhances the emotional impact of their stories. The audience is given a glimpse into the delicate balancing act they performed, juggling their demanding professional responsibilities with the challenges of maintaining strong family ties and navigating the social norms of the era. These intimate portrayals humanize the characters and make their triumphs all the more inspiring. One of the most remarkable aspects of "Hidden Figures" is its ability to shed light on a crucial yet often overlooked chapter in American history. By bringing the stories of Katherine, Dorothy, and Mary to the forefront, the film not only celebrates their individual accomplishments but also serves as a powerful reminder of the vital contributions made by African American women to the advancement of science, technology, and the broader social fabric of the United States. Moreover, the film's relevance extends far beyond its historical context. In a world still grappling with issues of racial and gender inequality, "Hidden Figures" serves as a powerful testament to the importance of diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity. It reminds us that true progress and innovation can only be achieved when we embrace the unique perspectives and talents of all individuals, regardless of their race, gender, or socioeconomic background. In conclusion, "Hidden Figures" is a cinematic masterpiece that not only entertains but also educates and inspires. By shining a light on the remarkable achievements of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson, the film not only pays tribute to these unsung heroes but also serves as a powerful call to action for a more equitable and inclusive future. As we reflect on the lessons of the past, we are reminded of the transformative power of perseverance, resilience, and the unwavering pursuit of excellence, regardless of the obstacles that may stand in our way.。

Invisibility can be a superpower that allows me to do good deeds without being noticed. With this ability, I can help people in need and make a positive impact on their lives. For example, I can secretly donate money to charitable organizations or anonymously provide food and clothing to homeless individuals. By doing so, I can make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate without seeking recognition or praise.Another way I can use my invisibility for good is by preventing crime. I can discreetly follow potential criminals and gather evidence to help law enforcement apprehend them. This would contribute to creating a safer community and protecting innocent people from harm. Additionally, I can use my invisibility to rescue people in dangerous situations without putting myself at risk. For instance, if I see someone drowning, I can quicklyintervene without drawing attention to myself.Furthermore, my invisibility can be beneficial in promoting equality and justice. I can infiltrate places where discrimination or unfair practices occur and gather evidence to expose them. By shedding light on these injustices, I can contribute to creating a more equitable society. Additionally, I can use my invisibility to protect whistleblowers and witnesses, ensuring their safety and enabling them to come forward with important information.Overall, being invisible gives me the opportunity to perform acts of kindness and make a positive impact without seeking recognition. The invisible man tells a story about a scientist called Griffin who theorizes that people will be invisible with some scientific procedures. He succeeded, but could not become visible again. Instead of applying it to benefit mankind, Griffin tried to use it to control others and make evil gains. Consequently, he was killed by a crowd of people.
Emotionally, I am a little sympathetic to Griffin. After leaving university Mr. Griffin was desperately poor. Determined to achieve something of scientific significance, he began to work on an experiment to make people and objects invisible. He performed the experiment using a cat, but when the cat's owner, Griffin's neighbor, realized the cat was missing, she made a complaint to their landlord, and Griffin wound up performing the invisibility procedure on himself to hide from them. He takes a keen interest in his studies, which is rarely seen among university students. The reality is that few of us pay much attention to our academic subjects. I could feel somewhat lonely as he talked much about his experiment, his experience and his plan when he met Kemp. Pitifully, this scientist became clearly insane and was violently assaulted by the workers eventually. The Invisible Man died of the injuries he had received, and his naked battered body slowly became visible on the ground after he dies.
This story leads to my thinking about the advanced technology of present-day society. On the one hand, people the world over have profited enormously from the technology innovations and progressions, in terms of both efficiency and flexibility. Specifically, biotechnology enables factories to produce more effective medicine, and information technology facilitates more rapid communication and cooperation. Furthermore, technology contributes to better utilize the natural resources we have. Obviously, we get a clearer perspective of the nature and better balance between development and environment with technology.
On the other hand, the staggering advancement of technology is always accompanied by disturbing phenomenon. In the first place, technology may breed endless greedless. This is well illustrated with Griffin, who used technology as a tool to make a fortune, even conduct other evil behavior. In the second place, if a scientist does not have a sense of justice and responsibility, misuse will ensure. This scientist is just a case in point, he planed to begin a Reign of Terror, using his invisibility to terrorize the nation with Kemp as his secret confederate.
The invisible man is so popular that it has many adaptations of films and TV series. Maybe it is attributed to the fact the use of technology is such a frequent topic of discussion.。
