English Learning Experience in Junior HighSchoolLearning a new language can sometimes feel like a tough mountain to climb, especially when you're in the early stages.I remember when I first started studying English in junior high school, it was like being thrown into the deep end of a pool without knowing how to swim. The first unit we studied was full of unfamiliar words, grammar rules, and strange sounds that made me wonder if I was ever going to make it. But, as time passed, I started noticing small changes in myself that made me believe I could do it.One of the things I really struggled with at first was remembering new vocabulary. I remember one particular word, "delicious." I had learned it in a sentence about food, but I could never remember how to pronounce it correctly. It always came out sounding a bit like "de-leesh-ous," which made my classmates laugh every time I said it. I felt embarrassed and frustrated, but instead of giving up, I started practicing with my friends. They would correct me, and I would try again and again. Slowly, I started getting it right, and now I can't stop saying it every time I eat something tasty!Another big challenge was understanding the grammar. In Chinese, sentence structures are quite different from English. For example, in English, you often have to use auxiliary verbs like "do" and "have," which we don’t use in the same way in Chinese.I remember one day in class, we were learning how to form questions, and I was totally lost. "Do you like pizza?" seemed so simple to my teacher, but in my head, it felt like a puzzle. I kept getting the word order wrong, mixing up the "do" with the subject. My teacher was patient and walked me through it again, and eventually, it clicked. It was such a relief when I finally understood it, and now I feel more confident when speaking in English. There was also the matter of listening comprehension. At first, I could hardly understand what anyone was saying in English. The speed at which people spoke, the accents, and the rapid-fire exchange of words all seemed like an impossible task. However, I had a great teacher who encouraged us to listen to English songs, watch movies, and even use language-learning apps. Little by little, I started picking up phrases and words here and there.I remember one of the first movies I watched in English was "Finding Nemo." At first, I couldn’t catch a single word, but by the end, I was able to understand most of the conversations. That felt like a huge victory. However, my biggest breakthrough came when I had the chance to visit an English-speaking country with my family. It was a summer trip to the UK, and I was both excited and terrified. I had studied English for a year, but I still didn’t feel like I was ready to speak it confidently with native speakers. But as soon as I stepped off the plane, I realized that there was no turning back. I had to use English, and I had to use it fast! The first time I ordered food in a restaurant, I was so nervous, but the waiter was really kind and patient. He asked me about my day, and I managed to answer without stumbling too much. It wasn’t perfect, but it was enough. And that was the moment I felt like I had really started to "get" English.Since then, my confidence has grown, and I now enjoy using English in my daily life. Whether it’s chatting with friends, watching movies, or reading books, I feel more comfortable and capable. English isn’t just a subject in school anymore; it’s a tool I use to connect with the world around me. Looking back, it’s amazing to see how far I’ve come. I’m still learning, but I’m not the same person who walked into that classroom full of fear and confusion. Every little step, every mistake, and every success has led me to this point, and I know I’ll keep improving. The journey isn’t easy, but it’s definitely worth it.八年级上册英语m1u2学习一门新语言有时候就像爬一座艰难的山,尤其是在刚开始的时候。
