The watch officer must relieve the watch on time, reporting to the bridge early enough to become oriented and informed of the steaming situation, such as ship’s surroundings, environment, ship’s course, position etc. before relieving the officer. During hours of darkness, the watch officer must allow sufficient time to adapt night vision.The relieving officer must read and understand the master’s order book; become familiar with the steaming plan, required course and speed changes, etc.The watch officer must not surrender the watch until assured that the relieving officer is physical capable and fully understand the steaming situation.4. There are potential dangers of sailing in heavy seas.a. The ship will be laboring heavily, shipping much water on deck frequently.b. The ship rolling and pitching violently, causing great deal big damages to the vessel and cargoes.The following preparatory work should be done.a. Check that all movable objects on deck and deadlights have been secured where necessary.b. Warn crew to check and secure objects below decks.c. Inform master and engine room.d. Monitor weather reports more frequently.e. Warn crew to avoid upper deck areas that are dangerous due to heavy seas.f. Keep listening watch on proper VHF channel.5. Narrow strait has its own characteristics:a. The navigable width is limited and the depth of water is changeable.b. Generally the channel is curved and narrow.c. The traffic density is high and the vessel’s maneuvering is difficult.The preparation for narrow strait navigation:a. Check vessel’s position.b. Evaluate the course line relative to central line of the strait.c. Evaluate the weather and sea conditions for danger.d. Determine the status of navigational aids and receive appropriate traffic navigational information from the relative authority.Keep sharp lookout and navigate with caution. Fixed vessel’s position more frequently. Pay attention to the intention of the vessels in vicinity. Make proper use of light and sound signals. Make proper use of VHF set.Chap 71. If you detect a fir act immediately as follows:a. call out “Fire”b. operate the nearest fire alarmc. inform a member of the crewd. telephone the bridgeAfter the fire has been extinguished, rope off the fire area and post a fire watch and check the fire area at intervals to prevent the fire re-ignition.2. Send out oil pollution procedures and all associated equipments to fight against the spillagea. Determine the source of spillage and how much is spilling.b. Determine the method to treat the spillage.c. Treat spill.d. Inform the pollution control.4. In order to re-float a vessel aground, the following methods can be tried:a. First determine what part of the vessel is aground.b. Take over side sounding.c. Prepare for de-ballasting or shifting of ballast to re-float the vessel.d. Re-arrange the cargo on board to re-float the vessel.e. Try to jettison some cargo to re-float the vessel.f. Obtain tidal and weather information to take the ride of tides.g. (2) Keep listening watch on channel 16 at all times and use dual-watch tolistening other frequency在16频能够全天的有人在驾驶台职守,使用双值守守听其他频道(3) Use channel 16 only tocontact and then change to another frequency;使用频道16仅仅建立联系,然后在换成另一频道。

(2)try sheering and record in navigation log试舵并记录在航海日志上(3) keep VHF contact for port station and report port be ready for leave.和港口保持在VHF联系并通知港口准备离港(4) have anchors clear and ready for use;锚清爽、随时可用。

(5)closecargo holds, ensure deck cargo are safety.关闭货舱,确保甲板货安全(6)the master notice chief engineer the ETD before 24 hours to leave船长提前24小时通知轮机长出航时间(7)securityinspectthoroughly. ensure no person unconberned staying onboard 彻底的安全检查,确保没有无关人员在船上1.检查助航仪器是否正常2.试舵并记录在航海日志上3.和港口保持VHF联系并通知准备好离港4.锚清爽,随时可用5.关闭货舱,确保甲板货安全6.船长提前24小时通知轮机长出航时间7.彻底的安全检查,确保没有无关人员在船上Describe the procedures of pilotage。

描述引航的程序(1)If the ship request a pilot should send the following information to the pilot station as early as possible:船如需要引航员,驾驶台应该及早向引航站发送以下信息(1)ETA or ETD )预计到港时间或预计离港时间(2)Ship’s name, call sign, ship’s agent;船名、呼号、船舶代理。

(3)Ship’s leng th, breath, speed, draft,。

船的::长度、宽、速度,吃水。

(4) pilot’s boarding time, boarding place;引航员登船时间和地点(2)The ship should get ready the pilot ladder, a heaving line, lights and a lifebuoy. Hoist flag G应该准备好,引航梯、撇揽灯光和一个救生圈。

悬挂G旗(3)The third officer and duty sailor are taking the pilot on board and ensure safety三副和指派水手负责接引航员上船并确保安全1.船舶如果需要引航员,要给引航站发送以下信息1.预计到离岗时间2.船名,呼号,船舶代理3.船的长,宽,船速,吃水4.引航员登船地点,时间2.应该准备好,引航梯、撇揽灯光和一个救生圈。

悬挂G旗3.三副和指派水手负责接引航员上船并确保安全Describe the procedures of carrying dangerous cargo on board.描述船上其它货物运输危险程序。

(1)The chief officer should obtain information of the dangerous cargo from the shipper. The information includes the following:大幅应该从托运人获得危险货物的信息。

信息包括如下:packing, classes and UN No. ;包装等级和编号。
