Body: Memos are usually used to give guidelines and instructions, keep people informed, seek information or offer support and give suggestions. The text itself is intended to use only inside the company and therefore the tone is not very formal.
The objective is the answer to some or all of the "W" questions a person might reasonably ask after having read the SUBJECT line of a memo.
Should one sentence not be enough to convey the objective, one or two more sentences can supply the background information necessary for the reader to comprehend the memo's purpose.

•Summary Segment
If your memo is longer than a page, you may want to include a separate summary segment. This segment provides a brief statement of the key recommendations you have reached. These will help your reader understand the key points of the memo immediately.

1、备忘录的概念备忘录是在双方会谈时,对一些问题达成的观点、意见、谅解及承诺进行摘要记录的应用文体。
2、备忘录的功能备忘录的功能在于使口头陈述书面化,其内容是对会谈中的具体问题加以详细说明或补充、通告、交涉,并据此提出论点或进行辩驳。
在涉外活动磋商过程中,为了随时检查,不致遗忘,双方可以把洽谈中的问题与对此问题的观点、见解进行摘要记录,在必要时用以提醒与提示对方注意某个问题,使洽谈顺利进行。
也可以在涉外业务洽谈时,经过初步的探询、讨论后,记载双方达成的谅解与承诺,以界定双方的责任,作为今后双方交易或合作的依据,或者作为进一步洽谈时的参考。
3、备忘录的种类备忘录通常有面交备忘录、送交备忘录、谅解备忘录等。
面交备忘录是会谈后直接交给对方或向对方当面宣读之后交给对方的备忘录。
送交备忘录则是在会谈后另行邮寄或送达对方的备忘录,可以直接行文,也可答复来文。
谅解备忘录是将双方的备忘录合在一起形成一份,并经双方签字,具有协议性质的备忘录。
4、例文导读【例文1】备忘录中国××公司××分公司(简称甲方)与××国××股份有限公司(简称乙方)的代表,于××××年×月×日在中国×市就兴办合资项目进行初步协商,双方交换了意见,达成了谅解,双方的承诺如下:一、依据双方的交谈,乙方同意就合资经营××项目进行投资,投资金额大约×××万美元。
