语鹅市安置阳光实验学校河南2016高考英语二轮阅读理解(基础)精练(1)【2016模拟题】阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。
People believed for a long time that the heart was the center of a person's emotions. That is why the word "heart" is used in so many expressions about emotional situations. One such expression is to "lose your heart" to someone. When that happens, you have fallen in love. But if the person who won your heart does not love you, then you are sure to have a "broken heart." In your pain and sadness, you may decide that the person you loved is "hard-hearted," and in fact, has a "heart of stone."You may decide to "pour out your heart" to a friend. Telling someone about your personal problems can often make you feel better. If your friend does not seem to understand how painful your broken heart is, you may ask her to "have a heart." You are asking your friend to show some sympathy for your situation. Your friend "has her heart in the right place" if she says she is sorry, and shows great concern for how you feel. Your friend may, however, warn you not to "wear your heart on your sleeve." In other words, do not let everyone see how lovesick you are. When your heart is on your sleeve you are showing your deepest emotions. If your friend says "my heart bleeds for you," she means the opposite. She is a cold-hearted person who does not really care about your situation. In the ever-popular motion picture, "The Wizard of Oz,"(绿野仙踪) the Tin Man seeks a heart. He wanted to feel the emotion of love, and was seeking help from the powerful Wizard of Oz to find a heart. The Cowardly Lion, in the same movie, did “have a heart”. But he lacked courage and wanted to ask the Wizard of Oz to give him some. You could say that the cowardly lion was "chicken-hearted." That is another way of describing someone who is not very brave. A chicken is not noted for its bravery. Thus, someone who is chicken-hearted does not have much courage. When you are frightened or concerned, your "heart is in your mouth." You might say, for example, that your heart was in your mouth when you asked a bank to lend you some money to pay for a new house.1.What is the main idea of the passage?A.The heart was the center of a person's emotions.B.There are many expressions about heart and what do they mean. C.We should l earn some expressions about “heart”.D.It is important to learn some expressions about “heart”2.How many expressions about “Heart” are mentioned in the passage?A.10B.8C.9D.113.If you hear one of your family members is hurt in a traffic accident, you will feel ________. A.To show that it is ever popular. 语鹅市安置阳光实验学校高考英语二轮阅读理解基础训练题10The US government has started a website, Admongo, to help children think critically(批判性地) about the advertising aimed at them. It claims to provide visitors with an “aducation” through games and other entertainment.A cartoon man dressed in old time pilot clothing greets visitors to Admongo. "Call me Haiz", he says upon arrival in a rocket ship that opens up with a crazy world inside it. Spacey dance music plays in the background as Haiz tells visitors that they need to learn about advertising. Its inventors say eight to twelve years old is the age kids develop their critical thinking abilities. Kids that age are also a big market for advertisers. The idea behind Admongo is to teach children three things: To identify the advertiser. To know what the advertiser is really saying. And to know what the advertisement is trying to get the child to do.Children learn these things through a video game. They create their own game character. They can choose different skin colors, hair styles, eye and mouth shapes. Then they begin a trip through ad-land, where there are ads on buses and billboards. The players have to find all the marketing in the neighborhood before they can move on to the next level. The Admongo game takes players inside a home, to the advertising studio and everywhere else ads can be found. It is a complete exploration of the world of marketing. One such area is food marketing. The Federal Trade Commission(FTC) says it is a big business. The FTC estimates that food, drink and fast-food restaurants spent more than one and a half billion dollars on advertising to young people in 2009.The FTC says children are important for three reasons. They buy products. They influence parents and caregivers to buy. And they are the future adult buyers of the products.A recent study says most advertising aimed at children is for foods of the lowest nutritional value. First Lady Michelle Obama has said she would like to see advertisers marketing healthy foods for children.【文章大意】可知本文讲述的是政府建立的一个网站,为了教育孩子们理解广告的真正内涵。

With his unique black mane (鬃毛)and impressive stature(身材),13-year-old Cecil was a popular tourist attraction at the 3.6million-square-acre Hwange National Park(万基国家公园) in Zimbabwe (津巴布韦).Cecil was head of a pride of lions that includes 12 cubs(幼崽), but the well-known lion was shot and killed in early July by American dentist Walter J. Macdonald hopes the death can inspire the public to take an interest in lion conservation. Macdonald says many of the lions tracked by the program have been shot and killed. “The background to this story is that there is a crisis for lions throughout much of Africa.” He says.African lion populations have fallen almost 60 percent over the past thirty decades, and as few as 32,000 of them remain in the wild, according to the International Fund for Animal Welfare(国际爱护动物基金会).“And as troubling as it is, the rarer these hunted animals become, the more hunter s are willing to pay to kill them,” said Jeff Flockedn, the fund’s North American regional director. In addition to excessive hunting, lions throughout Africa also continue to face threats that include conflicts with local farmers, loss of habitat and risk of traffic and railway collisions(碰撞).1. By the early 20th century, as the United States became an international power, its cultural self-identity (认同) became more complex. The United States was becomingmore diverse as immigrants streamed into the country, settling especially in America’s growing urban areas. At this time, America’s social diversity began to find significant expression in the arts and culture. American writers of German, Irish, Jewish, and Scandinavian ancestry began to find an audience, although some of the cultural elite (中坚分子) resisted the works, considering them crude and unrefined. Many of these writers focused on 20th-century city life and themes, such as poverty, efforts to assimilate (消化) into the United States, and family life in the new country. European influence now meant something very different than it once had: Artists changed the core of American experience by incorporating their various immigrant origins into its cultural vision. During the 1920s and 1930s, a host of African American poets and novelists added their voices to this new American vision. Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, and Countee Cullen, among others, gathered in New York City’s Harlem (黑人住宅区) district. They began to write about their unique experiences, creating a movement called the Harlem Renaissance.Visual artists of the early 20th century also began incorporating the many new sights and colors of the multiethnic (不同种族的) America visible in these new city settings. Painters associated with a group known as The Eight, such as Robert Henri and John Sloan, portrayed the picturesque sights of the city. Later painters and photographers focused on the city’s squalid (污秽的) aspects. Although nature remained a significant part of American cultural self-expression, as the paintings of Georgia O’Keeffe demonstrated, it was no longer at the heart of American culture. By the 1920s and 1930s few artists or writers considered nature the extraordinary basis of American cultural identity. In popular music too, the songs of many nations became American songs. Tin Pan Alley was full of immigrant talents who helped define American music, especially in the form of the Broadway musical. Some songwriters, such as Irving Berlin and George M. Cohan, used their music to help define American patriotic songs and holiday traditions. During the 1920s musical forms such as the blues and jazz began to dominate the rhythmsof American popular music. These forms had their roots in Africa as adapted in the American South and then in cities.1. The main theme of the painting in the early 20th century is .A. povertyB. experienceC. natureD. life2. Which of the following countries’ culture might have the least effect on American culture?A. Finland.B. India.C. South Africa.D. Irish.3. The following is true EXCEPT .A. Immigrants affected America’s social diversity and it can be found in the change of the arts and culture at that time.D. The paintings which were created by Robert Henri and John Sloan may be about the beautiful scenery of the city.4. What is some of the cultural elite’s attitude t owards the works written by the writers who came from Europe?A. Critical.B. Reserved.C. Positive.D. Objective.5.
