Damage ?Theseare reasonable causes for concern, but equally unlikely. As one swapper puts it ,“Nobody is going to fly across the ocean or drive 600 miles to come to steal your TV.Besides, at the same time they’re staying in your home, you are staying in their home.”Exchange sites recommend that swappers discuss such matters ahead of time. They mayfill out an agreement spelling out who shoulders which responsibilities if a problem arises. It does not matter if the agreement would hold up in court, but it does give the exchangers a little satisfaction.Generally, the biggest complaint among home exchangers has to do with different standards of cleanliness.Swappers are supposed to make sure their home is in order before they depart, but one person’s idea of “clean” maybe more forgiving than another’s.Some【高考链接】 My family were moving to the countryside and I had to make some ________ and learn to lead a different life there.A .allowanceB .accommodationC .adjustmentD .assessment【学生自主反思】( 精题选编,错题纠正,今日一得等)【培辅课】(时段:附培辅单)教师寄语:Don't be afraid of change, you may lose out on something good, but you might gain something even better.。

In most eases fear is a healthy reaction to a dangerous situation. But sometimes fear can be so extreme, so overwhelming that it interferes with normal living. That is what happened to me driving across the country last summer. I'd agreed to help my brother, Mac, move from the East Coast to California. He would drive a rental truck loaded with his belongings and I would follow him in his sedan, then fly hack. We figured it would be a simple trip, with tour or five motel stops along the way. Living and working in coastal Georgia for most of my life, I did not have a great deal of long distance driving experience, looking back on it today, 1 can see that I’d always felt a twinge of fear when driving over small bridges and along hilly highways. And as 1 was getting ready for the trip 1 had a vague concern about the steep mountain roads that lay ahead. But I thought I would get used to them.As we cross ed some high bridges near the Blue Ridge Mountains on the first leg of our trip, a kind of breathlessness gripped me, a sinking, rolling sensation in the pit of my stomach. I tended to veer (放出绳索) slightly away from the edge of the roadway and then dropped them off beyond. My knuckles (手指关节) whitened from my tense grip on the steering wheel. At the end of each bridge, a great rush of relief would come over me, only to be replaced in short order by fear of the next obstacle. When we stopped in Nashville the first night, I mentioned my feelings to Mac, who is the practical sort. "Oh, that's nothing," he said cheerfully. "Lots of people hate driving on mountain roads and high bridges. Just turn up the music on your radio and focus on that. Keep your mind occupied."65. Which is not the author's attitude towards fear?A. Fear can sometimes disturb your life.B. It is natural to feel fear in everyday life.C. In dangerous situations, fear may do good to your body.D. Whenever you feel fear, yon are likely to make a wrong decision.66. How did the author and his brother go to California?A. They rented a truck and drove it in turn.B. The author and his brother drove different vehicles.C. The author drove while his brother flew to California.D.The author drove a rented car" while his brother drove the truck.67. To the author the trip is _____.A. frighteningB. pleasantC. nervousD. exhausting68. Mac asked his brother to turn on the radio and famous on that in order to let him _____.A. keep using his brainsB. kill time during the long tripC. think of other thing s instead of fearD. enjoy the beautiful music along the wayD思考:若想把握作者写作的意图和文章的阅读对象,阅读时,该注意哪些?__________________________________________________________________Warning: reading too much Cinderella to your daughter may damage her emotional health in later life. A paper to be developed at the international congress of cognitive psychotherapy (认知心理疗法) in Gothenburg suggests a link between the attitudes of women abused (虐待) by their parents and early exposure to the wr ong sort of fairy tales. It says girls who are identified with Cinderella, Rapunzel and Beauty in Beauty and the Beast were more likely to stay in destructive relationships as adults.Susan Darker Smith, a psychotherapist at the University of Derby, developed the theory. She interviewed 67 female abused survivors and found that 61 put up with serial abuse because they believed they could change their partners with patience, composition and love. Hardly any of the women in a control group, who h ad not experience abuse, thought they could change their partners in this way.The same view was taken by male survivors who had been abused as children. These women and men said they would leave a relationship rather than put up with abuse from a partner. Ms. Darker Smith found the abused women were much more likely to identify with Cinderella and other submissi ve female characters in fairytales, who were later rescued by a stranger, prince or hero. Although most gifts heard the stories, damage appeared to be done to those who adopted the submissive characters as role models."They believe if their love is strong enough they can change their parents' behaviors," she said. Overexposure in children to stories that emphasize the transformational qualities of love may make women believe they can damage their partners. "For example, they might never have understood the obvious flaw (缺点) in the story of Hapunzel, who remained locked in a high tower until rescued by a knight on a white horse, who broke tire door down.”“The question," said Ms. Darker Smith, “is why she did not break the door down herself."69. The passage is especially intended for _____.A. parents with young daughtersB. girls who like reading fairy storiesC. girls who think they can change their partnersD. parents with grown-up daughters70. Cinderella, Rapuuzel and Beauty in Beauty and the Beast are similar in that _____.A. they all married some princesB. they all changed their partners with loveB. they were all abused by their partners D. they all put up with abuse71. Which of the following statements is true of the women in a control group?A. They don't believe in fairy tales.B. They don't believe in the transformational qualities of love.C. They have also experienced abuse.D. They survived abuse.72. With the last sentence of the passage, Ms. Darker Smith intends to _____.A. give a warningB. make a conclusionC. make a suggestionD. raise a question五书面表达----活学活用(方案四:作文训练在平时----敢于板书,接受修改,进步是必然!)题目:如何看待人生过程中的逆境(adversity),是怨天尤人,还是奋发自强?是自暴自弃,还是迎难而上?你的选择是什么?用英语将的思想或经历表达出来。

Li nk up 的其他词性,___晨诵文本【美文赏析】----第二课时Most Americans get what money they have from their work;that is ,they earn an income from wages or salaries. The riches t Americans, however, get most of their money from what they own—their stocks, bonds, real estate, and other forms of property,or wealth.Although there are few accurate statistics to go by,wealth in American society appears to be concentrated in very few hands.More than 20 percent of everything that can be privately owned is held by less than one percent of the adult population and more than 75 percent of all wealth is owned by 20 percent of American adults. The plain fact is that most Americans have no wealth at all aside from their homes, automobiles, and a small amount of savings.Income in the United States is not as highly concentrated as wealth. In 1917 the richest 10 percent of American families received 26 percent of all income, while the poorest 10 percent received 17 percent, mainly from Social Security and other government payments. The most striking aspect of income distribu tion is that it has not changed significantly since the end of World War Ⅱ.Although economic growth has roughly doubled real disposable(可自由使用的)family income(the money left after taxes and adjusted for inflation)over the last generation, the size of the shares given to the rich and the poor is about the same.By any measure economic inequality is great in the United States. The reality behind these statistics is that a large number of Americans are poor.In 1918,14 percent of the population was living below the federal government's poverty line, which at that time was an annual income of $9,287 for a nonfarm family of two adults and two children. In other words, about one out of seven Americans over 31 million people was officially considered unable to buy the basic necessities of food, clothes, and shelter. The suggested poverty line in 1981 would have been an income of about $11,200 fo r a family of four.By this relative definition, about 20 percent of the population or more than 45 million Americans are poor.[高考链接]-------—Is that the laundry? We saw the figure of a large Canada goose, very still, its wings folded tight to its sides, its feet frozen into the ice. Then from the dark skies, she saw a line of swans. They floated from the top of the sky downward and at last landed on the ice.My friend was on her feet now, with one hand against her mouth, unbelieving. As the swans surrounded the frozen goose, she feared that life it still had might be pecked(啄) out by those great swan bills. Instead, those bills began to work on the ice.The long necks were lifted and curved down, again and again. It went on for a long time.At last, the goose’s head was lifted. Its body was pulled. Then the goose was free and stood on the ice.And the swans stood in the air watching. Then,as if it had cried,“I cannot fly.”Four of the swans came down around it.Their powerful beaks chipped off the ice held in the feathers.Slowly, the goose spread its wings as far as they would go,and moved slowly into the sky. This is a true story.I just think of it in the bad moment, and from it comes only one hopeful question:If so for birds, why not for man?

Are you feeling blue?An American study suggests that being surrounded by happy friends and neighbors could have more of an effect on your happiness than money. That is the finding of researchers from Harvard University and the University of California at San Diego.Nicholas Christakis and James Fowler studied the emotional health of more than four thousand seven hundred people. They used information from the Framingham Heart Study. That study began sixty years ago in the American community of Framingham ,Massachusetts. It was started to learn more about the risks of heart attack and stroke. For the new study, the researchers examined the emotions of the men and women in the Framingham Heart Study. The information was gathered from 1983 to 2003.The researchers found that friends of happy people had a greater chance of being happy themselves. That means that happiness spreads,or has a contagious effect, among people. And,the smaller the physical distance between friends, the larger the effect they had on each other's happiness. For example,a person was twenty percent more likely to feel happy if his/her friend living within one and a half kilometers was also happy.Having a happy neighbor who lived next door increased an individual's chance of being happy by thirtyfour percent. The effects of friends' happiness lasted for up to a year.Another finding was that people who worked together or were married did not have as much of an effect on happiness levels as friends did.The researchers said this was often true among friends of the same sex.A report on the findings was published this month in the British Medical Journal.America's National Institute on Aging helped to pay for the study. Some researchers who were not involved with the study questioned its findings. They said the results could be disputed(争议) unless a separate study showed similar findings.【学生自主反思】(精题选编,错题纠正,今日一得等)【培辅课】(时段:附培辅单)CBABBAD。

In this age of the importance placed on human liberties, the idea of forcing someone to do something he does not want to do may receive condemnation. In my opinion, forcing should be resorted to only when all persuasion fails.
Forcing a child to brush his teeth is quite sound. That is if all else fails—educating him about tooth decay, using a carrot and stick approach and even buying him an electric toothbrush. It is very important that he brushes his teeth when he is a child.Children have to be taught what’s good and bad and be trained too.
In choosing a secondary school,a twelve year old may not have the maturity to
weigh the pros and cons involved. If the child does not want to study in the school of his parents’ choice,he may have to be persuaded.Otherwise the issue may be thrashed out and the parents firmly, but gently lay down the rule.Children do not have the experience of life and the foresight to make major decisions that affect their lives. It is important though that parents, should they force,do so carefully and sensitively.Children cannot do without their parents or guardians watching over them.
In school, teachers and principals are given the authority to make the students do what is to be done.A teacher expects submission to his or her commands. In detention classes, students are made to do unpleasant tasks as a punishment.
On the other hand, adults shouldn’t be forced to do things against their wishes. They are autonomous,no longer under their parents’control. They have been through much of life and have been trained by parents and teachers through childhood and adolescence. Now they are independent and know what they want and what they do not want. They should be guided and advised, not forced.
Thus, depending on the circumstances, children can be forced to do things which they prefer not to do.Adults,on the contrary, should not be.
