VA240 VAC95STEP 5 - Testing– Dimensions shown are typical.– The following testing procedure is only meant to serveas a verification of proper operating sequence.TROUBLESHOOTING Erratic operation of the control is the most common symptom that occurs.Erratic operation can be defined as pump and/or burner switches not switching at proper levels.Refer to the following list of items to check if the control is not operating properly.1.Float Ball is Crushed Crushed floats are typically caused by improper blow-down.Drain piping from blow-down valve to drain should be checked for proper pitch and the blow-down procedure followed when blowing down the control.Purchase and install a new float ball after investigating and correcting the problem.2.Float Ball is Filled with Water The seam weld on the float can sometimes deteriorate. This can be caused by the type of chemical treatment used in the boiler. While this is a rare occurrence, the chemical treatment supplier should be consulted to determine if a reaction could occur.Purchase and install a new float ball after investigating and correcting the problem.3.Float Arm Springs are Bent The pivot springs located on either side of the float rod should be flat and straight. If they become bent, the usual cause is mishandling of the unit during installation or improper blow-down.The control should never be picked up by the float ball or allowed to hang from the bowl by the float.Drain piping from blow-down valve to drain should be checked for proper pitch and the blow-down procedure followed when blowing down control.Purchase and install new control or head mechanism after investigating and correcting the problem.4.Switch Contact Springs Broken The contact springs can break if the electrical rating is exceeded.Purchase and install new switch assembly or head mechanism after investigating and correcting the problem.5.Switch Contact Springs Misaligned Misalignment of the contact arms is usually associated with damage to the control during shipment or installation.Purchase and install new switch assembly or head mechanism after investigating and correcting the problem.6.Internal (Wetted) Parts Dirty The internal parts can operate improperly if dirt, scale or rust is allowed to build. This condition can be a result of not blowing down the control as recommended and/or improper boiler water chemical treatment.Purchase and install new control or head mechanism after investigating and correcting the problem.6MAINTENANCESCHEDULE:Blow down control as follows when boiler is in operation.• Daily if operating pressure is above 15 psi.• Weekly if operating pressure is below 15 psi.•Remove head assembly and inspect water side components annually.Replace headassembly if any of the internal components areworn, corroded or damaged or if control no longeroperates properly.•Inspect the float chamber and equalizing piping annually.Remove all sediment and debris.Replace head mechanism every 5 years.More frequent replacement may be required whensevere conditions exist.Replacement parts are available from your local authorized McDonnell & Miller Distributor. The use of parts or components other than thosemanufactured by McDonnell & Miller will void allwarranties and may affect the units compliance withlistings or regulating agencies.BLOW DOWN PROCEDURE:down valves should be opened slowly. The piping needs to be warmed up and stagnant water in the drain piping needs to be pushed out.Suddenlyopening a blow down valve causes steam to con-dense,which can create water hammer.Damage to components can occur when water hammer occurs due to improper blow down piping. For these reasons,McDonnell & Miller recommends a dual valve blow-down system for each control.Blow down the control when the water in the boiler is at its normal level and the burner is on.NOTE:Refer to page 2 for switch operating points.•Open upper valve (#1)•Slowly open the lower valve (#2)•Water in the sight glass should lower.•As the water in the sight glass lowers, the pump should turn on.•As the water continues to lower in the sight glass, the burner should turn off.•Slowly close the lower valve (#2).•Close the upper valve (#1)• The water level in the sight glass should rise, first turning on the burner and then turning off the pump.NOTE:On manual reset models, the reset button will need to be pressed after the water level has been restored before the burner will operate.NOTEThe control may need to be inspected and cleanedmore frequently on systems where there is thepotential of excessive scale or sludge build-up.This includes systems:• With high raw water make-up • With no condensate return • With untreated boiler water • Where significant changes have been made to the boiler-water chemical treatment process • With oil in the boiler waterNOTE If this sequence of operation does not occur as described, immediately close all the valves, turn off the boiler and correct the problem.Inspection/cleaning of the float mechanism may be required to determine why the control was not working properly.Retest the controlafter the problem has been identified and corrected.7Xylem Inc.8200 N. MAXIM DG411 DG412 DG413 说明书
General DescriptionMaxim’s redesigned DG411/DG412/DG413 analog switches now feature low on-resistance matching between switches (3Ωmax) and guaranteed on-resis-tance flatness over the signal range (∆4Ωmax). These low on-resistance switches conduct equally well in either direction. They guarantee low charge injection,low power consumption, and an ESD tolerance of 2000V minimum per Method 3015.7. The new design offers lower off-leakage current over temperature (less than 5nA at +85°C).The DG411/DG412/DG413 are quad, single-pole/sin-gle-throw (SPST) analog switches. The DG411 is nor-mally closed (NC), and the DG412 is normally open (NO). The DG413 has two NC switches and two NO switches. Switching times are less than 150ns max for t ON and less than 100ns max for t OFF . These devices operate from a single +10V to +30V supply, or bipolar ±4.5V to ±20V supplies. Maxim’s improved DG411/DG412/DG413 are fabricated with a 44V silicon-gate process.________________________ApplicationsSample-and-Hold Circuits Communication Systems Test Equipment Battery-Operated Systems Heads-Up DisplaysPBX, PABXGuidance & Control Systems Audio Signal RoutingMilitary Radios______________________New Features♦Plug-In Upgrade for Industry-Standard DG411/DG412/DG413♦Improved R DS(ON)Match Between Channels (3Ωmax)♦Guaranteed R FLAT(ON)Over Signal Range (∆4Ω)♦Improved Charge Injection (10pC max)♦Improved Off-Leakage Current Over Temperature (<5nA at +85°C)♦Withstand Electrostatic Discharge (2000V min)per Method 3015.7__________________Existing Features♦Low R DS(ON)(35Ωmax)♦Single-Supply Operation +10V to +30V ♦Bipolar-Supply Operation ±4.5V to ±20V ♦Low Power Consumption (35µW max)♦Rail-to-Rail Signal Handling ♦TTL/CMOS-Logic CompatibleOrdering InformationDG411/DG412/DG413Improved, Quad,SPST Analog Switches________________________________________________________________Maxim Integrated Products 1_____________________Pin Configurations/Functional Diagrams/Truth Tables19-4728; Rev 5; 6/04*Contact factory for dice specifications.For pricing, delivery, and ordering information,please contact Maxim/Dallas Direct!at 1-888-629-4642, or visit Maxim’s website at .D G 411/D G 412/D G 413Improved, Quad,SPST Analog Switches 2_______________________________________________________________________________________ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM RATINGSELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS—Dual Supplies(V+ = 15V, V- = -15V, V L = 5V, GND = 0V, V INH = 2.4V, V INL = 0.8V, T A = T MIN to T MAX , unless otherwise noted.)Stresses beyond those listed under “Absolute Maximum Ratings” may cause permanent damage to the device. See Figure 6.Note 7:Leakage parameters I S(OFF), I D(OFF), and I D(ON)are 100% tested at the maximum-rated hot temperature and guaranteed by correlation at +25°C.DG411/DG412/DG413Improved, Quad,SPST Analog Switches_______________________________________________________________________________________560-20-1010ON-RESISTANCE vs. V D AND POWER-SUPPLY VOLTAGE40V D (V)r D S (O N ) (Ω)02020503010700-20-1010ON-RESISTANCE vs. V D ANDTEMPERATURE50V D (V)r D S (O N ) (Ω)0203010402060200515ON-RESISTANCE vs. V D AND TEMPERATURE (SINGLE SUPPLY)120V D (V)r D S (O N ) (Ω)102080401006014016020515ON-RESISTANCE vs. V D (SINGLE SUPPLY)70V D (V)r D S (O N ) (Ω)102050306040800.0001-55OFF-LEAKAGE CURRENTS vs.TEMPERATURE10TEMPERATURE (°C)O F F -L E A K A G E (n A )+25+1250.10.00110.011000.0001-55ON-LEAKAGE CURRENTS vs.TEMPERATURE10TEMPERATURE (°C)O N -L E A K A G E (n A )+25+1250.10.00110.01100__________________________________________Typical Operating Characteristics(T A = +25°C, unless otherwise noted.)-60-20CHARGE INJECTION vs.ANALOG VOLTAGE40V D (V)Q (p C )0200-4020-2060-15-10-5510150.0001-55SUPPLY CURRENT vs. TEMPERATURE10TEMPERATURE (°C)I +, I -, I L (µA )+25+1250.10.00110.01100D G 411/D G 412/D G 413Improved, Quad,SPST Analog Switches 6_________________________________________________________________________________________________Applications InformationOperation with Supply VoltagesOther Than 15VUsing supply voltages other than 15V will reduce the analog signal range. The DG411/DG412/DG413 switch-es operate with ±4.5V to ±20V bipolar supplies or with a +10V to +30V single supply; connect V- to 0V when operating with a single supply. Also, all device types can operate with unbalanced supplies such as +24V and -5V. V L must be connected to +5V to be TTL com-patible, or to V+ for CMOS-logic level inputs. The Typical Operating Characteristics graphs show typical on-resistance with ±15V, ±10V, and ±5V supplies.(Switching times increase by a factor of two or more for operation at ±5V.)Overvoltage ProtectionProper power-supply sequencing is recommended for all CMOS devices. Do not exceed the absolute maxi-mum ratings because stresses beyond the listed rat-ings may cause permanent damage to the devices.Always sequence V+ on first, followed by V L , V-, and logic inputs. If power-supply sequencing is not possi-ble, add two small, external signal diodes in series with supply pins for overvoltage protection (Figure 1).Adding diodes reduces the analog signal range to 1V below V+ and 1V below V-, without affecting low switch resistance and low leakage characteristics. Device operation is unchanged, and the difference between V+ and V- should not exceed +44V.Figure 1.
