不过说实在的，看了古龙的武侠小说之后，对于里面不少矛盾的地方并不认同，我一直认为如果我是那个幕后黑手，我为什么要手下留情，矛盾太多了，所以就没继续看了。
说远了，还是回到正题吧。
永别了武器是美国著名作家海明威的作品，这个作家我听说过，知道他得过__文学奖，还有不少有名的作品，如老人与海等等。
但是我没有看过他的任何作品，自己也没有刻意去寻找，为了更多的了解外面的世界，所以有必要看看英语写的'小说了。
不过完全的原版是看不懂的，至少目前是这样的。
但是这个世界上还有不少好同志会把原著改写，让更多的人能够理解阅读。
我看的这个英语小说就是一个改写本吧，里面没有多少我不认得的英文字。
大约只要认得3000英文字就可以很好的阅读这个小说了，所以我自认为自己英语的单词量应该大于这个数字吧，所以就拿这个小说来读了，不过里面还有很多固定用法，以及一些表达我是不明白的，不过不影响自己的理解，也就没什么大的影响了。
前段时间陆陆续续的看完，因为是一个短篇小说，也就100来页，很短，比我看的中国古典大部头要瘦身的多了。
这个小说是描写了一个美国人在第一次__时，加入意大利军队做了__救护队的汽车驾驶员，但是在救人的过程中爱上了一位来自苏格兰的女护士，但是随着战争的持续，民众不断的反战，士兵和警察到处抓这些意大利战争__，要反战，而男主人公作为一个救护队的小队长，自然要受到通缉，没办法只好带着他的女朋友逃到瑞士，在那里他们一起度过了一段快乐的生活。
随着女主人公的怀孕，难产导致大小不留而故事就如此结束了。
主要内容就大致如此吧，如果要知道的更加详细可以自己去看或者去贴吧看看也可以了。

A farewell to arms is a good example of the symbolism usage. Among the descriptions of the natural scenery is lot of deep symbolic significance, especially the description of the rain. It not only im plies heroine’s encounter but also adumbrates heroine's fate in this novel.In the following text we will discuss the symbolic significance of the image-- rainIn the novel, Hemingway endowed “rain” with special significance. The word “rain” is a clue through the whole novel natural descriptions. To the author’s point of view, “rain” indicate all the hardship, suffering and the beginning of the heroine’s tragic ending.At the beginning of the novel, the author gave us a bleak miserable picture of wizen leaves, full of dust, the pierce cold wind, and the freezing rain of winter. All of these implied a disastrous ending.The first presence of the “rain” is in the first chapter, with the sentence: “At the start of the winter came the permanent rain and with the rain came the cholera. But it was checked and in the end only seven thousand died of it in the army.” (page220) This is the first time of the author combining the “rain” with “death”. The disaster and misfortune are companied with the “permanent rain”.The rain cased the cholera and only this caused more than seven thousand deaths in the army. There had lost a lot of soldiers’ lives before the war beginning. We could imagine that when the real war began how many people would die? The number must be numerous! Here, the description of “rain” serves as a foil. In the following chapthers, the author mentioned a lot of “rain”. The “rain” have been a indispensable setting of the novel.When the troops moved forward, Henry and another three comrade-in-arms withdrawed difficultly in the heavy rain, Henry and Catherine fled to Switzerland in the clod rain, even when Catherine died from hemorrhages, the weather was still rainy. All the tragedy happened in the rain.In the ninteen chapter, there is a description of rain like this: “ The moon was supposed to rise but there was a mist over the town and it did not come up and in a littlewhile it started to drizzle and we came in. I read this novel in high school. At the beginning, the atmosphere is easy and funny. An American joined the army in Italy and became a lieutenant of an ambulance team. Although, he was in the frontier of war, to him it seemed that the war was far-faraway. He knew he would not die in this war because it had nothing to do with him. This war was more like a war in movies.At the beginning, he also took his relationship with Catherine as not serious as his attitude towards the war.He was traveling along the frontier in army clothes,drinking and making friends with others as usual. Sometimes I was even laughing while reading.
Even when the protagonist somehow got wounded in the trenches, he did not hate the war, because he still felt he would not die because of the war. During his recovery in Milan, he and Catherine fell in love. But also since then, this seemingly perfect love has had implied troubles. Then Catherine was pregnant.Because of responsibility or some unknown reasons, Fred was really in love with Catherine.God was so naughty that when he notices you take something serious he will send troubles to you.
After the recovery, the protagonist returned back to the frontier.it was then that he first noticed tiredness of war in people’s eyes.With the help of the German on enemy side, he tasted his first retreat. This was a retreat, adopting "Where there is life, there is hope" strategy. However, because a lot of accidentshappened during the retreat, the protagonist's heart was deeply hurt. His favorite driver, Aimo, was killedby an Italian at the time of withdrawal. He was killed by his own people.What kind of truth it is!But the protagonist seemed to see that necessityin war, a time of extreme crisis.it is also then that the protagonist had a new view and understanding towards war. It was no longer a game that he could leave himself alone.Until he was caught by an enemy to be shot dead, he was completely desperate towards war. Why would he be nobody dead in an unrelated war? He was just a common American who got aunclear mind and joined the army in Italian voluntarily. Why should he die in this unknown land, shot dead by strangers . So, he revolted and run away.
Days in Switzerland were as happy as those in Milan. They were far away from the war, waiting for the birth of their baby. But this time God acted much more than naughty. Both the baby and Catherine died.
Is this the cost of participating war? But he already paid for it. Why punish him again? He was sad, so did I. Finally, the protagonist tasted the cruelestpart of war.The war brought him the trauma that can never be cured.
Physical trauma suffered from war can be healed with drugs, equipment and time. But the mental trauma will last a lifetime. The war was over, but not the sorrow.
