一、The analysis of the teaching materials: the unit is from PEP(Go For It), grade7, Book 2, Unit 7 it’s raining. Throughout the study in junior high school, many units are related to the knowledge involved in this unit, such as Unit6 I'm watching TV, which provides the support of topic and grammar for this unit. At the same time, it also lays foundation for further learning, such as in grade8, book2, Unit 5 What were you doing when the rainstorm came? The topic of this unit is about the weather. The functions of the unit are describing the weather and describing what you are doing. Talking about weather is a common topic in the middle school entrance examination. So learning this unit well is of great importance for students. My selected teaching content is the first lesson of this unit, which is from 1a to 2c in section A; it’s a listening and speaking course which introduces Ss to describing the weather and people’s activities using the present progressive tense.二、The analysis of students: the students are from class 4, grade 7. Students in this class are active and curious and have strong abilities of imitation and memorizing. However, they lack the ability of putting knowledge into practice. Through the observation of their previous studies they have the problem in pronunciation and intonation. After the study of Unit 6 I’m Watching TV, students have some foundation of present progressive tense, so as to have the cognitive premise of learning this unit. Information about weather around the world can inspire their curiosity. Describing what is happening at present can arouse students' great interest. So the focus of this class is to take advantage of their characteristics, along with correcting their pronunciation and intonation, to improve their listening and speaking skills.三、teaching objectives1.Knowledge Objectives(1)Students should be master the words of weather.(2)Students should master the structure of present progressive tense.(3)Students should master the structure of asking the weather and giving answers.2.Ability Objectives(1)Students can improve their ability of catching the key information in listening.(2)Students can find useful information from pictures.(3)Students should be encouraged to talk about the weather and people’s activitiescorrectly and freely.3.Emotional objectives(1)To know about different culture and respect the differences.According to the content of the lesson, I have made the key and difficult points of this class.1.
