Unit8 The Ruler Is Long【内容来源】陕旅教育出版社三年级下册 Unit8【单元总目标】单元功能话题为描述物品的外形特征，如：The ruler is long. / The pencil is short. / The cars are big. / The tree is tall.通过学习形容调long，big, small, tall, short 来简单描述人或物的外形。
本单元要求教师在教学过程中注意反复借助已学知识，逐步帮助学生掌握知识并突破难点，让学生通过完成本单元的活动，能进一步运用语言知识进行交际，提高语言的综合运用能力。
本单元的教学分为4个课时。
第一课时以Part A的Let’s learn为主，通过观察和对比引出对形容词long, big, small, tall, short的学习，为后面描述物品的外形特征做铺垫；第二课时学习如何正确运用所学形容词简中描述物品的特征，功能结构以Part A中Let’s say部分的The ruler is long. / The pencil is short. / The cars are big. / The tree M is tall.为主要内容。
这部分既是对词汇的复习和巩固，也是对词汇的运用和练习，教师需要将词汇和语境相结合，多为学生提供语言交际的机会；第三课时以Part B 中的Let’s learn more为主，拓展学习运用所学唱描述物和人，提高学生内化语言、重组并输出语言的能力；第四课时为综合运用环节，教师在处理本单元剩余的环节中要让学生体验到学习语言和交流表达的快乐。
【单元具体目标】知识目标一、能听、说、读、写单词：long, big, small, tall, short, tree, grass。
二、能听懂、会说、会读、会用下列句型：The ruler is long.The pencil is short.The tree is tall.The cars are big.The bikes are small.情感目标一、引导学生注意观察了解人或物的不同特性。
