英语2考前辅导整理人:兰-08秋教管一、选词填空1、While I was waiting to enter university, I saw advertised in a local newspaper a teaching post at a school in a suburb of London about ten miles from where I lived. Being very short of money and wanting to do something useful, I applied, fearing as I did so, that without a degree and with no experience in teaching my chances of getting the job were slim.2、However, three days later a letter arrived, asking me to go to Croydon for an interview. It proved an awkward journey: a train to Croydon station; a ten-minute bus ride and then a walk of at least a quarter of a mile. As a result I arrived on a hot June morning too depressed to feel nervous.3、Now in the last month of my residency, sleeping was no longer a problem. There were still situations in which I couldn't be certain my decision had been the right one, but I had learned to accept this as a constant problem for a surgeon, one that could never be completely resolved--and I could live with it. So, once I had made a considered decision, I no longer dwelt on it. Reviewing it wasn't going to help and I knew that with my knowledge and experience, any decision I'd made was bound to be a sound one. It was a nice feeling.4、All that sleepless night I replayed the moment those black gloves came up to the car window. How long did the whole thing last? Three minutes, five, eight? The next time I might end up dead.5、And I'm sure there will be a next time. It can happen anywhere, anytime, to anyone. Security is an illusion; there is no safety in locks or in guns. It's the kind of story we think of as myth. But in the case of Lincoln, the story is true... unlike the story of George Washington and the cherry tree. Washington's first biographer inventedthe tale of little George saying to his father, "I cannot tell a lie. I did it with my ax. " What is important in both stories, however, is that honesty was seen as an important part of the American character.二、选择题Unit 1:1 Industrial cities such as Chicage and Detroit have severely Polluted the waters of the Great Lakes.2 The doctor‟s report indicated that her death was due to heart disease.3 Medical researchers reached the conclusio n long ago that smoking is a serious hazard to health.4 George Washington, the first President of the United States, is known as the Father of His Country.5 The fire that broke out in the plant during the night was still seen giving off a lot of smoke the next morning.6 They have invented a new type of washing machine.7 The movie we are going to see is said to be based on the life story of an American general.8 The fence along the middle of the road is intended to protect vehicles from crashing in to each other.9 Supporters of gun control have worked for many years to ban the sale of deadly handguns in America.10 My native town, which was originally rather small, has now been built into one of the biggest cities in the province.11 The twin towers of the World Trade Center stick up over Manhattan island in New York city.12 The speaker said something about the actors first and then proceeded to talk about the film.13 We had a long debate as to whether we should spend so much money on space technology.14 A plate dropped from her fingers and smashed /was1 The hostsmall number of guests who attended.2 Shouts of protest sprang up from the angry crowd.3 Many people have the bad habit of spending money on impulse.4 The tone of the teacher‟s voice was gentle but authoritative.5 By careful examination, the doctors hope to track down the source of the infection.6 The attack on Pearl Harbor on December7, 1941 was an unexpected event which brought America into World War2.7 The coat fits the boy perfectly now, but he will outgrow it in a year‟s time.8 The man‟s eyes widened with fear when he saw the robber‟s gun.9 He resumed his regular working hours shortly after he came out of hospital.10 New problems emerge/spring up when old ones are solved.11 Johnny‟s mouth watered at the sight of the big pudding.12 At the first light of dawn the warships made for the open sea.Unit 3:1 A man of humble origin ,Lincoln eventually became President of the United States through his own efforts.2 The floods are threatening most of the villages in the area.3 Many species of animals which once lived on the earth are no longer in existence.4 Once he realizes that it is his mistake, Jim never hesitates to admit and correct it.5 The custom of having one‟s marriage arranged by parents has disappeared in many parts of the world but continues in some Asian and African countries.6 History show that the United States as a nation owes a great deal to the Afro-Americans.7 Acting on the advice of his doctor, Mr. Park had his eye operated on right after he retired last week.8 There is no sense in leaving important decisions to inexperienced people.9 Noticing that my daughter was very shy, out hostess went out to make her feel at home.10 Mrs. Brown, who has recently been appointed general manager of out company, is one of the most capable women I have ever worked with.11 My friend Joe is an experienced doctor, He can be trusted to perform the delicate operations.12 Martin Luther King and Malcolm X were both leaders in Afro American‟s struggle for equal rights; the former a supporter of non-violent struggle, and the latter an advocate of revolution.13 I don‟t want to influence you. For each questions or statement there are 4 choices marked A), B), C) and D). You should make the correct choice and mark the corresponding letter on the paper.If you are a male and you are reading this, congratulations: you are a survivor. According to statistics. You are more than twice as likely to die of skin cancer as a woman, and nine times more likely to die of AIDS. Assuming you make it to the end of your natural term, about 78 years for men in Australia, you will die on average five years before a woman. There are many reasons for this typically, men take more risks than woman and are more likely to drink and smoke but perhaps more importantly, men don't go to the doctor. “Men aren't seeing doctors as often as they should,”says Dr.Gullotta,“This is particularly so for the over-40s, when diseases tend to strike.”Gullotta says a healthy man should visit the doctor every year or two. For those over 45. it should be at least once a year. Two months ago Gullotta saw a 50-year-old man who had delayed doing anything about his smoker's cough for a year. “When I finally saw him it had already spread and he has since died from lung cancer,”he says,“Earlier detection and treatment may not have cured him,but it would have prolonged this life.”According to a recent survey,95%of women aged between 15 and early 40s see a doctor once a year, compared to 70% of men in the same age group.“A lot of men think they are invincible(不可战胜的)”Gullotta says“They only come in when a friend drops dead on the golf course and they think.”Geez., if it could happen to him.Then there is the ostrich approach,“some men are scared of what might be there and would rather not know,”says Dr. Ross Cart mill.“Most men get their car serviced more regularly than they service their bodies,”Cartmill says.He believes most diseases that commonly affect men could be addressed by preventive check-ups. Regular check-ups for men would inevitably place strain on the public purse, Cartmill says.“But prevention is cheaper in the long run than having to treat the diseases. Besides, the ultimate cost is far greater: it is called premature death.”1.Why does the author congratulate his male readers at the beginning of the passage?A.They are more likely to survive serious diseases today.B.Their average life span has been considerably extended.C.They have lived long enough to read this article.D.They are sure to enjoy a longer and happier live.2. It could happen to me, too.B. I should avoid playing golf.C. I should consider myself lucky.D. It would be a big misfortune.4. What does Dr. Ross Cartmill mean by“the ostrich approach”(line 1 para.9)?C. Refusal to get medical treatment for fear of the pain involved.D. Unwillingness to find out about one's disease because of fear.5. What does Cartmill say about regular check-ups for men?A. They may increase public expenses.B. They will save money in the long run.C. Tap dancing certainly fits in this category. It is truly an American art, but it has been influenced by English and Irish dance steps as well as steps from Africa. Some historians argue that tap dancing was first done by slaves on Southern plantations in North America, and that originally steps were done wearing soft-soled shoes. Irish step dancing, which also involves intricate food patterns, contributed the movement of the free leg to one side and the swing of the elbows out ward. Wooden clog shoes were worn as tap dancing evolved, but for long time the steps were done flat-footed.Tap dancing developed into the form we recognize today in the early 20th century. Metal tapd were added to dance shoes, and a number of new techniques were perfected. One of the most important was the change from the flat-footed step to dancing on the balls of the feet. This is commonly attributed to dancer Bill Robinson. Another was the “cramp roll”, in which the dancer would rapidly move from the ball of the right foot to the ball of the left, and then to the heal of each foot. This separation of the steps into distinct areas of the foot, an innovation by dancer John Bubbles, allowed dancers to improvise even more new patterns. Slides across the floor and movements up and down stairs further enlivened tap. So did relaxed arm and shoulder movements. Challenges became a common part of dance routines, with dancers competing very hard to outperform each other with new and difficult steps. Many dancers excelled at tap and contributed to its development. Besides Bill Robinson and John Bubbles, well-known tappers have included Sammy Davis, Jr., Fred Astaire, Eleanor Powell, Gregory Hines, and Savion Glover.11. Mastering our language gives us a great degree of mastery over our lives and out destinies. It is important to use the language in the best way possible in order to dramatically improve our quality of life.Even the smallest of words can have the deepest effect on our subconscious mind, which is like a child, and it doesn’t really understand the difference between what really happens and what you imagine. It is eager to please and willing to carry out any commands that you give it----whether you do this knowingly or not is entirely up to you.“Try”It is a small word yet it has an amazing impact upon us. If someone says, “I’ll try to do that” you know that they are not going to be putting their whole heart into it, and may not even do it at all. How often do you use the owrd try when talking about the things that matter to you? Do you say “I’ll try to be more confident” or “I’ll try to do that” or “I’ll try to call”?Think about something that you would like to achieve, and say it to yourself in two different ways. Firstly say, “I’ll try to…”and notice how you feel. Next say, “I’ll do…” and see how you feel.The latter makes you feel better than the first one, doesn’t it? It gives you a sense of determination, a feeling that it will be done. Listen to the people around you and when they say they will try notice if it gets done or not. Eliminate the word try from your dictionary and see how your life improves.“Can’t”This is another small word with a big impact. It disempowers us, makes us feel weak and helpless, and damages our self-esteem. It limits our infinite abilities and stifles creativity. Rub it out from your internal dictionary and replace it with something that makes you feel great.Instead of saying you can’t, why not say something like “I choose…” or “I choose not to…”. Using words like this allows you to take back your power and to be in control of your life.Words may appear small and insignificant,, ye they can have a deep and lasting effect on us. Mastering your language gives you the power to live whatever life you desire. What words do you use a lot that disenpower you? Male a list of words you commonly use and then write next to them some alternatives you can use. Make these alternatives words that make feel fabulous, not only about yourself, but about life and what you are doing!( )/doc/87b0a258cd1755270722192e453610661ed95afd.html ing our language in the best way is significant for the improvement of our life.( )2.

* 最常考的非谓语动词:独立结构、动名词作某些动词的宾语、非谓语动词作定语和状语。
* 最常考的虚拟语气:与过去事实相反的虚拟语气的从句和主句。
* 最常考的定语从句:where 引导的定语从句、名词/代词+ of + which引导的定语从句。
* 名词性从句:what,whether 引导的主语或宾语从句、that 引导的同位语从句。
* 状语从句:now that,in that,in case,as,while 引导的状语从句。
