Competent and dynamic, I never feel passive while diving into the identifications of whether applications are valid and practical according to the new version of the criteria. With the expectation of distinguishing their own importance, some people leave the beaten track and file strange products with us now and then, for example, lantern that can be attached on your forehead, cubic walnuts, refrigerator made of straw and glue, perfume that nobody can bear to smell, and so on.Once, a man made a triangle helicopter out of stainless wires and string. He called us up and merrily claimed it was stable and convenient to use, and never out of order. I asked him to hang on, but this innocent man just rang off and set out to fly from his courtyard. I dialed his number in the directory trying to ring him back, but never got through.Merciful God blessing, an abrupt freezing rainfall made his powder wet. Luckily, the trouble was without any extension except that he crashed into a greengrocer’s making all the ripe fruits become messy jam. When people seized this crazy man with caution and sobered him by tapping his face, he complained about the bad weather instead of associating his failure with his unscientific design.

Certainly! Here are 10 English essays translated from Chinese, following American English conventions:1. My Favorite BookIn my eyes, the most captivating book I've ever readis "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. The novel is set in the 1930s and narrates the story of a young girl named Scout Finch, her brother Jem, and their father, the morally upright lawyer, Atticus Finch. The story deals with serious themes such as racial injustice and moral growth, which are presented through the innocent perspective of children. The book has taught me the importance of empathy and standing up for what is right, regardless of societal pressures.2. A Day in My LifeMy typical day starts with the alarm clock ringing at 6:30 AM. After a quick shower and breakfast, I head to school where I attend classes from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. In the afternoon, I usually spend time on extracurricular activities like the school band or sports. Homework and studying take up most of my evening, and I try to get to bed by 10:00 PM to ensure I'm well-rested for the next day.3. The Impact of Technology on EducationTechnology has revolutionized the way we learn. With the advent of online courses, students can now access a wealth of knowledge from the comfort of their homes. Educational apps and software have made learning more interactive and engaging. However, the over-reliance on technology also poses challenges, such as the potential for decreased human interaction and the digital divide that may exclude those without access to these resources.4. My Dream JobIf I could choose any job in the world, I would want to be an astronaut. The idea of exploring the cosmos, seeing the Earth from space, and contributing to scientific research excites me. I understand that the journey to becoming an astronaut is rigorous, involving extensive training and a strong background in science and engineering. But the opportunity to push the boundaries of human knowledge and experience makes it all worthwhile.5. The Environment and MeI am deeply concerned about the environment. I believe that each individual has a role to play in protecting our planet. In my daily life, I try to minimize waste, recycle, and use public transportation whenever possible. I also participate in local clean-up initiatives and advocate for environmental awareness in my community.6. A Memorable TripThe most memorable trip I have ever taken was to Yellowstone National Park. The breathtaking geysers, hot springs, and diverse wildlife were a feast for the eyes. Hiking the park's trails, I felt a deep connection with nature and a renewed appreciation for the beauty andfragility of our natural world.7. The Importance of SportsSports play a crucial role in my life. They not only keep me physically fit but also teach me valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Participating in sports has also helped me build lasting friendships and provided a healthy outlet for stress.8. My Favorite HolidayThanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it brings family and friends together. I love the tradition of sharing a meal and expressing gratitude for the good things in life. It's a time to reflect on the past year and look forward to the coming one with hope and optimism.9. A Person I AdmireAmong the many people I admire, Malala Yousafzai stands out. She is a brave advocate for education and women's rights. Despite facing adversity, Malala has shown incredible courage and determination. Her story inspires me to stand up for what I believe in and to work towards making the world a better place.10. The Power of KindnessKindness has the power to change lives. A simple act of kindness can brighten someone's day and even change their perspective. I try to practice kindness in my interactions with others, whether it's through a warm greeting, a helping hand, or a listening ear. I believe that a kind world is a better world. These essays are crafted to reflect a variety of topics that might be found in English language classes, from personal narratives to discussions on societal issues.。

We can freely think of things that would do our lives more good than harm. We hope these things will happen in our lives some day.
Dreaming is free. Each of us has our own dreams. Also, the way we deal with things in our dreams shows us who we can really be in real life. We tend to act based on what kinds of dreams we have, but we also have the freedom to make those dreams come true.

英译汉练习短文6篇·Passage 1Satiric Literature1Perhaps the most striking quality of satiric literature is its freshness, its originality of perspective. Satire rarely offers original ideas. Instead, it presents the familiar in a new form. Satirists do not offer the world new philosophies. What they do is look at familiar conditions from a perspective that makes these conditions seem foolish, harmful, or affected. Satire jars us out of complacence into a pleasantly shocked realization that many of the values we unquestioningly accept are false. Don Quixote makes chivalry seem absurd; Brave New World ridicules the pretensions of science; A Modest Proposal dramatizes starvation by advocating cannibalism. None of these ideas is original. Chivalry was suspected before Cervantes2, humanists objected to the claims of pure science before Aldous Huxley3, and people were aware of famine before Swift4. It was not the originality of the idea that made these satires popular. It was the manner of expression, the satiric method, that made them interesting and entertaining. Satires are read because they are aesthetically satisfying works of art, not because they aremorally wholesome or ethically instructive. They are stimulating and refreshing because with commonsense briskness5 they brush away illusions and secondhand opinions6. With spontaneous irreverence, satire rearranges perspectives, scrambles familiar objects into incongruous juxtaposition, and speaks in a personal idiom instead of abstract platitude.Satire exists because there is need for it. It has lived because readers appreciate a refreshing stimulus, an irreverent reminder that they live in a world of platitudinous thinking, cheap moralizing7, and foolish philosophy. Satire serves to prod people into an awareness of truth, though rarely to any action on behalf of truth. Satire tends to remind people that much of what they see, hear, and read in popular media is sanctimonious, sentimental, and only partially true. Life resembles in only a slight degree the popular image of it. Soldiers rarely hold the ideals that movies attribute to them, not do ordinary citizens devote their lives to unselfish service of humanity. Intelligent people know these things but tend to forget them when they do not hear them expressed8.Notes1.
3.Aldous Huxley:
5.briskness:brisk意为keen or sharp in speech or manner。
6.secondhand opinions:
8.when they do not hear them expressed:当直译不方便时,我们可用视点转移法:但是当周围人不谈起时Key讽刺文学或许讽刺文学最突出的特点是它耳目一新、视角独创。
Passage 2American Folk ArtWhat we today call American folk art was, art of, by, and for ordinary, everyday1 “folks”who, with increasing prosperity and leisure, created a market for art of all kinds, and especially for portraits. Citizens of prosperous, essentially middle-class republics—whether ancient Romans, seventeenth-century Dutch burghers, or nineteenth-century Americans—have always shown a marked taste for portraiture. Starting in the late eighteenth century, the United States contained increasing number of such people, and of the artists who could meet their demands. The earliest American folk art portraits come, not surprisingly, from New England —especially Connecticut and Massachusetts—for this was a wealthy and populous region and the center of a strong craft tradition. Within a few decades afterthe signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, the population was pushing westward, and the portrait painters could be found at work in western New York, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, and Missouri. Midway through its first century2 as a nation, the United States’ population had increased roughly five times, and eleven new states had been added to original thirteen. During these years, the demand for portraits grew and grew, eventually to be satisfied by camera. In 1839 the daguerreotype was introduced to America, ushering in the age of photography, and within a generation the new invention put an end to the popularity of painted portraits. Once again an original portrait became a luxury, commissioned by the wealthy and executed by the professional. But in the heyday of portrait painting—from the late eighteenth century until the 1850’s —anyone with a modicum of artistic ability could become a limner, as such a portraitist3 was called. Local craftspeople—sign, coach, and house painters —began to paint portraits as a profitable sideline; sometimes a talented man or woman who began by sketching family members gained a local reputation and was besieged with requests for portraits; artists found it worth their while to pack their paints, canvasses, and brushes and to travel the countryside, often combining house decorating with portrait painting.Noteseveryday: 意为commonplace, ordinarymidway through its first century: 美国独立后50年间portraitist:译为“画师”,以和前面的limner(画家)相区别。
