Abstract—Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) systems are considered as sophisticated alternatives for modern day wired power transmission. Resonance based wireless power delivery is an efficient technique to transfer power over a relatively long distance. This paper presents a summary of a two-coil wireless power transfer system with the design theory, detailed formulations and simulation results using the coupled mode theory (CMT). Further by using the same theory, it explains the four-coil wireless power transfer system and its comparison with the two-coil wireless transfer power system. A four-coil energy transfer system can be optimized to provide maximum efficiency at a given operating distance. Design steps to obtain an efficient power transfer system are presented and a design example is provided. Further, the concept of relay is described and how relay effect can allow more distant and flexible energy transmission is shown.

摘要——无线电源传输(WPT)系统被认为是复杂的现代有线输电的替代品。基于共振无线电力传输技术在一个相对较长的距离里能有效的传输电力。本文总结了双线圈的无线电力传输系统的设计理论, 并利用耦合模式理论(CMT)得到详细的方法和仿真结果。利用该理论也解释了双线圈无线电力传输系统与四线圈无线传输电力系统。四线圈电力传输系统可以在给定的操作距离里优化并提供最高的效率,并提出了有效的功率传输系统的设计步骤和设计实例。此外,对中继器的概念进行了描述,并展示了如何利用中继更灵活和更遥远的传输电力。

1. INTRODUCTION

Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) is the propagation of electrical energy from a power source to an electrical load without the use of interconnecting wires or physical medium. Wireless power transfer is useful in cases where interconnecting wires are difficult, hazardous or non-existent. Wireless power transfer is becoming popular for induction heating, charging of consumer electronics (electric toothbrush), biomedical implants, radio frequency identification (RFID), contact lenses smart card and even for transmission of electrical energy from space to earth. In recent years the wireless power transfer (WPT) technologies have been the growing hot topic for many researchers. A great demand exists for developing efficient wireless power transfer methods to reduce the dependency on batteries. Wireless power offers the possibility of connector free electronic devices which improve both size and reliability. Nikola Tesla, a prominent inventor and scientist at the turn of 20th century, developed a system that could transport large amounts of power across long distances without any carrier medium. Since then there has been tremendous growth in the Wireless power technology.

1.引言

无线电力传输(WPT)是指电力从电源到电力负载而不使用连接的电线或物理介质进行传输。无线电力传输是在互连线路困难、危险或无法连接的情况下非常有用。无线电力传输在感应加热、充电的消费类电子产品(电动牙刷)、生物医学植入物、无线电频率识别(RFID)、隐形眼镜智能卡等领域逐渐流行,甚至从太空向地球传输电力这一方面也有应用。近年来无线电力传输(WPT)技术已经成众多研究者的热门话题。人们对发展高效的无线功率传输方法,以减少对电池的依赖性有很大的需求。无线电源对连接器的电子装置提高其尺寸和可靠性提供了的可能性。尼古拉·特斯拉,一个20世纪杰出的发明家和科学家,他开发出一种可以跨长距离运输大量电力而不需任何载体或介质的系统。从那时起,无线电源技术有了巨大的发展。

WPT depends upon 3 main principles for transferring power which can be listed as viz.
