1 经贸英语的特点1.1 用词准确与普通英语不同的是,经贸英语具有其运用领域所赋予它的带有行业特征的一些特点。
它在用词方面力求准确無误,以避免可能产生的误解。
经贸英语的词汇一般选用那些词义相对单一而稳定的词来替代那些词义丰富灵活的词。
例:我们同意开即期信用证支付所购货物。
We are agreeable to opening sight L/C to cover our purchases.句中的cover和purchase都是正式用词,cover是支付的意思;purchase是购买的意思。
一般较正式、大规模的商业性购买都用purchase这个词,而不用buy这个词,buy较多的指日常少量购买。
1.2 运用专业术语经贸英语专业性强的特点导致专业术语的大量使用。
例:保险公司签发的保险单或保险凭证,按发票价值110%将货物投保发运地点至目的港仓库的海上风险、火险、战争险和中国人民保险公司货物保险条例的综合险,无免赔额。
