生生的道德之家:论《周易》的自然观

2023第11期·总第601期近代以来,生态危机席卷全球,许多学者认为在现代科技和现代工业背后的人类中心主义和机械自然观是造成生态危机的思想原因,他们开始探索非西方尤其是印度和中国的思想传统中具有生态价值的自然观。

正如纳什(Roderick Frazier Nash )指出的,“东方的古老思想与生态学的新观念颇相契合。

在这两种思想体系中,人与大自然之间的生物学鸿沟和道德鸿沟都荡然无存”。

〔1〕在这一背景下,《周易》作为中国古代自然哲学的经典文献,受到了学术界的关注和研究。

这些研究通常认为《周易》突出表现了有机整体性的自然观和天人合一思想。

〔2〕在此之外,本文试图从自然的生成、自然的秩序和自然的意义三个维度,系统梳理《周易》自然观,发掘《周易》的生态价值。

一、生生:万物生成之道西方哲学将“究竟为什么存在者存在而无反倒不在”视为形而上学的第一问题,〔3〕因此,对自然起源的探讨走向对造物主的设想。

但是中国哲学并不重视对造物主的猜测。

牟复礼(Frederick W.Mote )认为,“中国没有创世的神话,这在所有民族中,不论是古代的还是现代的,原始的还是开化的,中国人是唯一的。

这意味着中国人认为世界和人类不是被创造出来的,而这正是一个本然自生(spontaneously self-generating life )的宇宙的特征,这个宇宙没有造物主、上帝、终极因、绝对超越的意志、等等。

”〔4〕这一发现是非常独到的。

《周易》自然观不是神创论,而是生成论的,其核心概念是“生生”,所谓“生生之谓易”(《系辞上》)。

在自然的生成上,《周易》主张天地万物自然而然地生生不息,强调生生的顺成性、反生性、交互性、开放性和时机性。

01廖名春《周易经传十五讲》廖名春为清华大学教授,师从易学大师金景芳,同时也是马王堆《周易》研究领域的权威学者。

此书为《名家通识讲座书系》之一,是北大发起,十余所高校和科研单位协作编写的一套大型多学科普及读物。

此书分十五讲,能够在较少的篇幅内讲清楚《周易》这门学科的通识,可为读《周易》之入门。

02朱伯崑[kūn]《易学基础教程》本书由原北京大学教授、著名易学泰斗、国际易学联合会会长、东方国际易学研究院院长朱伯篦先生主编,多位易学专家学者共同撰写。

03黄寿祺、张善文《周易译注》黄寿祺教授,早年游学北平中国大学国学系,师事曾国藩再传弟子尚秉和及章太炎高足吴检斋(承仕)等著名学者。

返闽后,先后执教多所高校,曾任福建师范大学教授、副校长,著名易学专家。

张善文,师从黄寿祺,国学功底深厚。

福建师范大学易学研究所所长、文学院教授、博士生导师、中国古典文献学博士点带头人。

此书参考了包括了汉代以来的主要易学代表作,将《周易》译成汉语,并加以详细的注释、解说。

对《周易》的历史、读易的方法,对《易经》六十四卦卦爻辞的注解都是经过了广泛对比和研究,而得出的较为适中的方案,严谨规范,贯穿了作者多年来研究《周易》的见解。

在注解方面,引用了很多前人名家的注解,有助于帮助一般的读者比较容易地读懂《周易》。

曾言:“岂可只以今之《易》书为易乎?”①又说: “易是个 甚? 易 又 不 只 是 这 一 部 书,是 易 之 道 也。”②在此,程颢对于“‘易’是什么”这一问题 作出 了 自 己 的 回 答。 他 鲜 明 地 指 出,理 解 “易”,不能仅仅执着于《易》书本身;“易”这一 关键词,实 质 所 指 向 的 是 “易 之 道 ”;真 正 理 解 “易”的内涵,在于体认“易之道”;而“易之道” 并非仅存在于《易》书之中,更是原本就存在于 人们所置身的现实世界中,圣人正是于现实世 界中体认到它,才创作出《易》这部书以将其揭 示出来。“易”在万物生意中,万物生意所豁显 的就是鲜活的“易之道”,这成了他的易学基本 观点。
“化育”。《易传》于此处则点醒,《周易》之“变 易”并不 是 漫 无 方 向 和 秩 序 的 混 乱 变 化,也 不 是单向度趋向静止或者走向消亡,而是一种生 而又生、日新常新的生生不息、繁衍化育。正因 如此,天地造化而成的世界,是始终保持生生日 新之化的世界。依程颢之见,“生生之谓易”揭 示了天之所以为道,天以生为道,天道就是生生 之道,作《易》的圣人所揭示的“易之道”亦即是 生生之道。生生之道乃通过现实世界中万物的 生生流转不息与展现生机生意得以实现,故而 欲明晓“易之道”,首先要着眼于万物之生意。
一、“易”在万物生意中
