本课的新单词为：pet, turtle, parrot, dog, cat, goldfish, monkey, rabbit, chicken, tail, smart, cute。
本课学生曾经在一至四册感知过的单词有：brown2．在这些单词中学生已经熟悉的单词有五个：dog, cat, monkey, rabbit, chicken．宠物新词的学习对学生来讲不会太难，难点在于对“smart”和“cute”单词的理解。
3．在这里“smart”的意思为聪明的、伶俐的、灵敏的；“cute”的意思为漂亮的、可爱的，比“pretty”更常用。
这两个词也可以用来形容人，如：a cute baby, a smart salesman．4．学生通过学习歌谣感知有关宠物的单词和本课的新语句：What pet do you have?B Ask and answer．1．本部分为一个做和说的活动。

第二层次在学习第一层次内容的基础上，适量扩展话语、平行学科知识和双向文化等内容。
本课是《新起点英语》第五册第25课My Peto教学的第一个内容是学习8 个关于宠物的单词：chicken, rabbit, cat, turtle, goldfish, parrot, dog, monkeyo其中有些简单的单词，如：cat, dog, rabbit等，都是在一、二年级已经学习过的。
教学的第二个内容是本课的重点句型"what pet do you have? I have a ..."以及扩充的句型"what's its name? It's name is ...本次课的授课对象是三年级学生，学生仍然具备低年级学生的特点，活泼好动，喜欢表现，同时也具备一定的英语听说能力。
因此，我在设计课堂教学活动的时候，一切从学生出发，以学生为主体。
我在本课教学中，为学生创设了一个情境，为学生准备了一个宠物商店的特定情境，让学生在情境下学习，这样更有利于学生对所学内容的理解和掌握，同时在很大程度上能够调动起学生的积极性。
课堂活动丰富多彩，如Whafs missing game＞传宠物卡片游戏、情景对话，让每个学生都参与体验，每个人都感受到了学习英语的乐趣，体验到了成功的快乐。
在教法上主要以教师为主导，学生为主体，采用引导式教学方法，学生自主学习的学习方式，层层递进的教学方式，引导学生由浅入深的进行学习操练。
