Because we have a lot of class students are from the south, so understanding of southerners had, both in life habits and diet culture differences, so try to understand these differences will be better and the south classmates to get along with, I think the concrete from the following several aspects to introduce the north-south differences, so more conducive to better learning in the future. The north and the south people living habits differencesSoutherners meters northerners eat noodles, because of the high rice yield southern moisture, dry north high yield of wheat. Southerners like to drink the northern people like drinking, because the north cold drink can keep out the cold. Southerners like cooking while northerners like big eat meat, because more abundant cuisine and the north south animal husbandry developed.1, to eat. The north is given priority to with pasta, southerners is given priority to with rice. Northerners like stew, southerners like delicate dishes. 2, wear. The north winter cotton-padded clothes to wear, the four seasons clothes are different, so the girl's wardrobe full; Southerners are not, like Kunming and other places, the four seasons clothes don't have to change. 3, to live in. Northerners live, pay attention to keep warm the cold south focuses on a cool, ventilated. 4, line. Northerners with land is given priority to, more southern waterways are clear. The most obvious is the language is different, different mouth will speak, the so-called "talked different dialects", however, the southerners and northerners dialogue should is a kind of humor. 南北方饮食的差异作文英语

The culinary landscape of China is as diverse as its geography and climate, with the countrys vast expanse giving rise to a myriad of regional cuisines.Among these, the most notable differences are found between the northern and southern parts of the country, where the distinct tastes, ingredients, and cooking methods reflect the unique characteristics of each region. In the north, where winters are harsh and the land is often fertile, the cuisine is hearty and robust. The staple food is wheatbased, with a variety of noodles, dumplings, and breads that are integral to the daily diet. For instance, the northerners love for dumplings,or jiaozi,is wellknown. These are typically filled with meat and vegetables and are enjoyed during special occasions, such as the Chinese New Year. The dumplings symbolize wealth and prosperity,as their shape resembles ancient Chinese gold ingots. The northern cooking style tends to be bolder, with a preference for strong flavors and heavier use of oil and salt.Dishes like Peking duck from Beijing, known for its crispy skin and succulent meat, are marinated and often served with pancakes, spring onions, and sweet bean sauce, offering a delightful combination of textures and tastes.Another example is Mongolian hot pot, which is a communal dining experience where diners cook thinly sliced meats and vegetables in a shared pot of boiling broth. In contrast, the southern regions, with their abundant rice paddies and milder climates, have developed a cuisine that is lighter and more refined. Rice is the staple food here, and it is prepared in countless ways, fromsimple steamed rice to elaborate rice dishes like fried rice and rice noodles. The southern Chinese have a deep appreciation for the natural flavors of their ingredients, and their cooking techniques often aim to enhance these flavors without overpowering them.A quintessential southern dish is XO sauce,a luxurious condiment made from dried seafood, chili peppers, and other aromatic ingredients. It is a testament to the southerners penchant for using highquality ingredients to create complex flavors.Another example is dim sum,a style of cuisine from Guangdong province that includes a variety of small, bitesized dishes served in steamer baskets or on small plates.Dim sum is enjoyed during leisurely meals with family and friends, and it showcases the southern Chinese culinary philosophy of balance and harmony. The southern cuisine also places a strong emphasis on the presentation of food.Dishes are often arranged artfully, with attention to color, shape, and garnish. This aesthetic approach to food preparation is evident in dishes like Mapo Tofu,a Sichuan specialty that combines soft tofu with a spicy beanbased sauce,or Sweet and Sour Pork,a Cantonese dish known for its vibrant colors and contrasting flavors. The differences between northern and southern Chinese cuisines are not just a matter of taste and ingredients they also reflect the cultural and historical contexts of each region. The north, with its long history of nomadic and agricultural societies, has developed a cuisine that is suited to the harsh winters and the need for sustenance. The south, with its rich trading history and access to a variety of fresh produce, has cultivated acuisine that is sophisticated and diverse. Moreover, the dietary habits of each region are also influenced by local agricultural practices and the availability of certain ingredients. For example, the abundance of seafood in coastal southern areas has led to a greater emphasis on fish and shellfish in southern dishes, while the availability of wheat in the north has shaped the prevalence of wheatbased foods. In conclusion, the culinary differences between northern and southern China are a fascinating reflection of the countrys diverse landscapes, histories, and cultures. From the hearty and robust flavors of the north to the delicate and refined tastes of the south,Chinese cuisine offers a rich tapestry of flavors and textures that continue to delight and intrigue food lovers around the world.。
Culture shock 文化冲突英语交流演讲稿

Culture shock is ubiquitous, not only between different countries, but also within the same country.Let me share with you some examples of what I have experienced and understood.First of all, I have some personal experiences. I want to say what impressed me the most about Wuhan. I think it should be the bus driver in Wuhan. Here, bus drivers rarely show courtesy to pedestrians. Even if you are two meters away from him, he will sound the horn to remind you to leave mand wait. Wuhan bus drivers even boarded hot searches on Weibo for a while.Another thing is about the difference in diet between the North and the South. Before I went to university, I didn’t know that I should eat dumplings on the winter solstice. After I was in college, I learned that I should eat dumplings on the winter solstice when I got along with some northerners in the school. This is a very novel experience. In addition, in the process of reading, I also learned some differences at home and abroad. Here are two examples. The first one is individualism and collectivism. Western culture is based on individualism rather than on collectivism. For instance, in the US, they always talk about individual rights, instead of placing the whole society above your own self. This is clearly different in China where a country, society or family are placed above yourself. The other is about diet. In China, we prefer noodles, rice, dumplings as the staple food. We like cooking a lot of delicious dishes, then we set up the tables, put the dishes on the tables, sit together, and taste the dishes together, we don’t eat with individual plates, when we eating ,we like chatting and laughing, we think it’s warm and happy to eat this way; But in west countries, people like eating hamburgers, chips, pizza, as their staple food, they eat them with vegetable salad, they eat with drinking (water or juice), and they eat with separate plates. In China, we become full up when we finish all the food, then we don’t eat anything, but in west countries, people eat desserts after they finish their meals. We know that different living habits and different cultural backgrounds will bring a lot of cultural shock, so how should we deal with it?First of all, before we arrive at an unfamiliar city, we must learn about the local cultural background, food, transportation, customs and other information in advance. This will help reduce the unaccustomed and psychological gaps when newcomers arrive. Then take the initiative to communicate with the locals, just ask if you don’t understand, and try to overcome shyness and restraint. Believe it, the locals will help you.The second is to try to integrate into the local circle of interest. For example, if you have hobbies such as football, basketball, music, dancing, photography, painting, etc., there are also a lot of like-minded friends in the local area! Using the same hobbies as an opportunity to make more friends to integrate into the local area will always let you find a sense of belonging.Of course, if you are really hit by Culture Shock, don't be frustrated or afraid. First, you must face it with an optimistic attitude! After all, studying and living in the local area is not overnight, you have to get used to it! At this time, find good friends to talk to, communicate and resolve troubles together! In fact, we will encounter big and small problems at all stages of life. If we communicate and encourage each other, our mood will naturallybe much better. Finally, don’t be afraid when encountering Culture Shock. Tell the people around you about your feelings and stress. It will be really help.。

The diet of the North and the South in China
Abstract
Referring to the differences of the north and south, we will first think of that the southern staple food is rice and northern food is flour. The staple food’s differences cause the entire diet and eating differences. Now, I will introduce the diet differences between the north and south. I think knowing the reasons of those differences is very important. Because different diet shows different culture. There are some students coming from south and some coming from north. In order to get along well with each other, I think learning the diet culture’s differences can be a good idea.
II.Body
In eating, north and south both sides each holds different opinions. Southerners like delicious rice, but northerners like delicious noodles.
From drinking view: Northerners can drink more than southerners and they use bowl to drink, big mouth and bite, talking loudly. Southern relatively fine.
Why would cause that?
Because people plant rice in the south of China while people plant wheat in the north of China. From the point of food quantity, the southern is small and exquisite but the north is thick and rich. There is most number of Chinese cabbage, or greenhouse vegetables in winter in south, but north is relatively less. Especially in the countryside it might be a big difference.
All in all, the dietary differences generally are caused by geographical features and different regional culture. These are what I want to say.
