How to develop good habits
Since we were born, we have been being told over and over again: “We are supposed to develop good habits, which are good for all our life”. But even when I grow up, I have been still wondering: “What are habits? How should we give a clear definition of good habits and bad habits? How can we develop good habits and get rid of the bad ones?”
What are habits? — Habits are a kind of way that we live, learn, and work since we were young. They are everywhere, and are having an amazingly strong effect on us (mentally and physically) all the time. They are so stubborn and powerful that some people even say: “Habits decide destiny”. Believe it or not, personally I think it’s kind of true.
What are good habits and bad habits? — Good habits are just like close friends and good teachers, with whom we can live a better life. Every day good habits “tell” us when we should get up in the morning, when and how we should learn and even how we can make everything we are doing easier and simpler, etc. However, bad habits are just what we call barriers (or troublemakers) along our way to the success we are chasing, which are unpleasant and sometimes even mess up our life.
How can we develop good habits and get rid of the bad ones? — As we all know, it is difficult to develop good habits and even more difficult to do away with the bad ones. Now that it is not easy to get rid of the bad habits, whether can we develop some good ones to replace the bad ones? It is reported that it takes three months to develop good habits, of which the first month is the most important. We should remember: Well begun, half done. And once we decide to do it, we wouldn’t give up easily. Moreover, with the help of our friends, family members and teachers, we can develop good habits more easily.
Compared with the first good habit to develop, the other good ones are easier and easier for us to develop. In fact, with the good habit developed one by one, we will get more used to the way we do it. In other words, we have developed the “habits” of “developing good habits”since then.
As mentioned above, habits decide destiny, yet we can be good friends with good habits and pay no attention to the bad ones. If we can stick to that, there will be an invisible force pushing us to pursue our dream.。
