Overview of Culture
•Often referred to the “Land of the
Morning Calm,”Korea has a
population of 48.74 million (2009)
and a total land area of 100,032 ㎢
(2008). Located at a major crossroads
of Northeast Asia, it has also
achieved the “Miracle of the Han
River .”

Korean Food
•Korea is considered paradise when it comes to food. You can find everything from Korean, Western, and Chinese.Korea is unique in that not only does it have street carts to buy food from, but at night the streets are transformed with small tents that pop-up selling reasonably priced food ,alcoholand
traditional tea. Seasons also have unique specialties; bingsu is
a refreshing iced treat in the summer whereas warm soup,
gimbap, and bungeo-ppang are enjoyed in the fall and winter.
Visitors to Korea will discover a wide array of unique and
delicious Korean food.

through the broth cooking
and fermentation. Korean
food has its own style. The

warm, homely feel.
Omijacha
In Korea, omija has long been used for
medicinal purposes. It comes from the
Schizandra plant, a woody vine on which
clusters of the red berries form in August
Omijacha and September. As the Korean name omija
(five flavors) signifies, the berry exudes
salty, sweet, sour, pungent, and bitter
flavors. Omija is beneficial in lowering
blood pressure and for detoxification.
Dried omija berries can be ground to a
powdered form and mixed in hot water as
a tasty beverage. Fresh berries can also be
soaked in cold water for a few hours until
the flavors are extracted. It is then boiled
and mixed with honey or sugar.

Hanbok •Hanbok is the traditional
Korean dress. It is often
characterized by vibrant
colors and simple lines
without pockets
Basic Composition and Design •Traditional women's hanbok consists of jeogori(a kind of blouse ) and chima ( a kind of wrap-around skirt), which is usually worn full.
•Men's hanbok consists of jeogori (a kind of jacket) and baji which means pants in Korea. The baji were baggy pants in traditional men's hanbok
