黑眼圈是panda eyes?
工作很劳累，有时会出现“黑眼圈”，中国人常译成“panda eyes”，很形象呵，而实际上，在英语中它的地道表达是：“bags under your eyes”，即你有眼袋了。黑眼圈如果用black eyes表达的时候，是说明挨揍变的乌眼青。
上厕所说成“I want to W.C.”?
在中国会听到“I want to W.C.”，中国人习惯用W.C.来指代厕所，是water closet的缩写，每个老外都知道W.C.是什么意思，却没人这么用，因为这个词很古老，这种厕所条件非常简陋，现代条件的厕所再用这个词就不合适了，相当于我们破旧的“茅房”。而且，也不会当动词来用。地道的表达是 the bathroom，the toilet，the washroom，the men's / the ladies。
烤羊肉串是Barbeque?
很多人把Barbeque和中国的烧烤混淆了。在新西兰和澳大利亚，Barbeque是指在海边或公园烧烤，一般在室外。而在中国，羊肉串就很流行，不过那不是Barbeque，那叫Kebab。两者区别在户外，还在于Kebab是指串在扦子上并在火上烤，而Barbeque是在热金属板上烧烤。 Barbeque通常缩写为BBQ或者barbie。
