1.Q地的海拔可能为( )A.90米B.230米C.340米D.420米2.桥梁附近河岸与山峰的高差最接近( )A.260米B.310米C.360米D.410米思维过程1.

If this is true, how come the current generation of TV-addicted kids is much smarter than we are? In my home, the only people who can work the remote control are the children.Perhaps TV does educate you. For example, you learn a useful medical fact: A person who has been shot always has time to speak an incomplete sentence before he dies. “The killer was…” (dies)But I guess the biggest things we learn from TV can be regarded as “Life Skills”. Bad things only happen on dark and stormy nights. Emotional breakdowns cause people to wander in the heavy rain without umbrellas. And contrary to what scientists say, the crack(霹雳) of lightning and the accompanying flash happen at exactly the same time, wherever you are.I’ve even acquired useful geographical facts from science-fiction shows: Aliens speak English no matter which planet they come from.Making use of what we learn from TV can improve our security. Consider these truths. If you are ever attacked by 2 0 bad guys, don’t worry about being outnumbered. The criminals will hang back and take turns to approach you in ones and twos just so you can conveniently defeat them all. Bad guys who are completely covered in black clothes always remove their black masks to reveal that they are in fact, aha, women.TV also teaches us important information about escaping from danger. Watch and learn. (1) If anyone is running after you down a passage, you will find that boxes have been conveniently placed near all the walls you need to jump over. (2) If you are tall and handsome, you can run from any number of armed criminals, and every shot will miss you.Be warned, however. If your name card says “henchman” (帮凶) and you are part of a group of plain-looking people trying to catch a handsome individual, a single shot will kill you. But don’t be anxious: TV also delivers useful information for bad guys. All cars are inflammable (易燃的) and have amazing shock absorbers that enable them to fly into the air and land without damage — except police cars.TV even teaches us about TV. Whenever anyone turns on a TV, it shows a news flash about someone they know. They then turn the box off immediately after that news item.49. By saying “A person who has been shot always has time to speak an incomplete sentence before he dies” (Paragraph 2), the writer shows his________.A. humorB. sympathyC. deep concernD. medical knowledge50. We can learn from Paragraph 3 that in the real world_______.A. bad things cause people to break down in the rainB. bad things never happen on dark and stormy nightsC. people with emotional problems like to walk in the rain without umbrellasD. the crack of lightning and the accompanying flash don’t happen at the same time51. What’s the main idea of this passage?A. Life skills can be learned from TV.B. TV plays an important role in society.C. Watching TV makes people more creativeD. What happens in TV is very different from reality.52. The writer of this passage takes a(n) _______ attitude towards TV plays.A. positiveB. casualC. negativeD. indifferentCHaving a child may improve a woman’s memory, a new study suggests. In the study, women who were new mothers scored better on tests of visuospatial memory – the ability to understand and remember information about their surroundings —compared with women who didn’t have children. The findings contradicts the old belief that women develop“baby brain" or a decline in memory and cognitive(认知的) function, after they have kids, said study researcher Melissa Santiago, a doctoral student at Carlos Albizu University in Miami. “You don’t have to feel that because you have kids, your memory isn’t the same," Santiago said. The study was small, and the findings will have to be tested in larger groups of people, Santiago said.Previous studies on the topic have had mixed results—some showed motherhood hurts cognition, and others showed the opposite. Studies on rats show those with pups have better memory than those without offspring.Santiago analyzed information from 35 first-time mothers whose children were ages 10 to 24 months, and 35 women who had never been pregnant. Both groups scored similarly on intelligence tests. The average age of mothers was 29 and the average age of never-pregnant women was 27.To test visuospatial memory, the women were shown a paper containing six symbols for 10 seconds, and then asked to draw what they remembered. This task was repeated several times. The first time women were shown the paper, both groups remembered about the same amount. But on the second and third pass, mothers performed better than those without children, indicating that the mothers collected more information each time than the other women.Later, the women were shown a variety of different symbols, and asked to remember which ones were presented on the earlier task. Mothers did not make a mistake inthis task—they remembered every symbol correctly—but those without children made one or two errors, Santiago said.53. How did Santiago lead to the findings?A. By observation.B. By comparison.C. By analyzing intelligence tests.D. By asking women questions.54. By saying “The study was small", what did Santiago mean?A. The study received little attention.B. The study has just started.C. The study was carried out among a s mall group of people.D. A small group of researchers were involved in the study.55. Which of the following was discussed in the text?A. Ways to test visuospatial memory.B. Why having kids improves memory.C. How young mothers are different from never-pregnant women.D. The negative effects that worries of women without children have.56. It can be inferred that Santiago believe the findings of the study_________.A. may cause a heated discussion among parentsB. may cause an increase in the birth rateC. are tested by previous similar studiesD. are encouraging news for mothersDMy bookshelves are full of dust-and with good reason. When it comes to cleaning that part of myhome, I suffer from the most serious case of avoidance (回避反应症).The thing is this: when I do set out to clean and re-organize my books, which seldom happens, I place myself into a really bad situation. No sooner do I take a title from the shelf, blow off the dust, and wipe down the cover than I find myself sitting on the floor with legs crossed and my back against the wall. Pretty soon books get piled up on my legs as I am reunited with old friends. It is as if these books have voices, and each wants to say its piece. "Remember me? I was given to you when you went into the Navy, so that you would never lack for companionship," one whispers. Another says, "I was your first book of poems, given to you before you learned to love poetry." And a third, "I was the book that made history so attractive to you."Perhaps the greatest pleasure of re-organizing my books are the surprises - or better said,reunions-that occur. During my latest book-cleaning adventure, I found one that had fallen behind the shelf: "Tales of Edgar Allan Poe." Not an unusual title, but the words written on the first page made it very special: "With Love from Mom and Dad, Christmas 1965." What's this? A book on the physics of lasers().It is filled withmathematical statements, and I had bought it at a library sale when I was 12, not long after the laser had been invented. I couldn't understand a bit of it, but I did learn what "laser" meant. What I end up with when I empty my bookshelves is a cross-section (横剖面) of my personal history. It's like a road cut where one sees all the layers of rock going back through time to the beginning of the simplest life forms. The books I've read-and kept-are not just old friends. They are my résumé ?57.What could be said about the author?A. He is too busy to tidy up his bookshelves.B. He considers his books treasured possessions.C. He has made a lot of notes in his books.D. He is a lover of science books.58. By saying that his books have voices, the author means .A. they bring back happy memoriesB. they are recorded in human voiceC. they say a lot about human historyD. they offer good topics for discussion59.What does the author enjoy most from re-organizing his books?A. Finding some missing books.B. Putting books in good order.C. Learning something new from the books.D. Rediscovering interesting stories behind some books.60.By sharing his own experience, the author wants to express thatA.the course of learning his bookshelves is like going back to his historyB.He has suffered from the most serious cases of avoidanceC.The re-organizing of his books is a potential dangerD.The books on his bookshelves have human voicesEA. Find inspiration around youB. Spare no efforts to achieve your goalC. Hold a positive attitudeD. Break the routineE. Find a reason in everything you doF. Take care of your health61You may have goals of losing weight, dreaming of pursuing a passion or interest, plans of achieving success in your career and relationships, but without positive motivation, all these remain goals, plans and dreams if you are not motivated to achieve them and make them into reality. Positive thoughts play a major role in your outlook in life and in giving you the motivation to reach for you dreams. If you are optimistic that you can do the task at hand, or you can reach your goals, you will be motivated to take those steps towards achieving it.62Whether it is nature’s beauty, or great relationships from friends and family, being able to find inspiration has a positive impact in getting yourself motivatedto do what you want to achieve and live a better life, so strive to make friends and keep a happy relationship with your family.63One of the things that can contribute to lack of motivation is doing the same things every day and getting stuck into it without knowing where you are heading. Sometimes you have to explore other opportunities, learn new skills and explore other interests. Do not be afraid to take risks, explore new ways of achieving your goals and get out of your comfort zone at times to discover new things around you and take advantage of new opportunities in life.64A tired and stressed body most often leads to lack of motivation to do what you want to do. Have a regular exercise. This will not only make you become stronger physically but will also lift up your mood to tackle (处理)life’s challenges each day.65Most often, we feel mostly motivated if there is a need to do it. Finding the reason why you live your life each day will truly make everything easy and help you get motivated. Dedicating(致力于) your efforts to someone you love and treasure is also a good motivation that you can give yourself. No matter what challenges you have to face, for as long as you know that you are doing it for someone you love, you will find yourself motivated to do it.
