2024年中考英语新热点时文阅读-音乐与舞蹈01(2024·四川成都·一模)Is there a connection between music and language? According to recent studies, the answer is yes. Here, let’s look at the following two.Music and HearingA recent study by researcher Nina Kraus shows that playing a musical instrument can make a person’s hearing ability become better. In the study, two groups of people listened to a person talking in a noisy room. The people in the first group were musicians, while those in the second group weren’t. The musicians were able to hear the talking person more clearly.Think about violinists in a show. When they play with the group, they hear their own instrument and many others, too. But the violinists must listen closely to what they are playing, and leave out the other sounds. In this way, musicians are able to focus on certain sounds, even in a room with lots of noise.Music and SpeakingGottfried Schlaug, a doctor at Harvard Medical School, works with stroke (中风) patients. Because of their illness, these people cannot say their names, addresses, or other information normally. However, they can still sing. Dr. Schlaug was surprised to find that singing words helped his patients to finally speak. Why does this work? Schlaug isn’t sure. Music seems to help patients to use the brain again. From the results, we can know that music is a good influence on concentration, the ability to focus on one thing. It works on listening and speaking skills as well. Playing an instrument or singing can help us do better in school as well. So music is not only enjoyable, it’s also good for us in many other ways.1.Which two groups of people took part in Nina Kraus’ study?A.Noisy people and quiet people.B.Musicians and non-musicians.C.Violinists and other musicians.2.Why are the violinists mentioned (提及) in paragraph 3?A.To describe what they did in a show.B.To show how important they are in the study.C.To better explain why musicians hear more clearly.3.How does Gottfried Schlaug help stroke patients speak?A.By playing music for them.B.By asking them to sing words.C.By getting them to play an instrument.4.What’s the passage mainly about?A.Music makes people listen carefully and hear well.B.Music can be well used in medical research.C.Music helps with people’s language abilities.5.In which magazine might we read this passage?A.B.C.02(2024·陕西西安·一模)The Zeng Houyi Chime Bells (编钟) were uncovered from the Zeng Houyi Tomb in Suizhou, Hubei Province in 1978. Two young women have turned fun memes into dance moves. They’ve gained about 800,000 fans with their funny performances.Asuan, 26, and Lidawang, 29, are two graduate students of Beijing Dance Academy. They wanted to create something different from the beautiful stage performances that they learned in school.“We gradually found our own styles—funny memes, cartoons, or games, we take these periods of young people’s pop culture and recreate them,” said Lidawang. However, being funny doesn’t mean they don’t put their heart into the dance moves. Memes are popular becauseof their expressiveness (表情丰富), and recreating that expressiveness with dance can be very challenging. It usually takes them one to six months to create a two-minute dance video. To improve their moves they would record their rehearsals (排练) and then look at their moves over and over again.Asuan even made a teaching video for one of their most popular dances—“the Yellow Alien”, based on the meme from the Spanish song Dame Tu Cosita. She worked out how to act like aliens—the relaxed shoulder, the deep squat (深蹲) move and the surprised but childish eyes. As many fans send them “homework” videos, their meme dances are becoming new memes themselves too.“The nature of dance is to express and communicate. What we communicate and pass on to others is happiness and entertainment (娱乐),” said Lidawang.“We’re happy to call ourselves ‘comedians in the world of dance’,” added Asuan.10.What do we know about Asuan and Lidawang’s dance style?A.It is popular among the students at Beijing Dance Academy.B.It is based on what they learned at school.C.It comes from the pop culture of young people.11.Why are their dances challenging?A.Because it is hard to find enough popular memes.B.Because it is difficult to recreate the expressiveness with dance.C.Because each move needs one to six months to check and discuss.12.“The Yellow Alien” in the passage is ________.A.a Spanish song B.a popular dance C.a teaching video13.Which of the following statement is TRUE according to the passage?A.The two girls express the nature of dance in a special way.B.The two girls become very popular without making much effort.C.The two girls just take the memes from Chinese culture.14.What is the passage mainly about?A.Memes based on funny dances.B.Popular dances among young people.C.Two dancers and their special dances.04(23-24九年级上·山东聊城·期末)68-year-old Xu Lili stands out in a group of young people. She goes square dancing every night with her friends in the center of Harbin, Heilongjiang. Their dancing has strong music and great movements, making it more like disco than the slow traditional Chinese square dancing. Xu is the organizer and the only old one in the group. Most dancers are in their 20s. “Grandma Xu may be old, but we all learn from her,” says Zhang Dongkai, 23. “She is our leader.”Most of her friends are young people. She has danced with them for more than 10 years. She doesn’t like slow dance. Dancing is the happiest part of her day. It not only keeps her healthy, but also makes her happy. Her dancing makes her famous on the Internet, with many people speaking highly of her dancing. Not looking after grandchildren, now more elderly Chinese are enjoying their own lives. Wang Y un, 72, goes to a dance class for the old people every week at Harbin University. It is one of the earliest universities for the elderly in China. Hundreds of old people have taken lessons there in the past thirty years. The age of Wang’s dance class is over 60.
