那么,才能提高学生学习英语口语的兴趣,以一种更有效的方式去教好学生的英语口语,并在课时比较紧张的情况下取得一定的效果?本文将从以下几方面进行阐述。
一、影响学生英语口语能力提高的问题
(一)语音不标准——方言的影响
大学生来自祖国的四面八方,很多学生的普通话都不是很标准,带有浓重的地方口音,因此从他们嘴里讲出来的英语同样也具有地方特色,这其实也与他们在中小学阶段接受的英语教育有关,大部分基础英语教育的老师由于轻口语重语法忽视了学生在讲英语这一能力上的培养。
因此,这样的学生,即使语法掌握得很扎实,也还不能和外国人交流。
小到单词、音标,大到句子、段落,都受到他们方言的影响,而说不标准。
(二)表达不地道——母语思维的影响
几乎所有的学生在用英语说话时,都会经历这样的思维过程:听到英语——翻译成汉语进行理解——用汉语思考要说的话——翻译成英语表达出来。
很明显,这样的思维过程,一定会受到母语思维的影响。
如果始终以这样的逻辑思维来讲英语,说出来的英文永远不会是地道的英文,而是中国式英语,即使学习英语多年,词汇量很大,在口语表达上也难以达到让人满意的效果。
(三)羞于开口——缺乏信心的影响
尽管学生们已经意识到英语口语的重要性,并且知道提高口语水平最有效的方法就是张开嘴,勇敢地说出来,但还是有很多学生由于缺乏信心而羞于开口。
其实在这些学生的内心深处是很渴望有锻炼的机会,但由于基础较差,带有浓重的地方口音,怕发音不标准,表达不准确而被人嘲笑,因此导致相当一部分学生在英语课堂上总是沉默是金。
所以,这些学生直到大学毕业,英语口语水平仍然没有得到提高。
二、提高学生英语口语能力的解决方法
(一)纠正学生的英语发音即语音语调
在大学英语的第一堂课,向学生阐明正确发音的重要性,即标准的发音是一个人英语口语素质的基本体现。
并且督促学生积极纠正,在课下同学之间互相帮助,互相监督。
同时教师也应该帮助学生总结一些极其容易出错的发音在课堂上有针对性地指
出,让学生引起足够的注意和重视。
教师可以安排学生课下做一些他们感兴趣的原声材料模仿练习并要求在课堂上进行展示,例如,电影对白,演说词,诗歌朗诵,英文歌曲等。
学生通过模仿不仅可以纠正每个单词的准确发音也可以有意识地去学习纯正英文中的语调及地道的表道方法,从而增加对英语的语感。
长此以往,一定能收到意想不到的效果。
(二)培养学生用英语思维的能力
(1)鼓励学生掌握尽可能多的词组
在大学英语教学中,单词的学习,不能占用太多的课堂时间,而应该成为学生自主学习的一项主要内容。
传统教学中比较重视的单词的掌握,并配以一定的例句,但在实际生活中,词组才是人与人交流的最小单位。
因此,学生应以词组为单位,尽可能多地掌握词组。
教师为了引导学生可以在课堂上适当地加入词组接龙竞赛之类的游戏,要求学生按顺序将自己所掌握的词组写到黑板上,这种方法一方面可以活跃课堂气氛,另一方面也可以提高学生记忆词组的积极性。
(2)地道英语/固定表达法的学习
有些地道的英语表达法可以猜出他们的意思,却很难在说的时候想到这些固定的说法。
所以,教师应该引导学生多看些纯正的英语阅读材料,地道的英语影片,并有意识地积累这样的句子,比如用一个小本子把平时看到的这样一些纯正地道的句子记下来,有空时就多拿出来翻一翻,读一读,在日常的生活中也可
以随时地向周围同学朋友“显示一下”,来帮助自己记忆。
这样,久而久之,在很多情境下,学生们就可以按照英语的模式来表达意思了。
(3)背诵文章讲故事,培养语感
学生通过背诵短小精悍的文章,可以缓解畏难情绪,激发他们的兴趣,更重要的是培养了他们的语感。
在跟读——朗读——背诵这三步曲的练习中,学生们大大提高了他们的断句能力和理解能力。
其实,无论是什么材料,只要是地道的英文,难度符合学生的水平,内容是学生们所感兴趣的,坚持背诵,都能提高学生的语感。
例如,教师可以在每节口语课上安排一个学生讲故事的环节,要求学生们把课下收集的或者自己写的感兴趣的故事或者笑话在课上讲给大家听,其实只要是学生感兴趣的,他们都能在课堂上勇跃表现。
(三)因材施教,营造轻松氛围,激发信心
