这个故事发生在美国的加州，大家都知道在上个世纪的二三十年代，掀起了一股淘金热。
四面八方的人都来到这里淘金，很快，有许多的人一夜暴富，金子也很快被淘完了。
就有这么两兄弟，由于他们的信息不灵通，当他们得到这个消息时，他们也很快加入了淘金者的队伍。
但是当他们来到这里淘金时，却什么也没有淘到。
时间一长，身上带的盘缠也花光了，于是他们只好在这里长期居住了下来，兄弟俩都先后娶了妻，从此以后开始了安居乐业的田园生活。
由于成天不干好事，很快都各自有了自己的产品。
由于美国人的这个英文字母太长，为了便于大家理解，我就把他改成我们中国的名字。
那个先出生的叫大毛，后出生的叫二毛。
随着时间的流失，这个大毛和二毛很快就长大了，在美国有个“独立制”，只要你年满18岁，你就必需自己独立生活。
所以，这个大毛和二毛就和大多数人一样，出门打工去了。
这一打就是好几年过去了，大家都知道出门打工的辛酸，为了赶时髦，他们各自给家里安装了一部座机电话。

就有这么一年，眼看“圣诞节”就要到了，大家都知道，这个圣诞节在美国是很隆重的节日，就好比是我们中国的春节一样。
因此，他们双方的家长就给他们打来了电话，说道：大毛，二毛呀，父母好想念你们啊，你们务必在“圣诞节”前赶回来，我们家好久没有团圆了啊。
这个大毛和二毛一听，于是就不约而同的往家里赶。
说来也凑巧，当他们在村口下车的时候，都发现了对方。

在他们还在说话的时候，这个大毛早就掏出了手机，悄悄的按了一下那个快拔键，电话很快就接通了，正好接电话的是他的母亲。
他母亲一听是大毛的声音，于是就说道：大毛呀，赶快回来吃饭吧！大毛说道：妈呀，你赶快上山来，我和二毛在后山上玩，一玩就玩出来一个金子，要是你先上山来呢，这个金子就是我们家的了；要是二毛家的人先上来，那么金子就是二毛家的了；你赶快上山来吧！大毛的母亲一听说是“金子”，急的连电话都没有放好，拔腿就往外跑。
大家都知道，那个农村的门坎比较高，她一不留神，就被那个门坎绊倒了，额头上碰了一个大包。
这一摔不要紧，一下子就把她摔醒了，他的母亲心想：好你个大毛呀，在外面打了几年工，什么也没有学到，就学会了忽悠你老妈。
我和你父亲修了半辈子的地球，连一个铜板都没有拔到，你和二毛在后山上玩就玩出了一块金子，你骗谁呢？于是她就揉了揉额头上的包，继续去做她的家务了。
这个大毛在山上左等右等都没有看见他的母亲上来，心里很是着急。
这时二毛也掏出手机，准备给他家里打电话。
但是他一看大毛虽然早就打了电话，但是他的母亲还是没有上山来。
要是我也象大毛那样打电话，我的母亲肯定也不会上山来，我何不换一种说话方式呢？于是他也拨通了家里的电话，正好接电话的于是他的母亲，他母亲一听是二毛的声音，于是
大声说道：二毛呀，怎么还不回家呢？饭都已经做好了，赶快回来吃饭。
二毛也是大声说道：妈呀，你知道那个大毛从小就欺负我，今天也不例外。
他把我推到在一个坑里，我的腿都摔断了，要是你早点上山来呢，也许我这条腿还有救。
于是你晚来一步，我这条腿就保不住了，到那个时候，我连老婆都娶不到，你也就没有孙子可以保了，你赶快上山来吧！他的母亲一听，心想：要是儿子的腿断了，不仅要落下个终生残废，而且连孙子都没有了。
“母子连心啊”，于是他的母亲就飞快的向后山跑去。
当她气踹嘘嘘的跑到后山上时，远远的就看见大毛和二毛还在那里做游戏，“笨蛋呀笨蛋，谁笨蛋呀她笨蛋”，一指就指到了二毛的母亲面前。
二毛的母亲一看，这个二毛还好好的，腿也根本没有断呀。
“好小子，原来你是在骗你老妈啊”！于是就很生气的从旁边操起一根碗口粗的木棒，杀气腾腾的冲向二毛。
二毛一看形势不妙，急忙抢过金子“扑通”一声跪在了他的母亲面前，说道：妈呀，我知道你要打我。
但是你在打我之前可不可以先听我把话说完，到那个时候你再打我也不迟啊！这二毛母亲心想也是呀，于是二毛就把捡金子的前因后果讲述给了他的母亲听，他的母亲听完后高兴的搂着二毛说道：还是我们家二毛聪明，在外面打工几年，还是学到了一些东西，不愧是妈的好孩子。
要是你象大毛那样说，我也是不会上来的。
说完，二毛的母亲就搂着二毛，抱着金子高高兴兴的回家了，从此以后过上了富裕的生活。
这时，就剩下那个大毛还傻愣傻愣的站在那里，他心想：电话是我先打的，为什么我的家人没有上山来呢？
