Most of it was from my flight training. Ten years ago, I was watching TV in my bedroom one day before my flight training began and I saw the second airplane hit the World Trade Center. Then I got the call saying I no longer had a job. My career was destroyed. I had no place to go and ended up moving into my car. I read newspapers to look for a job and I was offered one, which offered me $75,000 a year. But I decided to make a change. I wanted to receive flight training and become a pilot. It was my dream. So I refused the job and chose to work part time. It sounded unbelievable to do such a thing. It was even more so because I was over the age of thirty, but I was determined to make my dream come true. I left the state of Virginia and ended up in Las Vegas.Though I made about $25,000 a year at that time, I was severely in debt because the fees for training were high. I was living in my truck and sleeping in parking garages. I didn't plan for my life to take this direction, but I insisted on my training. Then at last my world changed and mydream came true. I finally became a pilot. The passengers that I flew had more money in their pocket than I had in the bank. I hated myself and was worried about my situation, but I never gave up. I kept paying back the debt and I kept saving in the bank. And finally, I paid off my credit card debt.Today, I am a skilled airline pilot based in Milwaukee. I wrote in my spare time. My autobiography (⾃传) has been published, which sells well. That is my first book, but it won't be my last one.26. When the second airplane hit the World Trade Center, the writer was probably __________.A. working in his officeB. watching TV at homeC. answering a phone callD. searching for job information27. Why did the writer refuse the job?A. Because he didn't like it.B. Because the pay was low.C. Because he wanted to follow his dream.D. Because he was frightened to。

My-english-learning-experience作文汇总
My english learning experienceAs one member of the Chinese students, I have the typical same experience of English learning with other guys.As is known to all, English learning consists of five parts: listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation. Therefore, I began the learning process step by step as the above.I first began to have the English class in my junior school. I learnt English from ABC to words, then sentences, even passages. Though my English teacher had an actually very beautiful p ronunciation, she still recommended us to listen to the English cassette. What’s more, she also asked us to read English books loudly everyday and to recite our textbook or good passages. Thanks to her hard requirements, I formed good habits of learning English. Then I entered Beijing NO.2 Middle School. During the middle school’ life, I learnt the most important part of English, grammar. It not only helped me to understand the sentence structure, but also assisted me to know the meaning of the sentences, the paragraphs better. In other words, with the help of grammar, I could read some more difficult passages. In my opinion, learning English is a long process, it needs every day’s improvement, so there is no need to attend other extracurricular classes. But an old saying always reminds me to study English now and then, which is no pain, no gain. So when I want to be lazy for English study, it will come out to threaten the lazy worms back.Later, I became a student of Beijing International Studies University. My English learning experience in the past three years in university was extremely useful and unforgettable.English is an language just as Chinese, so the learner should speak it out every day or talk with the language. The most ideal one is that we have environment of learning English. But as conditions limited, I have to find chances to train myself. There are at least three ways to improve speaking. First, in the morning after breakfast, I will find a place to read new words and English books out. On the one hand, it is an efficient method to remember the new ones and the beautiful sentences, on the other hand, it can help to find my mistakes in pronunciation and it is good for speaking. Second, if the teacher can provide opportunity to show myself in the class, I will be very happy. I am not afraid of making mistakes and being laughed at. I think this is a chance to build my confidence, also a way to test my English level. The last but not the least, in the college, we have many foreign teachers and students, I make friends with them so that I can improve my speaking, and know more about their culture.Listening is another vital part of learning English. Broadcasting and TV are two good friends to help me. I began to train listening with the VOA special English, because the speed of the program is slow. Persistence is the important factor in the improvement of listening. Then I started to listen to the daily news report. This one is much faster than the VOA special English, so I try to catch the general idea for the first time, then to take notes, repeat after the report, and check the script.Reading plays an important role in English learning. While doing reading in some examinations, I think some ways to solve the problems should be summed up. The skills to doing different reading materials can be divided into scanning and skimming. Some paragraphs should be understood in detail, others even can be skipped over. If there are some new words that I come across, I would guess its meaning according to its context first rather than refer to dictionary. Otherwise, after-class reading should be paid much attention to. Once I kept reading for China Daily for two months, I found I got a lot from it, I absorbed some new words, gained some new knowledge about the worlds, raised my speed of reading. The result was extremely wonderful. So reading beyond textbooks is really necessary. The most difficult part of English learning is writing. Writing is the embodiment of one’s language ability. Someone says, writing needs large vocabulary, good grammar skill, wonderful logical ability and excellent imagination. I think writing is not easy, so I worked hard on it. My teacher told me, before writing, I should do some work home, to accumulate some background about the writing topic, to think carefully about the main view about the passage, to design the structure of the composition and so on. To accomplish a good writing should both satisfy the two persons’ requirements. The first is the basic, the second is the preparation, and neither can be abundant. In words, learning English is not a short term’s work. It’s a long process. Though it is hard work, I believe I am the person who can persist in learning, and smiling at last.。
