NEC EXPRESSCLUSTER

It is recom-mended that air pressure of these tools measures 90 psig at the tool with the trigger fully depressed and no load applied to the tool. Higher pressure (over 90 psig; 6.2 bar) raises performance beyond the rated capacity of the tool, which will shorten tool life and could cause injury.Always use clean, dry air. Dust, corrosive fumes and/or water in the air line will cause damage to the tool. Drain water from air lines and compressor prior to running tool. Clean the air inlet filter screen weekly. The recommended hookup procedure can be viewed in the above figure. The air inlet used for connecting air supply has standard 1/4" NPT. Line pressure should be increased to compensate for unusually long air hoses (over 25 feet). Minimum hose diameter should be 3/8" I.D. and fittings should have the same inside dimensions and be tightly secured.Ensure an accessible emergency shut off valve has been installed in the air supply line and make others aware of its location. LUBRICATIONLubricate the air motor daily with high quality air tool oil. If no air line oiler is used, run 1/2 oz. of oil through the tool. The oil can be squirted into the tool air inlet or into the hose at the nearest con-nection to the air supply, then run the tool. A rust inhibitive oil is acceptable for air tools.WARNING: After an air tool has been lubricated, oil will discharge through the exhaust port during the first few seconds of operation. The exhaust port must be covered with a towel before applying air pressure to prevent serious injury.OPERATIONAl w ays t urn o ff t he a ir s up p ly, d rain h ose o f a ir p res s ure a nd d e t ach tool from air sup p ly be f ore in s tall i ng, re m ov i ng or ad j ust i ng any ac c es s o r y on this tool,or be f ore per f orm i ng any main t e n ance on this tool. This impact wrench is rated at 7/8" SAE bolt size. Rating must be down graded for spring U bolts, tie bolts, long cap screws, double depth nuts, badly rusted conditions and spring fasteners as they absorb much of the impact power. When possible, clamp or wedge the bolt to prevent springback.Soak rusted nuts in penetrating oil and break rust seal before removing with impact wrench. If nut does not start to move in three to five seconds use a larger size impact wrench. Do not use impact wrench beyond rated capacity as this will drastically reduce tool life. The reversing valve is used to change the direction of the tool. When the valve is out, the tool is in a forward or right hand direction. When the valve is pushed in, the direction is reverse or left hand. NOTE: Actual torque on a fastener is directly related to joint hard-ness, tool speed, condition of socket and the time the tool is allowed to impact. Use the simplest possible tool-to-socket hook up. Every connection absorbs energy and reduces power. TROUBLESHOOTINGOther factors outside the tool may cause loss of power or erratic action. Reduced compressor output, excessive drain on the air line, moisture or restrictions in air pipes or the use of hose connections of improper size or poor conditions may reduce air supply. Grit or gum deposits in the tool may cut power and may be corrected by cleaning the air strainer and flushing out the tool with gum solvent oil or an equal mixture of SAE #10 and kerosene. If outside conditions are in order, disconnect tool from hose and take tool to your nearest authorized service center.WARRANTYCornwell Quality Tools Company (“Cornwell”) warrants this product against defects in material and workmanship for a period of TWO (2) YEARS from the date of original retail purchase.

Lesson 25 Non-auditory effects of noise First listen and then answer the following question. What conclusion does the author draw about noise and health in this piece? Many people in industry and the Services, who have practical experience of noise, regard any investigation of this question as a waste of time; they are not prepared even to admit the possibility that noise affects people. On the other hand, those who dislike noise will sometimes use most inadequate evidence to support their pleas for a quieter society. This is a pity, because noise abatement really is a good cause, and it is likely to be discredited if it gets to be associated with bad science. One allegation often made is that noise produces mental illness. A recent article in a weekly newspaper, for instance, was headed with a striking illustration of a lady in a state of considerable distress, with the caption ‗She was yet another victim, reduced to a screaming wreck‘, On turning eagerly to the text, one learns that the lady was a typist who found the sound of office typewriters worried her more and more until eventually she had to go into a mental hospital. Now the snag in this sort of anecdote is of course that onecannot distinguish cause and effect. Was the noise a cause of the illness, or were the complaints about noise merely a symptom? Another patient might equally well complain that her neighbours were combining to slander her and persecute her, and yet one might be cautious about believing this statement. What is needed in the case of noise is a study of large numbers of people living under noisy conditions, to discover whether they are mentally ill more often than other people are. Some time ago the United States Navy, for instance, examined a very large number of men working on aircraft carriers: the study was known as Project Anehin. It can be unpleasant to live even several miles from an aerodrome; if you think what it must be like to share the deck of a ship with several squadrons of jet aircraft, you will realize that a modern navy is a good place to study noise. But neither psychiatric interviews nor objective tests were able to show any effects upon there American sailors. This result merely confirms earlier American and Brithsh studies: if there is any effect of noise upon mental health, it must be so small that present methods of psychiatric diagnosis cannot find it. That does not prove that it does not exist; but it does mean that noise is less dangerous than ,say, being brought up in an orphanage—which really is a mental health hazard. New words and expressions Lesson 26 The past life of the earth First listen and then answer the following question. What is the main condition for the preservation of the remains of any living creature? It is animals and plants which lived in or near water whose remains are most likely to be preserved, for one of the necessary conditions of preservation is quick burial, and it is only in the seas and rivers, and sometimes lakes, where mud and silt have been continuously deposited, that bodies and the like can be rapidly covered over and preserved. But even in the most favourable circumstances only a small fraction of the creatures that die are preserved in this way before decay sets in or ,even more likely, before scavengers eat them.. After all ,all living creatures live by feeding on something else, whether it be plant or animal, dead or alive, and it is only by chance that such a fate is avoided. The remains of plants and animals that lived on land are much more rarely preseved, for there is seldom anything to cover them over. When you think of the innumerable birds that one sees flying about, not to mention the equally numerous small animals like field mice and voles which you do not see, it is very rarely that one comes across a dead body, except, of course, on the roads. They decompose and are quickly destroyed by the weather or eaten by some other creature. It is almost always due to some very special circumstances that traces of land animals survive, as by falling into inaccessible caves, or into an ice crevasse, like the Siberian mammoths, when the whole animal is sometimes preserved, as in a refrigerator. This is what happened to the famous Beresovka mammoth which was found preserved and in good condition. In his mouth were the remains of fir trees---the last meal that he had before he fell into the crevasse and broke his back. The mammoth has now been restored in the palaeontological Museum in St. Petersburg. Other animals were traped in tar pits, like the elephants, sabretoothed cats, and numerous other creatures that are found at Rancho la Brea, which is now just a suburb of Los Angles. Apparently what happened was that water collected on these tar pits, and the bigger animals like the elephants ventured out on to the apparently firm surface to drink, and were promptly bogged in the tar. And then ,when they were dead, the carnivores, like the sabre-toothed cats and the giant wolves, came out to feed and suffered exactly the same fate. There are also endless numbers of birds in the tar as well. ERROL WHITE The past life of the earth from Discovery
