山西省2022-2023学年高二上学期期末考试英语(外研版)试题

山西省2022-2023学年高二上学期期末考试英语(外研版)试题一、阅读理解While anytime is the perfect time to take a European vacation, there is something special about autumn. Here are a few places to consider when you are planning your own fairy tale European vacation this fall.◆ Zaanse Schans—NetherlandsJust a short trip from the wonderful tree-lined city of Amsterdam is Zaanse Schans. You can explore traditional industries like wooden clog carving (木屐雕刻), barrel making, and participate in cheese tastings, visit the home of a fisherman, and even check out a working windmill.◆ Hallstatt—AustriaSituated on Lake Halstatt, the town itself was known for producing salt. But it’s also known for its beauty and has been named a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. Start early at the tow n’s photo point to seize some of the most breathtaking shots of the location and yourself!◆ Trondheim—NorwayBeautiful walking trails with both mountain and seaside views are the perfect way to start a refreshing fall morning before taking in the scene at the K-U-K art gallery or a visit to the largest medieval cathedral (中世纪大教堂). It is also surrounded by countless small and large-scale food producers.◆ Mdina—MaltaWith no cars allowed, the “silent city” has maintained an atmosphere of beauty and delight throughout time, and its mix of medieval and baroque (巴洛克式的) architecture, including palaces, gives the feeling that you are truly traveling back in time.1. What can visitors do in Zaanse Schans?A.Operate a running windmill. B.Enter a cheese-making contest. C.Experience traditional carving skills. D.Treat friends in a fisherman’s home. 2. Which place favors photography lovers?A.Hallstatt. B.Zaanse Schans.C.Mdina. D.Trondheim.3. Which of the following can visitors enjoy both in Norway and Malta?A.Wooden carving. B.Medieval buildings.C.Food tasting. D.Baroque palaces.I got caner last year. I had a scan at 7:30 in the morning, and it clearly showed a tumor on my pancreas. I didn’t even know what a pancreas was. The doctors told me this was almost certainly a type of cancer that is deadly, and that I should expect to live no longer than three to six months. My doctor advised me to go home and get my affairs in order, which is doctor’s code for preparing to die. It means trying to tell your ki ds everything you thought you’d have the next 10 years to tell them in just a few months. It means making sure everything is buttoned up so that it will be as easy as possible for your family.I lived with that result all day. Later that evening I had a physical examination, but my wife, who was there, told me that when they viewed the cells under a microscope the doctors started crying because it turned out to be a very rare form of cancer that is curable with surgery. I had the surgery and I’m fine now.T his was the closest I’ve been to facing death. No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It is life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by the so-called rule—which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart. It somehow already knows what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.4. What fact can we know in paragraph 1?A.The author was terrified of his disease.B.The author was well aware of his condition.C.The author was advised to get rid of his job.D.The author was diagnosed with an incurable disease.5. What happened to the author according to the text?A.He was cured by surgery. B.His wife helped him out.C.His cancer may be incurable. D.He prepared his affairs in order.6. What impression did the author give us when telling his illness?A.He was nervous about his illness. B.He spoke of his illness in a calm tone. C.He was a responsible man to his wife. D.He was scared at his approaching death.7. What does the author want to tell us in the last paragraph?A.To treasure and enjoy your own family life.B.To live the life you truly desire by working hard.C.To be brave enough when facing a terrible cancer.D.To stop living your life by the principles of others.Air taxis still seem like a far-off concept. However, the technology has continued to advance. An announcement this week from electric aircraft startup Archer Aviation just brought a future where you can call a flight across town one step closer.Archer announced yesterday that it has planned to launch a network of air taxis in the city by 2024. Archer’s version of a flying taxi is called the Maker. It looks a bit like a helicopter and has three propellers. The all-electric, zero-emission aircraft can go up to 60 miles on a single charge, and can travel at speeds up to 150 miles per hour. The windows give passengers a 270-degree view, and if the outside world below you isn’t entertaining enough, the re’s also a touch screen for flight information and other entertainment options.Though all the data are in place, Archer hasn’t actually started producing Makers yet. There’s still a lot that needs to take place before we look up and see air taxis flying above our city streets. There need to be more takeoff and landing sites to make this mode of transportation practical and time-saving; its costs need to come down if anyone other than the wealthy is to be able to use it.Despite the remaining obstacles, Archer is optimistic about its potential, projecting more than $12 billion of income by 2030. If that ends up being accurate, it will mean a lot of people are using air taxis to get around, and in more cities. Either way, it seems this mode of transportation is slowly but surely moving from a far-off concept to near-term reality.8. What is the first paragraph telling us?A.People begin to use public air taxis. B.Using shared transportation is popular.C.People hate to take flights between towns. D.Flight-calling is hopefully closer to reality.9. Which of the following is the strong point of Maker?A.It is more time-saving. B.Its style is popular with people. C.It’s environmentally friendly.D.It costs less than public transportation.10. What does the author think of Air taxis?A.It is a challenging process. B.It is a temporary success.C.It is an unattainable idea. D.It is a disastrous invention.11. Where is this text probably taken from?A.A news report. B.A book review.C.A physics textbook. D.A scientific magazine. The coronavirus pandemic (大流行病) has changed many aspects of daily life around the world. One of the main changes for many people has been that they are now working 100% from home. While it is impossible for all jobs to be done from home, companies whose work can be carried out remotely have been working to set up systems for employees to do so. There have been some challenges to work out in the early stages but many workers are finding that they are able to do their jobs in almost exactly the same way as if they were in an office. With the high-speed Internet, working from home has technically been possible. However, the vast majority of businesses have been averse to having employees not attend a physical workplace. Many business owners believe that their staff will not work as efficiently if they are working from home. There is a strong belief that workers won’t focus on work and will do other things if they are not being watched like they are in a physical workplace.Businesses in multiple countries have been forced to close as countries lockdown and practice social distancing because of the coronavirus. As such, companies have been trying to find creative solutions to continue their regular work. Meetings are being held over apps like Zoom and Skype. In March, Zoom has been one of the most downloaded apps in the world. The sudden shift to working from home has led many to question whether they can continue working from home after the Covid-19 situation is settled. Working from home h as many benefits for workers who don’t have to commute (通勤) and can work how they like. Not all workers wish to continue working from home. For many people the social aspect of meeting coworkers in a workplace is important and some people struggle to work as efficiently in their own home. The question now is whether the working culture of the world has permanently changed. In the future, we could see a lot more people choosing to work either full or part-time from their own homes.12. What can we know from paragraph 1?A.Working in office has already been phased out.B.Working remotely is encouraged in the pandemic.C.Companies urgently need to purchase the systems.D.Remote work is exactly the same as the office work.13. Which word can replace the underlined word “averse” in paragraph 2?A.Unclear. B.Unwilling.C.Uninterested. D.Unbelievable.14. What does paragraph 3 mainly focus on?A.The popularity of Zoom. B.The reason for social distancing. C.Measures to continue normal work. D.Functions of some apps in regular work.15. What can we learn from the last paragraph?A.Working place has been shifted home.B.Working from home is more productive.C.Working time will become more flexible.D.Working culture has changed completely.二、七选五Picture this: You’re searching the Internet and come across a website with interesting articles. Slowly the five black boys became a necessary part of the Rosen family. Housework was assigned, including cleaning, loading the dishwasher and walking Mr Jenkins, the family dog. The boys’ own families were puzzled by what was happening. “My mom didn’t believe me when I told her about the penthouse,”says Kindu. “She thought I was involved with something bad.”Juan Carlos’ mother, Esther Ruiz, wondered,"Why would the Rosens be doing this?"But as time went on, she noticed changes in her son. “He was getting responsible.
