“悬棺”之谜解朱友昌一千多年前,福建一位著名学者在武夷山游览时,看到半崖上的山洞里放着一些棺材,十分惊讶,便在笔记里写下了“悬棺”一词。
后来,云南、贵州、四川、陕西等10多个省市,甚至东南亚和太平洋群岛也发现了悬棺或类似的崖葬。
这些悬棺或崖葬,有的在崖洞中,有的搁在横木上,有的近贴水面,有的高离水面。
那么,这些悬棺或崖葬是什么人留下来的呢?秦汉时期,武夷山属闽越,是闽越人的活动中心。
因而就有人推断,武夷山的悬棺是闽越人的遗物。
有人据悬棺或崖葬风俗的延续性考虑,认为散布在各地的悬棺或崖葬都是古越人及其后人所为。
古越人散布到各地,把他们的葬俗也带到了这些地方。
这种说法不能说没有道理,但是我们在研究悬棺或崖葬时,认为它是一种风俗,而不去研究该葬俗形成的客观原因,即实行悬棺葬或崖葬的民族的生产生活环境。
要知道,人类的许多风俗是自然形成的,越是在早期,人类越受到当时生产条件生活环境的制约。
已发现的悬棺或崖葬,均在溪流的悬崖上,且大都在大江大河支流及其末端,两岸高山峻岭、断崖绝壁,中间溪水流淌,这样的环境,只有渔民才有可能在此生产生活。
而且,这些地方都远离农耕区域,可排除农耕民所为的可能性。
在福建武夷山、江西龙虎山的悬棺中,有几具船形棺。
可以设想:悬棺的主人是以船为家,也就把棺椁造成船形了,使死去的人能像活着时一样生活;或者在最早时,就是以船作棺来存放尸体的,渐而成俗。
考古工作者曾对一具船形棺进行研究,发现随葬品中有龟形木盘和许多鱼骨,棺的主人生前很可能是个渔民了。
遍布于江河小溪中的渔民因水而居,因渔而生,漂泊不定而又极其分散,很难有一块属于自己的安身之“地”。
