Here is a list of some of the year's biggest blockbusters so far.Kong: Skull IslandA reboot(重启)of King Kong would normally get laughed at in this day and age, but it looks like this modem version of the story will be worth watching. With US actress Brie Larson and UK actor Tom Hiddleston in the mix, this film is set to be this year's biggest monster tale.Release Date: 3/10/2017Beauty and the BeastDirector Bill Condon is bringing back a part of our childhood in live action, complete with the songs we all remember and love. With British stars Emma Watson and Dan Stevens leading the cast, the classic Walt Disney story already sounds like it'll be a delight for both children and adults.Release Date: 3/17/2017The Fate of the FuriousThere was doubt that we'd even get a Fast 8, especially after the fitting ending US actor Paul Walker's character was given at the end of Furious 7. Fans thought they'd never see Dom and the rest of the crew back in action, but thankfully, US star Vin Diesel himself confirmedthat The Fate of the Furious is fueling up for another go. The actor's character, Dom, turns to the dark side, funded by new enemy Cipher, played by South African actress Charlize Theron. Release Date: 4/14/2017Spider-Man: HomecomingSpider Man is heading home to Marvel Studios for the first time. The movie will show us Peter Parker's high school days, and will continue the threads we saw formed during his initial appearance in Captain America: We know that Michael Keaton is playing The Vulture in this story, and that both Happy Hogan and Tony Stark, played by US actors Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr., are along for the ride. This list should give you some ideas on how to get more from your coke than usual.1. Coca Cola is an excellent rust buster(除锈剂). If you have a bunch of small rusty objects, put them in coke overnight and give them a good scrub in the morning. Coke helps to break down the rust, making cleaning much easier. Be sure to throw out the used coke when you are done with it or you might be taking a trip to the doctor.2. Like the previous item, the citric acid(柠檬酸)in coke makes for an excellent window cleaner. This is especially useful for car windows. Pour a can of coke over the window and rub the window, then wipe it off with a wet cloth to remove any sugary matter from the sugar in the drink. As coke is full of sugar, you should clean the sticky matter off the window glasses, or it will be not a cleaner but a dirt.3. For those of you who live in areas where skunk(臭鼬)smells can be an issue from time to time, one can of coke added to water with detergent(清洁剂)really helps to break the smell down. If you have been sprayed, stand in the shower and cover yourself from head to toe with coke—wait for a few minutes, then wash yourself with a shower. Coke is an excellent hair treatment so you get two tips for the price of one with this item!4. Pots can sometimes get black on the bottom. The black is almost impossible to remove; this is caused by over-cooking. To remove the black and renew your pot, pour in a can of coke(or as much as you need to cover the blackened area by an inch)and put it on the stove on a low heat. After an hour or so, wash the pot as normal.(1)What does the underlined word "scrub" in Paragraph 2 probably mean?A Start.B Cleaning.C Shake.D Example.(2)What is important while using coke to clean car windows?A Use a dry cloth.B Rub the window lightly.C Don't pour too muchcoke. D Clean the sugary matter thoroughly.(3)For which purpose does coke have to be mixed with other material?A To get rid of the black on the pot.B To break down the rust.C To remove smells.D To clean windows.(4)What type of writing is this text?A An advertisement.B A review.C A news report.D A practical guide.3. Bethany Burke was packing for a family vacation when she glanced in the mirror and froze. She saw a small ugly red bump in the middle of her forehead. "That's the worst, " she remembers thinking. She had no idea, however, how much worse it would get.Bethany, then a 15﹣year﹣old high school student tried to forget about the bump as she boarded a flight from her hometown of Austin, Texas, to Portland, Oregon. But during the flight the bump grew. And grew. And grew. After the plane landed, more bumps appeared, including one close to her eye. Her parents took her to the nearest emergency room. As it turns out, Bethany had been attacked by a superbug (超级病菌).Superbugs were once a problem only in hospitals and nursing homes. In the past decade, though, they have been affecting healthy children and adults as well. In a few hours, they can cause life﹣threatening infections."Teens, especially student athletes, can be easily hurt because superbugs stay in warm, damp places where people come into close contact with each other, such as school locker rooms and gyms, " says Dr. Aaron Glatt, an infectious disease specialist. "If you get cut playing sports, and you come into contact with a superbug on a mat, you give it a way to get in, " he explains. As for Bethany, she says the doctor didn't seem too concerned. "He just handed me this pill, an antibiotic (抗生素), " Bethany says. "He gave us the impression that it was going to clear up very fast."It didn't take long for Bethany to realize the antibiotics the doctor had given her weren't working. One of the bumps grew so large that she could no longer open her eye, and her pain increased. Her parents rushed her to another hospital. The new medicines seemed to start working. Her fever dropped, and the bumps stopped growing.Luckily for Bethany, there were still three powerful antibiotics that together were able to fight off her infection. But what happens when superbugs become resistant even to those drugs? For doctors, that's the biggest worry.(1)Bethany discovered a bump on her forehead________.A after the plane for Portland landed.B when she came back from avacation. C after she boarded a flight from Austin. D when she was preparing for a vacation.(2)Student athletes are likely to be attacked by superbugs partly because________.A they sweat a lot.B they are often tired.C they are healthy andstrong. D they often wear dirty clothes.(3)How did Bethany feel after taking the pills given by the doctor in the nearest emergency room?________A Even worse.B Much belter.C A little better.D As terrible as before.(4)Doctors are most worried that________.A antibiotics are being overused.B teens are being attacked bysuperbugs. C superbugs may become resistant to all drugs. D more people will get infected with superbugs.4. There's an old joke about how you can never buy beer﹣just rent it. Who would think that the same joke applies to book buying in the digital age? But that's the case. Many people who will be loading their iPads or Amazon Kindles with bestsellers or classics won't have any idea how limited their rights are as their books, "owners". Unlike the owners of a physical book, they won't have the unlimited right to lend an e﹣book, give it away, or resellit. All these restrictions "raise obvious questions about what ‘ownership' is, " observes Dan Gillmor, an expert on digital media. "The companies that license stuff digitally have made it clear that you own nothing." The rules are based on the 1998 Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), with which Congress hoped to balance the rights of copyright holders and content users. "In the digital environment, that's always been the trickiest balance to achieve, " Annemarie Bridy, a specialist said. Both camps have important fights to protect. In the digital world, technology allows infinite (无限的) copies to be made. One could give away an e﹣book and still have it to read. This becomes a great threat to the livelihood of authors, artists, filmmakers and musicians. So some limitation is sensible. That's usually done through digital rights management, or DRM, which encodes (编码) copy limitations into the digital file. The DMCA protected DRM. The question is whether the balance has given an unfair advantageto the booksellers, at the consumers expense. The answer is yes.For one thing, DRM has put far too much power in the hands of digital booksellers. In 2009, Amazon simply deleted some e﹣books from buyers, Kindles secretly. An uproar(鼓噪) followed. Amazon then promised never to steal a book back from a Kindle without the device owner's permission. But in early 2012, the company shut down the access of Linn Jordet Nygaard, a Norwegian Kindle owner, to her library of 43 e﹣books. Another uproar followed, and Amazon ________ again, restoring Nygaard's account. Another problem of e﹣book DRM is that most e﹣books are tied to the seller's reading device. Buy a book from Amazon, and you can read it only on a Kindle or Amazonapp. This lock﹣in gives the booksellers power over not only consumers but publishers. Moreover, nowhere does Amazon, Apple or any other distributor promise to support its digital formats forever. There are ways to protect your e﹣books by changing the format. But is it legal? No one is quite sure. The guiding principle must he that an e﹣book owner's rights and responsibilities parallel those of a printed book owner, and the same must apply to authors, publishers and booksellers. Clarify these rules, and the book market will reap the benefit.Leave the rules as vague (模糊的;含糊的) as they are, and the victims will be authors, consumers and publishers.(1)The author mentions the old joke to say that________.A book buying is easier in the digital age.B buyers do not really own their e﹣books.C it is a good choice just to borrow e﹣books.D e﹣books are convenient compared with physical ones.(2)Which of the following is TRUE about the DMCA?________A It turned out to benefit digital booksellers.B It seems a little unfair to digital booksellers.C It has become a threat to the livelihood of authors.D It actually played a trick on copyright holders and content users.(3)The underlined part "backed down" in Para. 4 probably means________.A felt guilty.B gave in.C broke a promise.D made an apology.(4)What is the author's suggestion?________A Booksellers should be punished by law for their marketing strategy.B Booksellers should make a formal public apology to the victims.C E﹣book readers should buy e﹣books directly from publishers.D E﹣books should be treated the same as physical books.第二节(满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填人空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项多余选项.根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项.选项中有两项为多余选项.5. They’re staring, right? Not always. The fear that people are staring is often your brain playing tricks on you. Researchers at the University of Sydney have discovered that when your brain is unsure of what you’re seeing, it tells itself someone is looking at you and perhaps even passing judgment.“Judging if others are looking at us may come naturally, but it’s actually not that simple –our brains have to do a lot of work behind the scenes,”said lead researcher Colin Clifford, a professor of psychology at the University of Sydney. Our brains determine if someone is looking at us by figuring out where their eyes are pointing and the direction of their head, but without all the necessary information, the brain fills in the blanks using information from prior (以前的) experience.Researchers tested this by creating images of faces and asking test subjects where they believedthe people pictured were looking. They intentionally made it difficult to determine where the figures’eyes were pointing. The test subjects’brains made a lot of assumptions during the test. “It turns out that we’re [built] to believe that others are staring at us, especially when we’re uncertain,”Clifford said. “So gaze perception doesn’t only involve visual cues (暗示) –our brains generate assumptions from our experiences and match them with what we see at a particular moment.”The study concludes that the adult nervous system incorporates (合并) prior experiences with information about a person’s gaze and applies it to a situation it’s unfamiliar with.Your brain does this every day outside of the laboratory, especially when it’s hard to see someone’s eyes, such as at night or when the person is wearing sunglasses. There are some reasons to worry about whether or not someone is looking at you. After all, fear and vanity (自负) are both important elements of the human psyche.“Direct gaze can signal dominance or a threat, and if you perceive something as a threat, you would not want to miss it,”Clifford said. “So assuming that the other person is looking at you may simply be a safer strategy.”When someone looks at you, it may also be a sign that they want to communicate, so your body goes on alert, anticipating the interaction. So remember: you’re not being paranoid (多疑的). You’re just built that way.24. Which of the following information do we use when we decide that others are staring at us?a. our previous experienceb. where their heads are pointingc. where their fingers are pointingd. their facial expressionsA. abB. bcC. acD. bd25. T o make it easier to locate where the figures’eyes were pointing.D. T o give them necessary information to judge whether they were being stared at.26. We worry about whether or not someone is looking at us ______.A. to protect ourselvesB. for fear of not reacting wellC. for fear of hurting their vanityD. to avoid losing the opportunity to make friends27. What is the author’s tone in the last paragraph?A. Critical.B. Comforting.C. Humorous.D. Encouraging.CAs a child growing up in southern California in the mid-1950s, one of my greatest dreams was to go to the newly opened Disneyland. Unfortunately, neither of my parents drove, and Disneyland was located out in the orange groves (小树林) of Anaheim. Even if we found the rides, the cost was more than my family could afford. In June 1956, my sister graduated from high school. As a gift, one of her girlfriends’parents took them to Disneyland. I was happy for my sister but upset that I wouldn’t be going. After all, no sister wants her little brother tagging along (紧跟).After I had spent a few days moping around, my sister told my parents that I could go with her and her friend if I had the money for admission and ride tickets. I don’t know where my parents found the money, but I soon had enough for admission and one “A to E”ride ticket book. That week, I counted down the hours until the day that I would go to the home of Mickey, Donald, and my favorite Goofy. My day at Disneyland was a joyful blur of rides and attractions –and one moment I’ll never forget. As I exited the adventurous Jungle Boat ride, I noticed a long line of kids waiting for something. I soon discovered that several of the Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeers were signing autographs (签名). When I looked to see who was there, my heart almost stopped. It was my first true love, Annette Funicello! I waited for what seemed like forever until it was finally my turn to approach the table where the Mouseketeers were sitting. I still remember Annette smiling at me, asking for my name and then signing a picture for me.As I was exiting the Mouseketeer area, a big man stopped me and asked who my favorite Disneycharacter was. I told him, and he quickly sketched (素描) a drawing of Goofy and signed it for me. That man was Roy Williams, a cartoonist who appeared on the Mickey Mouse Club.Over the years, I lost my autographed photo of Annette, but I still have my drawing of Goofy. I take it out occasionally to remember that wonderful day of my childhood. My wife recently had the sketch framed (装框) for my 65th birthday. It is now prominently (显眼地) displayed in our home. Friends often ask if the drawing has any value. I always tell them that it’s priceless.28. What had made it impossible for the author to go to Disneyland?A. Disneyland was too expensive for his family.B. His parents couldn’t afford the time off to travel.C. Disneyland was too far away from his home.D. His sister didn’t want to take him.29. When the author “moped around”, he was probably ______.A. unhappyB. excitedC. eagerD. astonished30. What is the author’s unforgettable moment at Disneyland?A. The adventurous Jungle Boat ride.B. Varieties of rides and attractions.C. Getting autographs from Annette Funicello.D. Receiving a signed sketch from Roy Williams.31. Why does the author always tell friends that the drawing’s priceless?A. Because he had the drawing valuated.B. Because it carries the best memory of his childhood.C. Because it reminds him how much his family loved him.D. Because Roy Williams’s drawing and signature is no longer available.DThe year 2114 will be an eventful one for art. In May of that year in Berlin, the philosopher-artist Jonathon Keats’“century cameras”–cameras with a 100-year-long exposure time –will be retrieved from hiding places around the city to have their results developed and exhibited. Six months after that, the Future Library in Oslo, Norway, will open its doors for the first time, presenting 100 books printed on the wood of trees planted in the distant past of 2014.As Katie Paterson, the creator of the Future Library, puts it: “Future Library is an artwork for future generations.”These projects, more than a century in the making, are part of a new wave of “slow art”intended to push viewers and participants to think beyond their own lifetimes. They aim to challenge today’s short-term thinking and the brief attention spans of modern consumers, forcing people into considering works more deliberately. In their way, too, they are fighting against modern culture –not just regarding money, but also the way in which artistic worth is measured by attention. In a similar fashion, every April on Slow Art Day, visitors are encouraged to stare at five works of art for 10 minutes at a time –a tough ask for the average museum visitor, who typically spends lessthan 30 seconds on each piece of art.Like the Future Library, the century cameras are very much a project for cities, since it’s in cities that time runs fastest and the pace of life is fastest. “Since I started living in a city, I’ve somehow been quite disconnected,”Anne Beate Hovind, the Future Library project manager, who described how working on the library drew her back to the pace of life she knew when she was growing up on a farm in her youth, told The Atlantic magazine.Works like Future Library and the century cameras raise all sorts of questions. Will any of the cameras survive? Will any of the Future Library works be any good? What will future generations make of century art, and will they see it as the gift that it’s intended to be? More specifically, for those of us struggling with “a crisis of attention”, the question seems to be: How can we adopt this attitude now, in everyday life? When we struggle to look up from our mobile phones, how can we look beyond the present moment and think broadly and generously across time?32.
