必修五UNIT4My First Work Assignment “Unforgettable,” says new reporterGood morning, ladies and gentlemen. I t’s my great honor to be here to share some of my teaching ideas with you. The content of my lesson is My First Work Assignment taken from Unit 4 Book 5. My presentation is composed of four parts:they are analysis of teaching material, teaching methods and learning methods, teaching procedures, and backboard design. Now please allow me to introduce them one by one.OK, let’s focus on the first part, analysis of the teaching material, here I will analyze this part from three points.Point 1.Status and functions. The topic of this unit is making the news. This reading plays a very important role in the learning of this unit. It will help the Ss get to know the skills of journalists and how to conduct a good interview. It will be helpful for them to learn the rest of this unit.Point 2. teaching aims. According to the new standard curriculum and syllabus, I think the teaching aims are the followings:First : knowledge aims. It will enable students to grasp the general meaning of the passage and know the meaning and usages of the new words, phrases and sentence structures.Second, ability aims, it will develop students’ reading skills such as skimming, scanning, gussing, predicting, etc.The third one, emotional aims, in this lesson, I will let Ss knowsomething about the occupation“making the news”and arouse the ss’interests in the job of reporters.Point 3. the Important and Difficult PointsThe important point is to get the Ss to learn about the qualities which are needed to be a good reporterThe difficult point is how to conduct a good interview by using some key words and phrases.Part Two, teaching methods and learning methodsIn order to cul tivate the ss’ basic abilities and achieve the teaching aims, I will adopt communicative teaching method, task-based teaching methods and audio- visual teaching method. As for the learning method, the ss are supposed to apply cooperative method. Because only in this way can we make the ss be the real master of the class, while the teacher acts as the director and organizer. Now, let’s come to the most important part, Part three, teaching procedures. According to the teaching aims, I divide this part into 5 steps.Step One is lead-inBrainstorming. I will use the brainstorm method to describe the place where we can get the information and encourage students to talk about any answers they think of.The purpose of this step is to arouse the students’ interest in this lesson, at the same time, help the students to review the words that theyhave learned before, and lead them to the topic we are going to learn.Step Two is Fast reading. Here I will let students to read passage silently and as quickly as possible to find out the main idea of the passage by filling the blanks and choosing the right answer. The purpose of these activities is to develop students’skimming skills and let them get a brief understanding of the text.Step Three is Careful reading. Here we will read each paragraph again very carefully. I will design several activities according to the content and form of the text. Task 1 is filling the blankets. Task 2 is True or False, Task 3 is match the explanations with the idiomatic expressionsThe purpose of these activities is to develop students’ scanning skills and let them learn how to find some details in the text.Step Four is “Discussion”Here students will be divided into several groups to make a dialogue between one singer and several journalists. I’ll give students 5 minutes. After discussion, each group should choose some representatives to the platform to play their roles. The purpose of these activities can not only inspire students’ new ideas but also practice English in a cooperative learning method.Step Five is “Homework”I will give them three kinds of homework. First is basic question. Second is much harder. Third one is the hardest for some higher-level students. Each students should choose one questions for their homework. This activity can enable students to collect related information according to their abilities, and check whether the Ss achieve the teaching aims. Now let’s come to the last part, Part Four Blackboard DesignIn order to make the blackboard design inductively and neatly, I will write the title on the top of the blackboard first, and then divide the blackboard into three parts. On the left, I’ll write some useful words and phrases; in the middle of the blackboard, I will write the important and difficult sentence structures, and on the right, there should be some knowledge about the content of the text.To sum up, this lesson will fully implement the teacher-guided and student-centered principle, students can grasp more knowledge about journalists from this lesson, and learn about some useful words and expressions which can be used in daily communication.。
