《 What Time Is It? 》 Dian Gong Primary School Sun Wei First, I want to say : I’m very happy to have such a chance to show you my ideas and learn something from the others. I. Contents: Today I’m going to talk about Lesson 2《 What Time Is It? 》 in Grade Four of PEP Primary English Book . This lesson mainly deals with the dialogue about “time”. And Students will learn the sentence “What time is it?” and express “It’s time to do sth.” or “It’s time for sth.” And I will provides an interesting situation for the Ss to learn it. II. Teaching aims: 1. Aims on the knowledge: (1) To enable the Ss to understand 、speak and write: “What time is it?”、“It’s „ ”、 “It’s time to/for .”Make sure that Ss can use these sentences in real situations. (2) New words: breakfast, lunch, dinner, music class, P.E.class, English class 2. Aims on the abilities: (1) To develop Ss’ abilities of listening 、 speaking and writing. (2) To foster Ss’ abilities of communication and their innovation. 3. Aims on the emotion: (1) Let them be interested in language learning (2) To lead Ss to show their loveliness to the others. III. Key-points of this lesson: (1) To help Ss ask and answer the question: What time is it? It’s time to/for _____. (2) To develop Ss’ interest in English. IV. Difficult points: (1) Ss can communicate with these new sentences. V. Teaching methods: (1) In this lesson I’ll mainly use “situational” teaching method. I will let the Ss learn in interesting situations, finish a task that Cinderella becomes a princess at last with their endeavor. And help the Ss to get a better understanding of the key structure of the dialogue. (2) CAI Method. I will show the Ss a cartoon about Cinderella on TV . The cartoon will be through the whole class. It can make the lesson more fluently, and bring more interesting for students. VI. Teaching procedures and purposes of my designing: Step 1. Warm-up: 1. Sing a song: 《Bingo!》 2. Watch TV. First, Give them two questions.1. What time did it happened? 2. Where did Cinderella go? And then watch the cartoon about the Cinderella. Lead to the new lesson: Step 2. New lesson: 1. New sentences: The first question lead the new sentences: What time is it? It’s _____. The second question lead the sentence: It’s time to ________. Then have some practice about these sentences. 2. Answer my question and look at some pictures ,then learn some new words and phrases. Practice the sentence in pairs.( ask and answer/in groups„) 3. Practice the words with three ways: 1). Read the words. ( Let them remember how to read them.) 2). Fill in the missing letters. ( Focus on the spelling. ) 3). Use the letter cards make words. ( Focus on the spelling. ) 4. Then I will ask students T: Do you want to help Cinderella become a princess.” Ss: Yes! T: OK! Now ,let’s help her together, OK? We should get three steps for helping her. 1). Get beautiful dress In this part, firstly listen to the tape and circle the unknown sentence. Please turn on the light. At this time, I will show two cards about smile face and sad face. When I put up the smile face, students should read “Turn on the light, please.”; When I put up the sad face , they should read “ Turn off the light, please.” Use this way to practice these two sentences. And then we get the first success. 2). Make a wonderful car. This part practice Ss reading and writing. Everyone has a paper about a comprehension. And then check it one by one. The end of this part we’ll get the second success. 3). Find the glass shoes. This is the last part of this lesson. Ss should try to communicate with each other with these new words and sentences. So they should make a conversation and act it by groups. At last, Cinderella will get her glass shoes. Then she will live with her prince tighter sweetly forever. And Ss will get a big success in this lesson.
